| A bento made primarily with leftovers. I also tried out a new recipe, "buta soboro gohan," or pork soboro rice, which makes a satisfying meal and great leftovers for a bento the next day. :D Buta soboro gohan, eggplant and daikon stir-fry with sweet-and-sour douban sauce, broccoli, cherry tomato, and prune slices Blogged w/ recipe at frank tastes | |

| I did "bento swapping" with my friend, where we each made a bento and exchanged it with each other. This was a lot of fun, as I got to know what other people's lunchboxes taste like and to talk about bentos (I'm sure all of us here know what a great conversation topic bentos can be). Hopefully the two of us can do it more often! :D My bento for her: (Green salad with dressing, mixed bean salad, tonkatsu, and rice) Her bento for me: (Cherry tomatoes, ham and asparagus rolls, takikomi gohan, and iri tamago) Blogged here | |

| This week's bento features some of my favourite foods: scrambled eggs with shrimps (a Cantonese classic) and sweet potato tempura. I suppose at the end of the day, the best thing about packing a bento is that one can control what's on the menu and enjoy his/her favourite foods. *drools* :D (Scrambled eggs with shrimps and green onions, sweet potato tempura, broccoli, and rice) Notes on preparation at frank tastesHave a nice weekend! | |

| Today's bento features some of my favourite Korean food: dakgalbi and buchimgae (with chives). The chive pancakes are served with a citrus shoyu dip (not displayed in photograph). I really should try to learn more about Korean cuisine: its flavours are absolutely wonderful. :D Chicken and vegetable stir-fry with gochujang, bean sprouts dressed with sesame oil, chive pancakes, and rice with toasted sesame seeds Notes on cooking at frank tastes | |

| This is sort of late, but I want to wish everyone a happy new year! Let's look forward to another year of bento-ing. :D (Hamburger with a demi-glaze, honey-glazed sweet potatoes, and rice dotted with an umeboshi) Notes on cooking at frank tastes. | |

| Hello everyone! This week's bento is another uber-filling one. It is also one of those instances where you realize that things somehow look odd together and the colours/arrangement just don't feel right. Oh well, better luck next time! XD (Nanbanyaki chicken, mixed vegetables, grapes, wakame and sakura denbu onigiris) On recipes and bento-blogging, at frank tastes | |

| Hello everyone! I finally got around to making a "breakfast bento." This is one that I dedicate to my favourite breakfast place in town. As you can see, I can't say that my usual breakfast is a really healthy one: it is quite indulgent (veggies are overrated anyways). XD I also tried to max out the space of my box this time. Is it just me, or is a stuffed bento box simply and truly a gratifying sight? (Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, roasted potatoes with garlic and herbs, a slice of orange, and syrup in a container) Details at frank tastesHave a good weekend! | |
|
| Haven't posted in a while... Oi. To increase efficiency, I just baked everything in the same tray. Rice with sakura denbu and toasted sesame seeds, hamburger with melted cheese, asparagus, honey-glazed sweet potatoes, and apple slices Original Post at frank tastes | |

| Hi everyone! I'm back this week with a bento I made for my earlier hike on Monday. As you can see, I literally "went outside the box" this time. I didn't realize how huge the sandwiches were until I tried to place them into my bento box and had to find a separate container for my fries. XD (crispy fish fillet sandwiches, sweet potato fries, and a green apple) Thoughts & images at frank tastes | |

| My order of bento books arrived last Friday. I have been ultra busy and only managed to scan some selected images from my favourite book ( see Amazon for details). Hopefully when I have more time, I can do more scanning. I personally am very impressed with the art direction of this book (in terms of arrangement and photography). Some of you may notice how I am obsessed with the non-cute "everyday" bento style (makes sense?), and these are fantastic examples of such bentos. Very graceful.
( Enjoy ) | |

| Tried out a new recipe with ground pork and miso, and now I have leftovers for bento. Very tasty. Have a good weekend!

| Hope everyone had a good weekend! Here's my catch-up post: a bento from last week and one from today. I think I'm learning more and more about what my preferences are for bento food (i.e. spicy-salmon and teriyaki). :D Onigiris stuffed with salmon fillet, spicy mayo and green onions. Chicken teriyaki on rice, mushroom-zuccini-eggplant stirfry, and apple slices. For teriyaki chicken, recipe here at frank tastes. | |
