Anyone who wanted to know about the internet rumors of our favourite medical doctor, heres your chance. Spoilers for the second half of season 3, straight from producer N. John Smith during todays talk at the collectormania convention in manchester, england.

if anyones interested. If you don't want to know, then DO NOT read!

Stargate atlantis producer N. John Smith confirmed today during the collectormania manchester convention, in response to the rumour about Carson's demise on the internet, told fans (including me) that Carson disappears in the latter half of season 3 (but doesn't die) and Paul looses his role as a main character on the show, but will be returning in the future to appear on episodes. He said "no-one ever stays dead in the stargate world".

Also confirmed is that the character of Michael will be returning, however he didn't say whether it was this season or not, and whether it had any ties to Carson's disappearence.

Yep, that was pretty much my reaction aswell. But thats what he said. Someone asked a question about whether or not Ford and Michael would return, and he said that sometimes noone ever dies in stargate land, but sometimes its necessary to 'loose' characters in order to further the plot (or something to that effect). BUT WE LOVE CARSON!!!!!!
Hopefully they wont keep him missing for long. or else we should all rebel!

	Crap, to put it succinctly. I had heard rumours of this and it's a real shame. Mind you if Michael has something to do with it it opens it up for all sorts of stories (which is no consolation really). (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Well, really not surprised that it's true, so i guess it's only watching SGA when DAvid Nykl is on and the hell with the rest of the season. Damn shame when the writers feel they gotta get rid of a character because they can't write anything good for them. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	agrees. I wanted to throw my can at N. John Smith, when he told us that. Had to put it on the floor to avoid temptation of actually doing so. Never seen firefly, but i so love Paul. We so need to petition so he comes back at the start of season 4. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

	It's a sad sad day prepares a black arm-band with a scottish flag on it Looks like I'll be boy-cotting future episodes of SGA without Carson in, then... the best way to let them know how disgusted we feel with them writing him out is to make sure that non Carson episodes get crappy ratings nods spread the word. 	Not only will they lose Carson they will lose me as well. I know I'm only one fan but DAMN IT! Why get rid of really good characters. I know it's probably cutting off my nose to spite my face but I'll stop watching the show and just depend on the fanfic universe where I'm sure Carson will live long and prosper. 	I assume this is not something Paul McGillion wants. Sigh. I was terrified they were gonna kill him off, so at least knowing he just "disappears" (and WTF does that mean?) is better, I suppose. IMO, the producers and other PTB of the Stargate universe are all on drugs. Or oughta be. I've been saying that for years, and this just continues to confirm it. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	I think it depressed everyone in the talk aswell. Yep probably shouldnt have followed the cut! but at least we now know, and can hope for a reappearence instead of him being dead and no reappearence. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I know weve got someone else playing the doctor for the first few episodes of season 4 (dont know how many tho), also if he gets kidnapped or something, he may come back a bit darker which will mean a very different way of paul playing him and the way he interactes with the rest of the characters (especially if he thinks they left him behind, and didnt rescue him) (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

	sobs uncontrolably It's like being dealt two crushing blows at once. Not only do I lose my favorite medical doctor (in the history of all television) but I have to stomach more of Michael? 	Ok... then who the hell is going to be the going the CMO? If we loose Carson for have the season and he becomes a side character.
