If anyone has any information on safe shelters that will take me and my gf (and not split us up) please send info my way. In the city is preferable, as I am still having to be at General twice a week for post op follow ups.

A little about us:
Me- 25 yr old. FTM, Lived in the bay area 5 years before moving to PDX. Just came back down a few months ago for surgerys. Quiet. Non-drinker.Non Partier.

Her- 34 yr. old Femme. PDX Native. Here to help assist me in surgeries.

I went in last Monday for full hysto. Due to the fact that my insides were a bit larger than expected, there were some minor complications resulting in my hardly being able to walk/move and being unable to work for the next 28 days. The house sitting gig we* had lined up for my recovery fell through two days before we got discharged from the hospital, pretty much leaving us with no where to go and recover once being discharged. We have been couch surfing through this leg of my recovery, which has added so much more stress to everything. We have picked up a cat sitting gig for this weekend, but have no where to settle leading up to that, or even after wards and in all honesty didn't know where else to turn for help.We are both very quiet, respectful, honest folk. We have house sitting/pet sitting references and would be as out of the way as possible. We just need somewhere to be for a few days. If you, or anyone you know, have the floor/couch space or is in need of a house/pet sitter PLEASE let us know, as we are desperate and I don't really wanna spend my recovery time in Dolores park...especially not in this much pain!! Thanks for your time, ya'll.

*WE = My gf/nurse and I. Due to the fact that I can hardly move/walk, I need her around to help me do pretty much everything right now.

i just moved to san francisco from atlanta. on friday i got mugged by bart and the guy took my wallet with my drivers license, ids, etc. i'm trying to figure out what to do. i haven't had a california driver's license before. i only have copies (like scanner copies, not certified) of my birth certificate and ss card. it looks like i need to have a certified copy of one of these things. i was born in california and had my name legally changed in georgia, and haven't changed my bc in california yet. so:
how do you change the name on your bc in california
and any suggestions on my id situation?

Subject:Max Wolf Valerio and Aja Couchois Duncan in NQAF
Security:Public

My show, "Exile: VIsion Quest at the Edge of Identity" is premiering on June 20th and again, on June 26th at Femina Potens. The material is all new, and about American Indian identity and my own return to the Blood/Kainai reserve in August of last year after an absence of over 20 years. Aja Couchois Duncan will also read, and Timothy O'Neill accompanies my text with music.

Here a description from the site for the National Queer Arts Festival 2009:

Exile: Vision Quest at the Edge of Identity: Max went back to the Blood (Kainai) Reserve in 2008 in Alberta, Canada after a 22 year absence. Exile is an exploration and celebration of his journey home. Exile searches for meaning in an individualist post-tribal urban Indian identity, while exploring dislocation, identity fragmentation and transsexual transformation. Max evokes traditional voices and creates new ones, using waking dreams and conversations with the spirits and characters of Blackfoot mythology to show him the way home. Timothy O’Neill worked with Max in the 80’s creating music for his poems; he returns to create a shimmering soundscape using the sounds of nature and samples of traditional Blackfoot music.

Nomenclature, Miigaadiwin, a Forked Tongue is a 26 poem series in which Aja Couchois Duncan relanguages experience as an alternate self. The series is accompanied by visual footage by Alejandro Gabriel Cruz Gonzalez and Rozita Shamaelov Fogelman.

Vision Quest at the Edge of Identity and Nomenclature, Miigaadiwin, A Forked Tongue

Hope to see some of you there!

Subject:Summer Sublet, anyone?
Security:Public

Hey guys. So, my gf and I are looking for a summer sublet for my gf and I in either the east bay or the city.
We are both very quiet, respectful, chill folks. Easy goin' and laid back. Just looking for something for the summer, but if it lasts longer, that could be cool, too. We just moved back from PDX, to have our housing fall thru the day we got here. Which has put us in a pretty traumatic situation.
Please let us know if you hear of ANYTHING. Thanks, ya'll, Hope everyone is enjoying their memorial day!

