PS2 for sale

  • Jul. 14th, 2009 at 1:09 PM
I am looking to sell my Playstation 2 for $60.

1 - PS2
2 - Controllers
2 - 8MB memory cards
6 - Games (Xenosaga, Xenosaga II, Vice City, .hack//sign pt 1, .hack//sign pt. 2, Red Ninja)

It would be a great deal for anyone who wants a PS2 or a cheap dvd player. That's the original reason I bought it, not only can you play games, but also watch movies.

Comment if you're interested. You can see the full ad on the BR craigslist complete with a picture of everything included.

Bunny Bowl 2009

  • Jul. 9th, 2009 at 2:12 PM
I've already posted about the bowling fundraiser being held at Circle Bowl on Saturday, July 25th to benefit the Magic Happens Rabbit Rescue, but I realized today that we're charging way less than the regular bowling price.

It's 2 hours of bowling for $20 per individual or $100 per lane, which is 4-6 people. Circle Bowl usually charges $34 per person for 2 hours on the weekend, plus $3 for shoes.

So, if you like to bowl and want to get a good deal on it, comment here, e-mail wendy@magichappensrescue.com or call Wendy at 225-572-9735

Event details here
www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php

July 25th from 2-4 pm

Enjoy 2 hours of bowling at Circle Bowl, free shoe rental, a BB09 tote bag of goodies AND help out a great cause!

An optional tournament will take place during the first hour of the Bunny Bowl.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams and individuals will be awarded, sponsored by Four Wing Studios (www.fourwingstudios.com)

$20/person or $100/team (4-6 people)
Come as an individual or gather your friends and co-workers!
Please register in advance for this event so that we can have enough lanes reserved.

You don't have to be a good bowler or a rabbit lover to come out and have a good time. Most no-kill shelters and rescues only work with cats and dogs, so please help support our efforts of taking in and adopting out rabbits in Louisiana.

We encourage you to recruit family, friends or co-workers to create a team and reserve your own lane, but if its just you or you and a buddy, we'll be glad to fill in the gaps as the alley would like to see about 5 people per lane.

Feeling a little broke? Grab a few friends from work or scouts and organize a team, and get your boss or troop leader to sponsor your lane! Each lane reserved as a whole (whether company or family) will get a poster on their lane and receive a thank-you certificate. You will receive 6 tickets per team.

Tickets may be purchased by cash, check, or Paypal. We will arrange for the tickets to be mailed or picked up prior to the event, as multiple volunteers will have them available. If you would like to help sell tickets, please let us know!

I'm out of town right now, but if you comment here, I'll be happy to contact one of the other volunteers and make sure you get your tickets.
Or, just e-mail Wendy- wendy@magichappensrescue.com

Please pass this along to anyone you think might be interested! We'll use the funds to help get the bunnies into a permanent shelter (their old one was destroyed during Gustav, and they've been housed in a garage ever since)!

Fundraiser for ADA playground

  • Jun. 29th, 2009 at 6:49 PM
Kidz Korner Playland Project is a collaborative endeavor between the Pilot Club of Denham Springs Foundation and the City of Denham Springs to build an ADA approved playground for the children of Livingston Parish and surrounding area to play without limitations set on their physical, mental or developmental abilities.

Where it's going..
Current status..

Crawfish pies are one of our fundraisers for the playground. I have enjoyed these unbelievable pies this year.. A cheesy, casserole style.. Not étouffée like. I baked one the night of purchase and froze one for later. These were indeed fresh and homemade.. True to the advertisement.

6-8 servings
Made for the date of your choice

You can order yours for only $20 by calling or emailing:

Volunteer Opportunity

  • Jun. 28th, 2009 at 9:06 PM
Hello! I volunteer for the only rabbit rescue in Louisiana (at least to our knowledge) and we are looking for more volunteers! We have Care Days every other Sunday in the afternoons, which is when the help is most needed. We clean cages then groom and socialize the bunnies. It's a lot of work, but it's also really fun. There's nothing quite so funny as 20 bunnies in exercise pens all doing binkies (crazy, happy jumps) at once.

Our main site is here: http://magichappensrescue.com/
And information about volunteering is here: http://magichappensrescue.com/beavolunteer.html

Feel free to comment here with questions, or call Wendy (her number is on the main page). We'd love to see you at a Care Day! The next one is two weeks from today.

Pitbull Mix Puppies

  • Jun. 26th, 2009 at 12:25 PM

My sister found 2 puppies (part pitbull, I think) last night, both boys. You know you want a puppy. You know you want TWO puppies, 'cause these little guys love each other and MUST be laying on each other at all times. Animal Control is picking them up today, but you can go get them! ...Go get them! 774-7700 Let me know if you want pictures.  (I'll have to send them from my phone.  The pictures, not the puppies, duh.)

My apologies if this is not allowed; otherwise, I would really appreciate it if you all would take a look at my scholarship competition video on youtube. It's partly judged on popularity, so please post it in your own journals & tell all your friends about it, too! Thanks for your support!

Is there a public dump anywhere in Baton Rouge or Ascension that y'all know of? I've got a lot of things to get rid of that are too big to fit in our weekly trash, like an old mattress. I've lived in other communities that had a public dump where you could bring loads of stuff and pay a fee to drop it off, but I don't recall ever seeing anything like that around here. If you know of one, please let me know. Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in South Baton Rouge? I'm looking for someone who isn't judgemental and can deal with someone who is...apprehensive...about dentists.

Thanks!

BR bars

  • May. 6th, 2009 at 6:18 PM
So I just moved back to Baton Rouge from Birmingham, AL and was wondering what the good night life is around here.
I'm looking for something fun and interactive where people mingle and don't just keep to themselves. And something that isn't too college-y cause I'm too old for Fred's or that kind of mess.

So where do the mid-twenty-somethings hang out around here?

And I may say I'm too old for Fred's but I'm too young for snooty whisky bars (and plus, really who has that kind of money?)

I'm not hard to please. Just some place where I can grab a beer with a friend and maybe meet some people.

Any suggestions?
Looking for something awesome to do this weekend? Then, come downtown for the fifth annual Red Stick Festival. From Wednesday to Sunday, the Shaw Center, Old State Capitol and Louisiana Art & Science Museum will be hopping with some of the best animation in the world. Hand drawn, computer animated, 2d, 3d, you'll find it all. A couple of the highlights of this year's festival are:

*North American premiere of Voices in the Dark, Thursday and Friday from 8-9 pm in the LASM Planetarium.

*Live performance art featuring J-Walt and live blues by Elvin Killerbee, Friday from 8-9 pm in the Shaw Center's Manship Theatre.

*Disney Princess Ball, Friday from 7-9 pm in the Old State Capitol Senate Chamber.

*Cartoon-A-Palooza, Saturday from 9-noon at the Old State Capitol.

Most importantly, the vast majority of festival events (including all the ones listed above) are free and open to the public. Check out redstickfestival.org for a complete list of events and information. Hope to see you there!
