hey, what is kewpie mayo?

It's a brand of mayonnaise (It's actually made by the Q.P. company) that's almost synonymous with Japanese mayonnaise. If you've seen those plastic mayo bottles with a pic of a baby on it, that's it :D

aka the BEST MAYO EVER. I normally hate mayo with a passion but japanese mayo makes me happy.

Hehe, supposedly. ^_^;; But the idea of bento #100 scared me, hehehe. So I opted to stay in bed instead. It'll either be tomorrow or next week ^_^;;

Thanks :D I wish it would be possible to ship it because the karee kuroke at that store is really good, but it barely survived the ride to my house ^_^;;

Takoyaki are octopus balls. They're pieces of octopus wrapped in some batter and are usually cooked and sold as street food in Japan.

Eeeeek! I know :( But workload is so hectic this time of year. Plus, the gas in the kitchen has gone a bit funny lately, hence I've been a bit lazy to cook. But I sorely miss bento-ing :/

OMG Thanks for the Hatchin news :D

I found a little place on the third floor(?) at St. Francis Square in Ortigas (across Megamall) that sells onigiri/sushi /rice molds and little bento thingies. It's a bit like a 100 yen store. :D Have you tried that place?

It's too far! *sobs* I live in Cavite. I'm all set for onigiri / sushi / rice molds but those little bento thingies interest me. Maybe it's time to go on an expedition. *evil grin* And might as well grab a box of Krispy Kremes!

Wow ang layo o_O They're not actually BENTO as in cute little bento things. They have lots of little convenient tupperware-like things that you put food in. I now have a tall container for soup (like soba!) and little plastic containers for the sauce. My sister was like -_- the whole time ahhahaha :D But the greatest finds were the molds <3 I've used the containers for my daily lunch boxes to work (nothing post-worthy though) and the plastic's not the cheap stuff you find at the malls. The staff claims the containers are made in Japan.

Beautiful!! Everything there looks very tasty.

Where did you get that box - and does it come with a band or something for transporting? I want to get a wide square one like that, but I don't know how well it'd travel to work.

I truly envy your photography skills. This could be out of a magazine. Any suggestions or tips?

I bought the box at a local brick and mortar store. :( It's just a box with removable dividers and a cover. I don't think it's really a travelling sort of bento box but I use it nevertheless. ^_^;; I use it with a bento belt from a different set and just carry it very carefully. Not a tough task, as long as I put dry stuff in.

Thank you muchies. I've left a few comments about taking photos on a bunch of bento posts but I can't be relied on to keep track. A few would be to be familiar with your camera's settings and to find adequate lighting. I was thinking about doing a short post with photo tips but I never got around to doing it. ^_^;; If you have any specific questions though, I'd be glad to answer them, but I must warn you that I'm no pro.

Thanks! I wouldn't have thought of bringing takoyaki myself, until after I bought some home that day. They keep it along with the koroke and tonkatsu and other ready to cook food in the store, cooked and ready for reheating.

Squeeee! Takoyakiiii and kurokee *having some MAJOR Japanese fast-food cravings* That serously looks so good! And I love how you made the heart-shaped sandwich, the cani-strips makes it look very decorative indeed :)

Thanks! I happened upon the stripey possibilities when I was shredding it. Funny though, it reminded me more of candy canes than anything else. ^_^;;
