"Epic Post of Nothing" a.k.a. "My Day" [26 Jul 2008|12:48am]

4you_blue_jway
[ mood | awake ]
[ music | Let 'Em In - Paul McCartney & Wings - Wingspan ]

I'm used to doing these late night posts now. haha. I should go to bed though. I have to sand a chest of drawers in the morning. Yes, I'm serious. I'm trying to redo my room and until I get that done I can't paint the rest of the room. My parents are weird like that. So yeah.

I just finished writing part 15 of All My Loving. It's is all angsty and sweet and sad and then like OMG at the end. [LOL. Spoiler.]
Maybe if no one reads those posts I did, they'll read this and then say, "Ooh! I wanna read that." haha. Not. I know, no one has time to read. Heck, I need to be reading A Tale of Two Cities. Guess I'll get it done next week. I've got Senior pics Monday. HAHA. I just realized I'm technically a 'Senior' citizen. lolz. That's only funny b/c it's nearly 1 am. I know.

Speaking of pictures, I actually found a dress today. Mom & Dad & I went to the mall. [You ever notice how I tend to use ampersands instead of typing out 'and' but sometimes I will type the word out or I use both? Interesting, but completely irrelevant...] Family outing! ["and there was much rejoicing...[unenthused] yay."] lolz. I ended up getting three [two John Lennon and [see, I typed it out] one Sgt. Pepper] shirts from Hot Topic [I have no idea why we went in there in the first place, but that was awesome to find those] and then we went to JC Penney's and they had a black and white dress that fit and we hadn't found anything else ANYWHERE. So I said, well, if we don't get it we'll never find anything else. That's a Murphy's Law [whoever the heck Murphy was].  But I ramble. So to sum up all that, I found a dress & [...ampersand...]I bought it, now I just have to go Monday and sit there for FOUR HOURS. Janet said that's how long it took her. I migh just lose my mind. lol. I'm taking my uke though so I guess everyone else will just lose there's. haha. I'm thinking there's a lot of wait time, but maybe not. Maybe it's four hours of really quick shots. Yeah, right.

I found the music to Downtown [by Petula Clark[, which ironically was playing when I bought the dress...Ooh, it's a sign. So anyroad,  I might learn that. Idk. And now it's after one. Just thought I'd keep you lot up to date. lol. This is becoming ridiculous but I'm like not tired ampersand [ooh...] kinda bored and don't want to do a survey or read or anything. I bought MMT on DVD at FYE. [YAY! ACRONYMS!] It was $13 and a complete waste of my money, as I thought it would be but once again, my mother insisted. So yeah. The spaghetti thing was still weird probably because I ate that for dinner and then watched the movie...hmm...
Momz [haha. Like I'd EVER actually say that] just came by the door and said that I need to go to bed...

Oh randomness! Today in the car, Sheik of Araby came up on my iPod [which I had playing through the radio] and Dad's like "What is that? Who's singing?" And I was going to say "George," but mom beat me to it and said "Georgie" [haha]. And he's like "Man, that's...weird..." LOLZ. Dad is awesome, even if he has no fashion sense. <3

I guess I should go to bed now though, for serious. IF I get the sanding and whatnot [I like that word too, whatnot] finished, I might come back and post about my awesome observations tomorrow. lol. Like you all want to hear that. =)
[Maybe I'll finish my moodtheme, then.]

Love,
Anna

Kids, it's like they have no brains. [25 Jul 2008|09:26pm]

[ mood | cranky ]

So, about 9:15pm brother and Corie got back from taking Connor to the ER. He had to get stitches. I forgot to ask how many. They took off to the store to get some bandages and Children's ibuprofen for him. I guess you could see down to the bone on his finger.

I know, how on earth did that happen, right? He cut it with a razor blade. At firstm he tried to say that Thomas got it and cut him on purpose. Except that Thomas was in the living room with me. All we knew at first was that he was playing in the room with all the toys when he suddenly started screaming and running around. He wouldn't tell anyone why he was crying at first. He came into the living room and stopped running around long enough for me to see blood all over his hand and arm and dripping on the floor. We got him calmed down a bit so we could see how bad it was. They decided to take him to the ER in case he needed stitches. While they were there, Corie asked him how he got cut and he told her the story about Thomas. ScinceI had told her before they left that Thomas had been sitting on the couch the whole time she looked at him and told him not to lie to her. He told her that he had gotten the razor blade down (they were put up) and was trying to cut the plastic off the crate that has my records in it. Serves him right.

Hopefully he's learned his lesson and won't play with things people have repeatedly told him not to touch because he could get hurt. But knowing him, probably not.

And to top it off, I have had a headache for the last 3 days and I'm about dead on my feet.

[ETA:] I just saw it because he unwrapped his finger somehow and he's got 3 stitches.

hello hello

I haven't taken any pictures during the past two weeks because i've been too busy enjoying things to care about bringing my camera.

Rachel left for sweden so I originally thought i'd be bored out of my mind but that hasn't happened. I went with Rob and his family to Cape Cod and that was cool, didn't get sun burned! The water was almost disgustingly warm but very refreshing so shut up about it. I learned how to play "Scat" and now i'm a regular addict. I can shuffle cards now, the interesting way! I also played "Clue" and it's actually fun! No, not the game, just saying "Professor Plum" and "Colonel Mustard." Keep strong Colonel, I know you didn't do it, no matter what the cards say!