Subject:how to move with t?
Security:Public

Hi all. I'm moving to Berkeley very soon and trying to figure out how to get T out there. I already get it through Callen Lorde in NYC, but the only trans-related clinic I could find out there is in SF and it looked like it would take two months to get approved even with a pre-existing script. So I'll need to bring a supply and needles, but I can't figure out how to fly with prescribed controlled substances. Anyone who has advice on that or smoothly relocating hormone services to the area, I'd appreciate it.

Jamison Green the former President of FTMInternational is interested in the sexual health and satisfaction of all trans men, whether or not they have had hormones or surgery, and in the experiences of their partners. Two surveys are available for trans men and their partners to help with the research. He will use the data as raw material for a book, tentatively entitled "The FTM Guide to SEX," plus academic presentations and journal articles to educate medical and therapeutic service providers about trans lives.

screwup: BDSM for trans people, genderqueers and their friends, presents...

April's screwup:
Self Discipline and Remote Control: Solo and Remote Play

New Day and Time!
Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Femina Potens, 2199 Market Street (at Sanchez Street), San Francisco

Whether you are too busy to meet in person, thousands of miles apart, or prefer to avoid the risks of in person play, remote play is a great way to create or maintain a hot connection. Solo play is a great way to practice techniques in a low pressure situation, learn your own responses, and show yourself a good time. They can be substitutes for playing with a lover you can touch, a safer sex alternative a, chance to try an edgy fantasy, or just another way to enjoy yourself. Playing alone and playing across distance both require imagination, attention to detail, and safety precautions that are different than an in person playdate. We'll discuss and in some cases demonstrate:

-Preparation and negotiation
-Safety concerns
-Ideas for enhancing connection
-Realtime long distance play: Phone sex, IM, text messages,
-Dirty long distance gifts: Email, letters, postcards, photos, video, packages
-Topping or dominating yourself
-And more!

B/T (aka Bequi) has been topping themselves for over 8 years and practicing remote play regularly for the last year. They have played privately for most of their sexual life and worked as a BDSM professional for 5 years. B/T has taught/facilitated screwup programs on disability and kink, rope bondage, and gender role play.

Screwup is for trans people, genderqueers, and our friends. This event is open to all genders and will be held at Femina Potens . Folks sometimes go out for coffee or food afterwards, so come prepared...

$0-5 donation will be accepted to cover the cost of space and supplies. No one turned away. Femina Potens's space is wheelchair accessible but the bathrooms are not.

Spread the word by forwarding this post.

Please contact screwup@screwup.info if you'd like us to arrange for an ASL interpreter, to get involved, make suggestions or with any other requests.

Subject:Transgender tae kwon do club in SF

I just want to let you guys know about Eureka Valley Tae Kwon Do Club. It's a trans-friendly, all-welcome club under Triangle Martial Arts Association that meets Fridays in the Castro. I've been with them since I started transition in 2007. We'll be there tomorrow at 5:30PM -- drop in for free, talk to the black belts, watch class. It's a volunteer-run, 501c3 non-profit so rates are super cheap.

It's in the auditorium of Eureka Valley Recreation Center at the corner of 18th and Collingwood, just up the hill from Castro St.

Comment if you have any questions, or message me.

Hi guys,

I wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Leigh, I am 30 years old, married to an awesome woman, we have a 14 month old daughter.  We will be moving to the sacramento/bay area in the next couple of months.  I am so glad that I have found a ftm group online in the area we are moving to.  I have been waiting to start T until we got to california because of the lack of peer and professional support in the area we live now.  I am so excited and nervous at the same time... I wanted to know if any of you guys hang out outside online..monthly meetings or outings?
Also the therapist ive been working with was wondering if there are any good therapist in the sac/bay area that i could start with after moving.  Thank you so much and looking forward to lots of interesting conversations.

Leigh
