Any recommendations for good dessert anywhere in/around Muncie? Anderson?

Or am I just going to have to drive to Indy to find some?

Looking for a House Cleaner - Recommendations? Sep. 12th, 2008 @ 11:07 pm
[info]haileysheets
Does anyone know someone who does house cleaning in the Muncie/Anderson area? I live in Anderson, and I'm looking for someone to do some bimonthly house cleaning. I would much rather hire an individual than go through a company like Merry Maids. If you happen to have any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks!

I poseted this in my LJ, but I want to warn as many people as I can so this doesn't happen to you!

Just wanted to warn anyone who may read this not to take their computers to Best Buy for repair, especially repairs that require your computer to be shipped for the repair. I took my laptop in a few weeks ago because the screen was going out. I got a call tonight telling me that it was back, they fixed the screen problem and also replaced the hardrive. WTF? Replaced the hardrive? That was NOT what I took it in for! It was done with neither my permission nor my knowledge. Supposedly they can put in an order to send the hardrive to the store I brought it to or a copy can be sent. But what if they can't get that? Everything gone. Photos, music, MASTER'S THESIS. Luckily I've graduated and have other copies of my thesis on my desktop and flash drive. But everything else, including personal information? Gone. NOT COOL. NOT COOL AT ALL!

To make matters even worse, when I called back after receiving the message and demanded a supervisor for the Geek Squad service center, the girl gave me Best Buy's 1-800 number and told me they could connect me. So, after I called it and waited on hold for someone for 10 min, what did they do? Transfer me back to the store! Then the Geek Squad manager proceeded to tell me that they don't have a number for the service center and that all they can do is email them. I want to speak to the technician's supervisor and bitch them out. I want that technician fired. You don't mess with peoples' stuff like that. I will probably be going into the store tomorrow to speak to the actual store manager about this.

I am apalled at what happened and the way their "customer service" people dealt with the situation. Mind you, I was and still am very upset about this, but I wasn't screaming on the phone. I thought I was rather polite under the circumstances. I just cannot believe that this could happen and wanted to warn all I know.

James Buchanan/William Rufus King Musical Aug. 21st, 2008 @ 03:35 pm
[info]sinfulpisces
Hi everyone! I am a playwright and have been working on the concept of this musical for quite some time. It is a musical about 15th Bachelor President James Buchanan and his lover, Vice President and Senator William Rufus King. It will focus on their romance as well as James Buchanan's life in general. I am looking for a composer who is interested in being serious about this project and attempting to make something great with me. I will write the lyrics and book, you write the music. We both share on the creativity of the piece. Anyone interested, please send me a message or e-mail me!

Seeking housing Aug. 21st, 2008 @ 02:02 pm
[info]kinchknifeblade
Hi, I'm from Portland, OR and I'm going to be in Muncie through the end of November. I'm looking for a room in house or co-op or apartment. I'm 24 and finished college in May. Even though I'm not currently a student I would be happy to live with BSU students. Ideal roommates would be fairly liberal and laid back. I will be quiet around the house, clean and I don't have a lot of belongings with me. I'm totally cool with people who smoke and/or party. $400 is roughly my budget, of course I would love to pay less but I would also be willing to pay more to live in the right situation. Please email portlandimyours (at) gmail.com in response or if you'd prefer call 338-8756.

thanks,
Andrew

maths 125 book for sale Aug. 8th, 2008 @ 02:45 pm
[info]dictatordan
i have a maths 125 textbook and study guide for sale.

the titles of the books are "for all practical purposes: mathematical literacy in today's world." and the study guide has that same title, but it says "study guide to accompany for all practical purposes: mathematical literacy in today's world."

i paid $127.20 new at cbx. i'm offering this book for $60 to any future maths 125 students.

that's over a 50% discount. i want to get rid of this book.

the books are in pretty good condition. they're not marked up. the study guide is unused because i dropped the class after two days when i found out i didn't actually need the class.

i don't check this community anymore, so if you want the books please email me at hisnameisdan at gmail dot com

Anyone else have a problem accessing bsu.edu? Or is it just me?