Went to New York to hang with Nana, that ruled as usual. Went to see "Mama Mia!" against my better judgement but got to look at Pierce Brosnan for about two hours so whuteva. It was great but now I have to buy gas for my car and that's not so great.

My mom bought me the "Fox Soccer" channel!! Now I can get my fill of the Premiere League whenever I want, and I can watch this great soccer soap opera called "Soccer Dreams." It's both the best and the worst thing that's ever happened to me because now I can't leave the t.v.

There is a delicious cake lurking on my kitchen table that is pure evil because it is so delicious. I woke up this morning and that is the first thing I ate because I am so frail against its chocolaty goodness. Of course, this wouldn't have happened if my dad didn't refuse to buy me "Reese's Puff's Cereal!" Seriously.

I've been thinking of joining the peace corps after college to go to Africa and help out. Stupid idea? Probably. Another Stupid idea? Accepting the friend request of this dude off of facebook named "Tosh Michael Chenette" whose interests include "selling crack." Oh well, Crack is the spice of life - isn't that how the saying goes? It should be.

help! I feel summer slowly slipping away through my boney fingers and there is still so much I want to do!

'60s Rock'n'Roll Romances [24 Jul 2008|06:10pm]

so_i_go
[ mood | restless ]
[ music | "Something," The Beatles ]

There is nothing more glamorous to me than the rock's reigning royal couples of the 1960s.

"I love you, but quietly."

Sammy Juste & Micky Dolenz

Part of it, I think, is the cultural glamour attributed to the 1960s in general: the patina of glossy mythology attributed to what was in actuality a harsh decade softened by its enduring pop culture, romanticized by the black-and-white turned color footage of the first celebrity nightclub hangouts, swooning fans at concerts, paparazzi shots of Tahitian honeymoons and London courthouse weddings.  There is a star-crossed quality to transatlantic love.  There is an unattainable quality to the 1960s, this sense that it was a swirling era of magic and change that will not come again in any of our lifetimes, if ever again, simply because were such a chance to arise, it would be compared to the 1960s: and come up short.

"Being so close to him was electrifying."

Chad & Jill Stuart

And then there is the glamour of those 1960s rock'n'roll lovers themselves -- the most beautiful men and women I've ever seen, and they just look different than people do today.  Lighter.  More pensive.  More in love.  Their faces seem to fit together better (if I could look like I were from the 1960s, I would jump at the chance in a heartbeat).  Maybe it was the excitement of the style revolution: letting down your long straight hair, being one of the first (or the first, Jean Shrimpton!) to wear a miniskirt.  Everything is commonplace now, it's all been done, we only have left to copy the styles of the past and remake only their small revolutions -- the big revolutions have been had.  The small revolutions have been had.  We have innovation now, but we don't take advantage.  We only retool, not rethink.  If you look into the faces of the beautiful 1960s, those minds are always racing, spinning, tripping a million ideas, new ideas.

"I met [him]... and then I went comatose and I was captured and
spellbound from here to eternity because he was so real
he was unreal."

Marianne Faithfull & Mick Jagger

I wonder if a part of the allure is its tragedy: so much youth and beauty so old and destroyed now.  Or dead.  Reading the passages about death of Gram Parsons in I'm With The Band reduced me to tears -- and I don't even like most of the tragically beautiful dead from Pamela Des Barres' California:

"I was making a shirt for some record producer when the phone shook me from my buttonhole stitch.  It was Michele Myer with the news that Gram Parsons had been found dead in Joshua Tree.  I felt a dull thud somewhere inside myself and started to bawl... Gram had gotten thick and clumsy, like a puffy old man, way before his time.  He wasn't quite twenty-seven when he OD'd in his favorite spot in the desert... [he] died in the turquoise Naugahyde chair looking out the window... I listened to Gram's pain every time he sang, and I felt it cut into me like a sliver of sharp ice, making me feel stuff I didn't know was down in there... his beautiful hands dangling at his sides like forgotten flowers."
"When Jim Morrison died, I flummoxed around wondering, what was it all for anyway??  Had he served his purpose, or what?  Was I serving any purpose?  Was there a purpose to serve?"
"Miss Christine, GTO, the Dr. Seuss character of the group, died a tragic death alone in a hotel room in Boston. ... Her mascara had coursed down her cheeks in a splendid design..."
"Ah, the frailty of legends."
Paul McCartney & Jane Asher

Looking at Keith Richards or Pete Townshend or Brigitte Bardot today, thinking about Jimi Hendrix and Keith Moon and Sharon Tate, makes me wonder: where will today's rockstars and beauties be in fifty years?  I can't imagine their legends enduring as it stands, but what will happen to little Nick Jonas, crying on stage that in just a little bit longer, he'll be fine; the apparent new Eddie Vedder (according to Rolling Stone)?  Joe and Taylor, more likely but lesser Trace and Hanna -- will she write a book one day about how beautiful it was to love him once upon a time?  How tragically will Miley fall?  How much harder can Britney be pushed?  Lindsay and Chris have both already broken, not so beautifully as stars once did, their hands don't dangle like flowers but like deli meat, useless and heavy.  Who will be the next beautifully broken...?

