Final Fantasy XII official manga - foreword + preview (updated)
Soooooo.....I've been toying with the idea of translating the manga for a while, especially since the previous posts based on the manga seem to have pleased members. I wasn't too sure at first, but I've been on a bit of a roll with my Japanese studies, which in turn made me foolish confident enough to attempt this.
I just thought I'd explain a few points before starting:
Each translation post will consist of 10-12 pages with translation. I will not necessarily post all 10 pages at once, but fill the post until I reach the quota then create a new post, with links to the previous one(s) for convenience's sake.
Reading of Japanese mangas is done from right to left, from top to bottom.
Apart from previews or special extracts like the ones I posted over the last weeks, all posts will be locked
Oh, and a word of warning: I am not bilingual. Not by a loooooooooong shot. Although I do know some more advanced stuff from my readings (Nihongo Journal, I miss you *sniff*), I have been studying the material for level 3 JLPT, and am now beginning to have a look at level 2 stuff as well (that is I'm in the transition to intermediate). While I'm studying, I'm hoping with time, I'll offer greater accuracy: it also means I may go back on previous posts to update them with improved translations.
I'll use the followings to indicate when translation may not be satisfactory:
[*] Phrase/ sentence to take with a pitch of salt
[**] Phrase/sentence to take with a larger pitch of salt
[no translate] I don't know, I just don't know *tearing hair*
I may take some liberties with the translation as long as I feel it sounds better in English and the essence of the Japanese text is preserved.
Of course, if you or someone you know are familiar with the language and willing to help, in particular on those parts indicated as "troublesome", please feel free to jump in! I'm grateful for anything I can learn from this experience (also if you catch on mistakes in English, feel free to point them out as well!) ^-^
Comments/suggestions/just about anything welcome
I hope you'll enjoy!
Nam Yensa Sandsea
"Offscreen" voice (Ashe?): "The Dawn Shard....that is our goal"
Balflear: "And jewels like that would be found in remote areas such as this, right?"
Ashe: "Yes, in the west of the Nam Yensa Sandsea. It is said to be in the valley of the dead"
"Offscreen" voice (other than Ashe): "....it will be alright as long as no one does some illegal digging"
Ashe: "?"
"What's that....?!"
