Thanks to sarmoti for the heads up. :) According to Mineville's official website the film is to shoot during the autumn/winter in the Adirondack Mountains, New York. A synopsis of the film from the site:
"MINEVILLE; the untold true story of Irish immigrant workers who mined the Iron Ore that was used to build the then new city of Manhattan in 1910. This is a personal and politically driven story about two boys, from opposite ends of society, struggling against their own demons to break free of their upbringing, As a glimmer of hope appears on the horizon in the form of a wealthy, so-called Union Leader, their dreams are shattered as they watch him take control of their town and ultimately their destiny's."
Great news! But the name of his character isn't correct. Jeff(rey) Combs is an actor, most known for his work on Star Trek: DS9 (Weyoun) and Enterprise (Shran).
The list of names on the site:
IAN HART: GIOVANNI RIBISI: TONY CURRAN: ANTHONY LAPAGLIA: WILLIAM SADLER: JEFF COMBS: JAMIE BAMBER: JASON BARRY
is all the actors involved, not names of characters. What a terrific cast though! :)
Oops! Thanks. I was trying to post in a hurry and was confused by the way they had the actors listed (and the fact I only know half of them ;). I shall fix it. :)
It's okay. It was confusing on the site too. I've heard of most of the other actors (Ian Hart, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony LaPaglia, Jeffrey Combs) so it was easy to figure out what was going on. It sounds like a really good film and I'm looking forward to seeing Jamie in it! So thanks for letting us know!
Giovanni I know and I'm a long time fan of Anthony LaPaglia so I'm very excited that he and Jamie will be in a film together. (Hey, maybe he can get him a guest starring role on 'Without a Trace' next year? ;) But the rest I was unfamiliar with until I clicked on their info on imdb. Interesting that he'll be working with his Ultimate Force co-star, Tony Curran, again. Hopefully, this is a much better experience for both. ;)
Ian Hart's an English actor who has played John Lennon twice (Backbeat, The Hours & the Times) as well as starring in the first Harry Potter film. He's currently on Dirt, the Courtney Cox show about the tabloids. He's fantastic. And like I said, Jeff Combs is well-known from Star Trek circles, but he's done a zillion other things as well. Jamie's in great company!
Ian Hart's brilliant. I've been a fan of his since I first saw Backbeat. He was lovely as Quirrel -- I would also highly recommend Liam (depressing as hell but he's great in it). There's lots of pretty and good actors. I'm looking forward to seeing it (and Jamie with an Irish accent? *squee*)
Jamie with an Irish accent is only slightly less droolworthy than Jamie with his natural accent. I am very excited too esp since this seems like a quality film vs. low budget science fiction/horror fare.
Hey, Falcy had pointed me in the direction of your FedCon reports and I wanted to thank you for taking the time to do them and provide some interesting Jamie stories. :) I suspected the poor boy must have been exhausted that weekend.
There's still one left about the panel with Jamie and Mary, unfortunately I didn't see much of that, only the first 15 minutes, but those already were great :)
I'm not sure this is the type of film that will get wide distribution, but it is an interesting story with a strong cast and it could be very good for his career. Yay! :)
The Bamber can be a dangerous creature if viewed in the wild. Be sure to remain a safe distance away. Take care not to startle him - he will not attack unless threatened. Be sure and bring your camera, the wild Bamber is a rare and beautiful sight, particularly if you catch him during mating season.
I hear the female Bamber, commonly known as The Kerry, is very effective in keeping her mate (and so she should). Sadly, I haven't been able to get my cloning techniques up to snuff. :)
Oh, they're an adorable couple with three adorable little Bamberettes.
In all seriousness, one of the reasons I adore Jamie so much is the way he talks about Kerry and family life. There's something ridiculously sexy to me about a man who is in love with his wife.
