so i came across this community this morning (hi! *waves*) and i just HAD to make cupcakes, i adored how they looked and i definitely wanted to know how they taste.
i wasn't quite sure whether i'd manage everything as i'm german, but i absolutely insist that my english isn't that bad and so i tried my best and here's the result:

my first rainbow cupcakes EVER ....

This is just boxed white cake mix (doctored up) and from-the-can frosting. I had to make these on a weekday after work, and the thought of making 72 mini cupcakes from scratch made me want to scratch my eyes out. So I cheated. :)

The red isn't as red as I wanted, it's more of a faded red. But I used an entire tube of gel red food coloring, plus half a bottle of liquid red. And that's all I had in the house.

This is my first post and tonight me and my friend made Rainbow Cupcakes. Delicious!

Some look ugly, but thats okay atleast we tried.

Hi guys! I need some advice on a cake, and I figured this was the best place to ask. I'm going to bake a cake for someone's birthday at school, and I plan for it to look like a wedding cake (it's a inside joke :D ). Not with like five tiers and complicated decorations, but at least frosted white with icing, and maybe a couple of layers at most.

The thing is, I have no idea what flavour of cake to make. I thought about making a rainbow cake, but I think I'd like something with a bit more flavour. So, uh, suggestions? I'd rather not go with chocolate either.. Alternatively do you guys have tasty cake recipes I could use for a rainbow cake that aren't necessarily white cakes?

Hello Hello. I have been reading bakebakebake for a very long time but never joined because I don't actually really use my lj for anything anymore. But I finally couldn't exist. So here are some things I've made recently:

So I have been wanting to make these cupcakes since the day she posted them, I thought they were extremely adorable and I just HADDDDDD to have them. June 1st was my boys birthday and I never made him a cake or anything (too poor)... so I told him I would make him those cupcakes as soon as we were able to.... and that day just happened to be today!

A few weeks back a friend of mine requested for rainbow cupcakes for her engagement party. This is my second time making them and I really wanted the layers to be perfect this time around. It took me and my sis almost 2 hours to complete them all but it was definitely worth it! I'm really satisfied with the outcome. :)

I baked these for my friend's surprise birthday party tomorrow! I really hope she likes them because her favourite colour is pink! :D

It was my 21st birthday last week, I wanted a Marie Antoinette (the fim) inspired cake and this is what I came up with. It tasted pretty awesome.
It's just a victoria sponge, nothing amazing.

funny story...the orange was originally neon, but my friend and i accidentally added some random color, and ended up with what we like to call "terracotta"

This is my first post here, though I have been watching this community for a while. I decided it was only appropriate for my first post to be Rainbow Cupcakes. I used a recipe out of Southern Living magazine called Our Best Ever Cakes and Pies. The recipe is called Celebration Cake.  I also used the cream cheese icing recipe they suggested. I think they turned out really well. This might be my new favorite cake recipe.  I'm not sure how to post pictures, so I'll just try one for now.

So, I think last time I posted, I think I mentioned an idea I had to make flavoured rainbow cupcakes. I had no occasion then, but tonight is my friend Claire's early birthday/going away party. So, with some additional inspiration from longpig, I present...

I recently made some mini cupcakes! Yesterday I made the pumpkin chocolate chip ones from VCTOTW (but didn't take any pictures) and today it was rainy so I made these!

(Sorry that the photos aren't the best. I didn't feel like going upstairs to get the real camera so I just used my handy dandy camera phone instead. I tried to brighten them up a bit in Photoshop.)


First batch cooling. There were six noncolored ones and than six rainbow ones, but my sister ate a few...

So i just used a random cupcake recipe we always use to make cupcakes and added some colours... i was very happy with how they turned out.. next time i will pay more attention to how long they have been in the oven though, as i over cooked them a little, which dulled the colour on the outside.. but not on the inside!!!! ..would add some form of icing if i was taking them somewhere but since they are for the family and the family isn't big on icing, i left them as is..

I finally caved and made a few cupcake cones this weekend to try out the rainbow thing... They didn't turn out as spectacularly as I'd hoped - I think because the cone is so narrow the layers got more mixed up when the cake rose. Or maybe I just suck! They are still cute and tasty though.
