About:

batfic_contest holds bi-weekly fan fiction contests for all Batman fandoms. Each contest will have its own theme and word count limit, alternating between drabbles (100-500 words) and oneshots (500+ words). Voting will take place to determine the winners, and banners will be awarded to display.

Rules:

1) You must be a member of the community to post, and a member or watcher to vote.

2) Fics must be brand new, written specifically for this contest. You may not enter fics that have been previously published at other archives.

3) Post your fics directly to this community as described below in the section "How to Enter the Contest". Do not fake-cut to another journal.

4) Please refrain from posting your fics at other journals/communities/archives until voting is over.

5) Fics may be based on any of the Batman-related comic books, movies, TV shows, or cartoon series (for example, Batman Begins, Batman Returns, Batman: The Animated Series, The Batman, Birds of Prey, Gotham Central, etc.)

6) You may write in any genres. Alternate Universe (AU) and Alternate Reality (AR) fics are allowed. Crossovers with any series are allowed, including but not limited to other DC Comics fandoms/characters (for example, Justice League, Lex Luthor, Static Shock, etc.)

7) You may write any Batman-related characters or pairings. Original characters are okay too as long as they are clearly set within the Batman universe. Real Person Fiction is not allowed.

8) Drabble entries are limited to 100-500 words. Oneshot entries must be at least 500 words long. There is no word limit for a oneshot, but it must be a complete story in one chapter, not a multi-chapter fic.

9) No adult content allowed. No limes/lemons. Don't go above an R-rating.

10) No character or pairing bashing.

11) Constructive criticism is allowed, but no flames.

12) You are allowed to enter more than one fic for each theme contest.

13) Fics must be spell-checked and possess a reasonable attempt at proper grammar and punctuation. If you need help finding a beta reader, please check out

batfic_betas.

14) Members may only post contest entries to this community. This is not a general Batman or fanfic community.

How to Enter the Contest:

Make a post to the group with the following information.

The Subject Line of your post should contain the contest theme.

The body of your post should contain:

Title: Your Fic's Name
Universe: Let us know what version of Batman your fic is set in. Examples include Nolanverse, Burtonverse, DCU (DC Comics Universe), DCAU (DC Animated Universe), The Batman, etc. If you have no particular universe in mind, put General.
Genre: Drama, Comedy, Action, Gen, Romance, AU, AR, Crossover, Horror, etc.
Rating: G, PG, PG-13, R only.
Characters/Pairings: Batman, Catwoman, Oracle/Nightwing, Joker/Harley Quinn, etc.
Word Count: Drabbles should be 100-500 words. Oneshots should be 500+ words.
Warnings: Spoilers for The Dark Knight or current storylines, any other warnings.
Summary: A short summary of your fic.

And an LJ-cut to your fic. All fics must be put behind an LJ-cut.

Voting Procedures:

-Only members/watchers of the community may vote.
-No sockpuppets or getting your friends to vote for you.
-You may not vote for yourself.
-Voting will be screened.

Each fic will be assigned a letter. Your vote should be formatted like this:

1st - letter
2nd - letter
3rd - letter

Each first place vote will receive three points. Second place votes receive two points. Third place votes receive one point. The fics with the three highest scores are the winners, and will receive banners.