Every time I type in the address I get an error message of some kind. Sometimes it just takes me to a search page.

Graduate assistantships Aug. 6th, 2008 @ 06:51 pm
[info]liselaime
Does anyone know when tuition waivers are applied to your tuition bill? Right now the Cardinal pay system is showing that I owe over $9k, and I'm supposed to have a full tuition waiver with my 20 hour a week assistantship. Also, does anyone know what the deadline is for paying student fees?

Please let me know as soon as possible if you're interested. I want her to go to a good home.

Safety/Crime in Muncie Jul. 24th, 2008 @ 04:59 pm
[info]t4yt4m
Ok, I guess I really should have asked this question a while ago - before I sent in my paperwork for BSU, but I'm asking it now:

How is the crime in Muncie? Particularly around (on and off) campus.

I'm coming up from 4 years in Savannah, GA where I've learned that quite and sleepy towns/cities can hide a load of crime from their visitors.

Do you guys feel safe walking around at night? Until how late? How well lit are the Muncie streets - specifically those surrounding campus?

Do students have to walk through questionable areas frequently - due to location? Where are these questionable areas? What sort of crime happens in these areas? Best and worst streets to walk on (excluding busy streets - Wheeling, Tilitson)

Any other tips on safety/security in Muncie?

Shuttle to Indianpolis Airport Jul. 8th, 2008 @ 08:40 pm
[info]laura921
I'm making plans for a trip in September, and I'm trying to work out the logistics of getting to the airport without a car. So, my question is: Does anyone know of a shuttle service that will take me from Muncie to the Indianapolis airport? So far, internet searches and the phone book have left me empty-handed.

Back home (near Chicago) I know we had a bus service that ran every few hours, but it didn't advertise well at all. Is there something similar in Muncie? Maybe there's not enough demand. So, if not, has anyone here had a good experience with a cab/limo company that they might recommend?

Sublease available immediately Jun. 5th, 2008 @ 01:04 pm
[info]trace_of_tears
Hey guys,

I know I've been posting for the sublease I have available and that the original start date was August 1. However, due to a recent series of events the sublease has opened up and can be filled immediately.

Long and short of it is this - I have a room available to sublease as part of a two-bedroom apartment. The rent is $350 a month, but all utilities are paid for by the landlord and I do provide free cable internet. The apartment is the downstairs of a house on Riverside Ave., which is right on one bus route into campus and within 3 blocks of two others.

The apartment itself is fairly spacious - has a large kitchen and large living room. The bedroom is of modest size but definitely large enough for up to a full-size bed.

If you are interested, please let me (Martin) know here or drop me a line at stonewallgrant@gmail.com or by my cell phone at 765-215-8313 so we can arrange a meeting. I would like to get this sublease filled as soon as possible.

Room for rent - August 2008 May. 22nd, 2008 @ 01:53 am
[info]trace_of_tears
Hello everyone,

I have a room for rent in my apartment starting no later than August 1, 2008.  The apartment is the downstairs of a house and is located about 10 minutes' walking distance from campus.  The apartment heats and cools well, has a spacious kitchen and living room, and the bedroom itself is of a pretty good size with a large closet.  It is located within three blocks of a laundromat and sits within easy walking distance to the major bus routes that run through campus as well - walk out the front door and you're standing at one route and another is only a few blocks down the street.  This place would be ideal for someone attending Ball State.

I am keenly interested in seeing that this room gets rented this fall.  The rent is $350 a month (I can be reasoned with), but all utilities are paid and free cable TV and cable internet are a part of the deal.

If you are interested in renting out this room, please drop me a line off-LJ at projectvortex@hotmail.com.  While I would prefer students who are attending both fall and spring, I am open to other options.

Thanks!