"Fame" is too easy today, that's why there are no legends.  "Fame" is not the goal: respect, endurance, change, innovation, mythology and beauty, those are the goals.  Fame is a popular MySpace page.

George Harrison & Pattie Boyd

"Will you marry me?  And if you won't marry me, will you have dinner with me tonight?"

There is something breathtakingly stomach-turning about the absurd perfection of 1960s rock'n'roll romances.
None of them lasted.
I think they could have, and in becoming the epitome of romance... they did.  They are, in their own way, the most enduring portrait of love.

With our powers combined... [24 Jul 2008|01:43pm]

mrsfjl66
  1. Happy Birthday to my wonderful wonderful big sister.  She's supposed to come in town and if she does, I want to have a mini QAF marathon or perhaps force her to watch the pilot ep of GA.
  2. Through the wonders of the interweb, I actually talked to [info]anna_in_the_sky at lunch time today.  Wowsers.  Talking to someone is way different than just writing really rambly lj replies.  But then again, I kinda write like I talk so, maybe there's no difference;)  (So much fun.  Hope you didn't miss out on too much work!)  Oh, I looked up some very surface info comparing our two legal systems after our chat and yeah, v. complicated stuff.  Glad it's in your capable hands because I...am much better with the ins and outs of the Wizenmagot;) (I have no idea how to prnounce it though.)
  3. I saw Nancy Drew yesterday.  Loved it.  Such an adorable little movie.  I would be a terrible sleuth but that Nancy is impressive.  She knows the history of Mirandization and everything.
  4. Project Runway is sucking me in yet again.  I swear, Bravo!Tv is a monkey on my back.  Just.  Gotta.  Get.  More. Tim. Gunn.

Eux Autres is a band I read about several years ago via the music blogs! They released their second album, Cold City, last December, and I just ordered it off Darla.com. Eux Autres is a real brother-sister pair from Portland. I guess you could call them a popier, twee version of the White Stripes.

Writer's Block: Phobias [24 Jul 2008|06:27am]

Do you have a remarkable phobia? Does your phobia have a large impact on your life?

Some of the normal ones, like heights and sharks (even though they are one of my favorite animals = weird), but the strangest of my phobias is my fear of hair. Not all hair - not animal, not hair attached to someone's body - LOOSE HUMAN HAIR. It disgusts me so much I cannot stand to be near it. Like hair in a shower drain, or stuck to the back of chairs or people's shirts.

I cringe just thinking about it.

I've just realised that all I have eaten today were 4 pieces of gum, a bottle of nutrient water, a handful of prawn crackers and a tomato and msoked three ciggies.

I've just come off an 11 hour shift and was wondering why I feel totally wiped.

Now I know. I am uber health monster.

I was surfing YouTube and stumbled on these guys. I almost forgot about them! I haven't thought about them in a LONG time! I used to watch their Saturday morning show on CBS when I was 11. If you've seen Toy Story 2, they sang "Woody's Round-up". I miss them so much! I know what I'm going to be watching on YouTube all day tomorrow. This one has always been one of my favorite songs, too.

Riders in the Sky - How Does He Yodel

If you like it, check out "The Ballad of Palindrome". Hilarious.

They're going to be in Michigan in October. I should see if I can find a way.

[ music | Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles - Abbey Road ]

I wasn't going to post today [well, technically yesterday...], but I figured, while I'm still up I might as well. Of course, I slept in till like 12:30 or so b/c I had a sore throat and felt awful, therefore I'm not really tired or anything. Needless to say, I did not go to the Bach's Lunch but she didn't really need me & I hope to go to the next one.

We went to this restaurant that's mainly a BBQ [but I had fish that was really good] place [I think it was called "Big John's" which is semi-lulzy to me], and they had a picture of George over one of the tables AND at the back over the little window that went through to the kitchen, there was this epic drawing of this picture. I didn't notice it until I sat down and then I could only see John and George [Best seat in the house? maybe. lol] but we got up and looked at it before we left. John and George looked really good, but Paul was a little weird looking and Ringo wasn't quite right. It was still awesome though.

I've been trying to work on my mood them but I can't find a pic I like for blank. I was going to use a clueless!Paul but actually none of them are blank enough for my tastes. Then I thought about making a block with nothing in it. But that's a bit avant-garde which makes me think of Yoko who I don't want to be like although I feel like I could totally be compared with her sometimes. This is what I think about at 12:48 in the morning. Interesting isn't it? I had another kind of weird semi-George related dream this morning sometime [I woke up then went back to bed]. It's under the cut b/c it's pretty epic.

That's all for now kiddies. If I'm not super busy tomorrow I might do some screencaps of Pyramus & Thisbe and post 'em over at Beatlepics or maybe I'll do a Gripweed spam. Mhm, Gripweed!John...lol [Yet another Simpsons ref. haha]

Love & Peace [ooh, see what I did there? I switched 'em up],
