Travel ideas?
I'll be visiting Bangalore from the USA in July to attend my best friend's wedding. We'll have a few days toward the end of our trip to do some sightseeing or day trips. Any recommendations of what not to miss or what to avoid?

Thanks!

I was going to say go to Mysore for a day. Also have a dosa at Vidyarthi Bhavan (before noon). Be sure to have filter coffee.

and then the next day another dosa at CTR. go to russell market and wander around for a bit.

Have dinner out near mosque rd

eat at arabian savoury and have a kerala paratha and the minty green drink.

Mail a pkg at the main post office and get it wrapped in muslin and sewn shut with string.

just avoid bangalore. you wont miss anything. its just a dirty city with too much dust and too much traffic and too many people and too much noise.

In Bangalore, do visit the monolithic Basava (Sacred Bull, this is not a joke!) temple at the eponymous area of Basavanagudi. Go to the 13th Floor, a restaurant at Barton Centre, which gives a fantastic view of Bangalore's heart.
Go for a Bangalore Walk with Arun Pai (http://www.bangalorewalks.com/)...he's very, very good. Visit the Bangalore Palace itself. Visit Lalbagh or/and Cubbon Park; in the latter, see the seat of the Government and some beautiful buildings. Walk through Brigade Road, M G Road, Commercial Street.

Is this your first visit to India? If so, prepare yourself for an incredible sensory overload.

BTW...Bangalore in July will be in the middle of the monsoon. That's something to experience as well!

Come with an open mind. You will like some things, dislike others....that's part of the deal.

I can recommend www.Earth.org. :)

OR you can just post on my blog, and I'll get back to you soon. I mean... There's not too much to do, but the best would be to go sight seeing.
