| Rising from the dead like a good book club should . . . |

For June, 2009,
I'm thinking FAKE ID by Jason Starr. It's the new HARDCASE CRIME book, and should be easy for everyone to find. It's $7.99, and available at most big book chains. (But I still hope you'd support indy bookstores, because it's the right thing to do!) When sounds like a good time for the "deadline?" |

The Book: THE RUINS by Scott Smith The Date: September 28th, 2007 The Place: Derek's Basement, unless we can come up with anywhere more compelling. The Time: 5:00pm The Plan: We can order in or go out for Pizza or Chinese, talk about the book, tell odd stories, pick the next couple of books, and maybe watch a thematically related movie afterwards.

Due to weather and the lack of ANYONE finishing the book, should we postpone the BCOD until January? |

Okay, we're on for Friday, December 22nd at about 5:30-ish at my place.
The book, again, is:
THE MEANING OF NIGHT by Michael Cox.
It's a hum-dinger!

A big shout out to the folks that showed up for the revived BCOD on Friday. A good time was had by all, hopefully, and there was some good discussion of the book. (Plus some baby time and good vittles.) We all decided that FOUR AND TWENTY BLACKBIRDS was well worth reading, and that we were interested in reading more by the author.
We also selected the next book for us to read, which is:
THE MEANING OF NIGHT: A CONFESSION by Michael Cox http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0393062031/ref=pd_rvi_gw_1/102-3609283-9392913
It's getting good reviews, and firmly fits into the BCOD category. It's apparently a Victorian thriller about a serial killer! Oooooh! I'm currently looking at Friday, December 22 as an option for the next meeting. Or is that too close to Christmas? |
