Baby, I burnt my sandwich
05 March 2008, 06:30 pm
mood: pensive

Burnt butter brown sugar cookie sandwiches. With nutella filling. I adore brown sugar cookies. My preference over regular sugar cookies. As I was going to make these, it hit me that the theme of the month was burnt butter (Edit: Actually, the theme is burnt sugar. My bad haha). And I mean, you hear all about burnt butter brown sugar cupcakes... it could translate into a cookie, right? Right. Now, I still prefer the cupcake. But these cookies were delightful too. Just a slight nutty taste in the end result. And the nutella... *moans* just makes the cookie that much more. You only need a very thin glaze of nutella however. Too much would overwhelm the cookie, in my opinion. All and all, loved the product. I ended up eating about five as I was putting the sandwiches together. Hehe, shh though. Boyfriend is curious as to why I have no appetite tonight. Didn't have the heart to tell him I stuffed myself full of cookies. :D

Christmas is one of the many joyous occasions that gives me the perfect reason/opportunity to bake! This year, I didn't feel adventurous enough so I stuck to safe options like.. cookies, cupcakes, pies and all that jazz..

  Nutella cupcakes
20 December 2007, 10:14 pm

This recipe is from Donna Hay and i got them from bakingbites.com
http://bakingbites.com/2005/07/cooking-school-self-frosting-cupcakes/#more-181

It looks fantastic but its taste is rather let-down. Maybe because it's a cupcake but everyone mistook this as a muffin and commented that it was too dry. I tried the recipe again and aded a tablespoon of milk and a dollop of nutella in between in hope of making the pastry a little more moist.

This failed and i'm hoping you guys can help improve on this recipe!

  cake for a hero
17 June 2007, 04:34 pm

my dad came home from a business buffet dinner to a chocolate cake with the oven's warm breath still upon it and he said it was far better then the array of cakes he had at the buffet so i'm one really happy kid :)

anyway, i posted it at my personal blog too but i think it'll be better appreciated here :) hope everyone has a wonderful father's day!

Chocolate hazelnut mousse-like cake topped and slathered with dark chocolate ganache and dotted with milk chocolate spots.
ps. i'm going for a walk now because this cake is not diet-friendly: it's basically dark chocolate, butter, nutella, ground nuts and eggs. but it's worth every calorie, i promise :)

I got this idea from another forum I frequent. Take a tube of Pillsbury crescent rolls and unroll them as usual... Then spread them with a small amount of nutella, or jam, or a bit of each, before rolling them up and baking them. Verdict: delicious!

i was tempted to bake while i was feeling a little under the weather a few days back but i was disgusted at the thought that my end product would be infested with my sick germs. feeling very much better after a few days of popping pills, i finally decided to succumb to the temptation.
