Hi, I've just finished reading Vanity Fair, and have now been looking up film adaptiations. I saw that there was a movie in 2004 and a BBC series in 1998. It was easy to get hold of the movie, but I haven't been able to get the series. Does anyone know where to find them? :) I'd be eternally grateful since I absolutely love BBC adaptations. Also, are there any other movies or series of that book you can recommend? Thanks! =)

| Watch Period Dramas Online |

Here is a list of period movies and series that I've found on Youtube. I've watched most but not all so I'm not necessarily recommending all of them. This is just my playlist on Youtube of ones that I've noticed that have been uploaded. I've created a playlist of the first clip of each of the series for that drama.
I try to keep the list of films updated on my site Enchanted Serenity - my original list of 80 films has ballooned to 180! Wow, I can't believe that many are available on Youtube and I'm trying hard to watch them before they get removed!
If you don't mind watching a film in 10 minute clips, feel free to check out the list!

I finally made a list of my Top 150 Period Dramas. In my opinion, a non-period movie has to be really good to get my attention since this genre is my favourite! I had a list of Top BBC dramas based on the ones that have been popular over the years and I wanted to expand the list to include my favourite films - BBC and otherwise...
>150 Top period dramas (A - L)
>150 Top period dramas (M - Z)
What are your favourites???

| Thoughts from last year about Mr. Knightley...and thoughts from right now |
[ | |

| | ] |
I was just rereading some old journal entries from March of last year. I was amused at my thoughts about who they might cast for Mr. Knightley in the BBC Emma...
On Richard Armitage as Mr. Knightley -- I adore RA as you are all well aware. However, I am highly protective of Mr. K as a character because he is officially my Jane Austen love match. He and I would get along like a house on fire if we met and I'm sure I could convince him to fall madly in love with me and marry me. RA is the perfect age if not a bit young. (Hold the phone. The dude is 38! WOW!! Ok, he's old enough for sure.) If they got a young looking Emma, it could work. I just need him to play it SNARKY. I thought that Jeremy Northam was a delightful Knightley, even though he was WAY too young for Paltrow's Emma. So, I tentatively put my support behind the 'CAST ARMITAGE' movement that's going on in the BBC fan community right now. We'll see...they're also throwing around James Purefoy's name and I have to say....rawwwrrrr. I think he'd also be wonderful. He was the one redeeming thing about Vanity Fair with Reese Witherspoon and the reason that I still own the DVD. And I think he's closer to the right age for Knightley...but again, we shall see. :)
So, now that I've seen the first two installments here in the States, I'm just delighted with JLM as Knightley and with Sandy Welch's fantastic script. He's perfectly snarky in the most fabulous way and he is indeed STILL my Jane Austen love match. ;) Hee!! (I still would have loved to see Armitage take a stab at it, but I've learned to trust the BBC in their casting...for the most part.)

What are your thoughts on the second installment of Emma? Was Mrs. Elton catty enough for you? What'd you think of the Weston's ball? And of course--what about Emma and Knightley's dance?
