Today is a boots day and a Western Diamondback day: Snake Oil with leather, tonka bean, red sandalwood, and sage.. Smooth, mellow, sleepy, with self-confidence underneath.

Yesterday was a successful writing day. Turning off the network was good. I now have 3000+ words of story that's moving in a direction I like. Gen, Giles/Xander friendship, set in season 2.

Also, writercon 2009? I've only ever driven through the place my father always called Minne-ha-ha for reasons that were never clear to me. I might have to restrain my urge to toss a tam o'shanter into the air, though.

Writercon 2009: Writing Between the Lines will take place July 30 through August 2 in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel.

Those of you who were with me at writercon in 2004 or 2006 know this much-anticipated event is an assembly of writers and readers of fan fiction who gather to celebrate the power of telling stories. There are panel discussions, guest speakers, and hands-on workshops. Best of all, there is us!

For those who are new, Writercon is an organization of fanfiction writers and readers, created by fanfiction writers and readers. We come from dozens of fandoms and write in every genre. During Writercon, we gather to discuss the art and craft of fan fiction. Some of us want to learn how to write more and better fan fiction. Others look forward to meeting up with fellow writers and readers to exchange ideas and offer support. All of us, those who have participated in numerous fandoms and those who were only recently drawn into the world of fanfiction, are welcome.

who asked for something with Draco and somebody; silliness; romance?

Through no fault or deliberation of my own, the prompt inspired a very surprising 'somebody'. I didn't sit down to fact-check at all, so I may have inadvertently taken inappropriate liberties with the ages (and maybe hair colour; I forget). This is just a teaser, mainly because I need to know whether this works any before I get too invested in it and in the characters; they're already whispering to me like they were Dru's pixies. (Also because I got inspired earlier but am still nauseous and lack the energy to write more right now.)

I just found out that Belgian television has been showing both the first season of T:tscc and will be showing the first season of Pushing Daisies from next wednesday on.

I really need to start looking at the tv guide more often, I keep missing shows I love this way.

Annoyingly enough, they're showing Both shows after prime time. Pushing Daisies isn't on until 11PM. What fool thought that that would be a good idea?

So I've been really busy the past few weeks. Substitute teaching nearly every day while still working my night job and the weekends haven't been much better so the muse took a backseat for a bit. Episode 2 of Merlin had a painfully predictable plot, but was less thuddy than the pilot. Episode 3 was sort of enjoyable.

Mr P watched part of #3 with me and cringed at the anachronisms. "The BBC is humiliating itself," he said, and later, "I thought they knew about history in Britain because they have some." He shouted at the screen about a plot hole, and then asked me why I was watching it.

"Head is playing Uther."

"This is the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen you do," he said and stomped out of the room.

I don't think it was that bad, dear. I liked traumatic-angsty-past!Uther, and ASH biting out "leave me" was quite satisfying. Arthur is dishy if you like your Arthurs young.

PS: My condolences to Cubs fans. Keep on plugging. You'll get there eventually.

I am being incredibly lazy today; apart from buying about a hundred pansies that will need planing sometime this week, I have sat around, read the Sunday papers, read a lot of SGA fiction and generally slobbed around. I'm still getting over The Prince of Darkness coming back into the Cabinet. That is so bizarre.

I have nearly finished next chapter of Business as usual and hope to post it some time in next couple of days. Apart from that, nothing! Oh and it's raining, that's the sum total of exciting things I can write about at the moment. I am going to read my flist now which will be full of people doing and saying and being busy and interesting. Sighs heavily.
