Looking for a room/roommates in/around San Francisco

I will be in need of a new place to stay by, the very latest, end of October. The lease on my apartment in Pacifica ends at the end of October, and my roommate just moved out; at the end of the lease the rent will go up a little higher than I'm willing to pay, plus I'm not a big fan of the management and maintenance crew here.

So, I'm looking to either find a room or look for an apartment/house to rent with other furs, preferably IN San Francisco, but also willing to look at the upper peninsula as long as it is close to a transportation corridor and I can get to the city quickly. I've lived in the Bay Area nearly my whole life and don't much care for suburbia ... I'd rather be in a more metropolitan setting, even if it means paying a bit extra.

I have full-time employment and can afford up to $1000/mo though realistically I'd like to pay no more than $700-800.

Well, some brief details about me: I am a 27-yo bi male ... fursona is a tiger ... I work full time but will also be going back to school on top of that starting in January ... Personality-wise I am pretty easygoing and mellow, responsible, not particularly loud but also very sociable. I have a preference for being outdoors rather than stuck inside all day. It's possible that you might not see a huge amount of me but I do contribute actively to the household and do my share of cleaning and upkeep; in fact in previous rooming situations I've often been the responsible one that keeps everything together, but other than paying rent and bills on time I'm not an order freak. It's true I am not hugely active in the fur community here (though that can always improve) but I have a circle of fur friends around the country whom I keep up with regularly, and I like attending conventions and traveling from time to time.

If anyone wants to go apartment/house hunting with me, or has a room for rent starting anytime in October, and you would like to get to know me further, please feel free to get in touch with me. My messengers are listed in my profile, if you would prefer to get in touch with me that way.

Regards,

Vidan

Okay, guys, I'm not sure about the details entirely. It's going to be awesome, though, that's for sure. I just don't know 100% what time we should all meet. I'll say this, though, I get out of my classes at SFSU tomorrow at 2PM, and my guests, kalika_tybera and bigkittywolf aren't going to be available until the evening. Like, after 5:00. Perhaps earlier, but it's a stretch. Regardless, I don't think there's any real established time to meet at JapanTown, but we will be going for dinner at some point after 6 PM. If you want to show up earlier, it sounds good to me. If I come up with an update by tomorrow afternoon, I'll be sure to let you all know, that sound good?
Send me an email (FrostDemn at Yahoo dot com) if you have questions or want some other form of contact info or something. :3 I hope to see you all there!

Yes, it's a bit late, but the plans have been arranged sorta a few weeks back. I'm still excited and definitely going. I hope to see you all soon! ^^

I hope lots of folks in the area can come to it!

Above that note, we currently also have plans for a trip out to JapanTown (On Geary Street in San Francisco) on Friday evening, and some walking around Downtown SF (Including Pier 39 for seafood and shopping and the like) on Saturday! I hope there are some folk interested in joining us! Bring some sketchbooks, we also want to do lots of artwork together!
Does anybody have suggestions? Can I look forward to seeing anybody? I certainly hope so!! :D
Hello all!

Ok I have worked out most of the details so here it goes.

There is going to be a Furry pub crawl on the 25th of October down in the Leather section of San Fransisco. It is open to all that are 21 or over. We will stop at each bar for one hour and then move on until finally stopping at the Eagle where the Castro Lions club are holding a Costume contest.

The Schedule is...

the Hole in the wall at 4:00
Chaps at 5:00
Powerhouse at 6:00
Lone star at 7:00

And then the Eagle at 8:00.

We will keep to this schedule EXACTLY. You can meet us at any bar or just show up at the Eagle for the contest (some of you might want to show off your less mobile fursuits) . I have talked to the Eagle and they say they can arrange changing space. I will work that out with them prior to the 25th.

Rules

You dont have to drink alcohol, They do serve other drinks there.
You do not have to be gay. These bars are very strait friendly ...at least during the daytime.
Please be in some type of furry attire. At the least wear a tail.
If your going to drink allot please plan on a way to get home and don't drive. Some still remain but there are many others there too from more recent years.

This place sees to the cats in an effort to give them the best life possible but do so through donations and sponsorships. I am working on setting up donations from me, but if anyone else would like to help them out as well I would appreciate it as would the cats.

The site link is www.bigcatcare.org

These cats played a major role in my life and showed me a part of myself I was unaware of.
Town Cats: Urgent Plea for Bay Area Fosters (Spreading the word)

I'm sad to say I'm not a viable home for any of them due to allergies, but if I could do anything, it's spread the word. The following is her post:

Town Cats, the nonprofit feline rescue we volunteer with, is in the process of raiding a horder home in the area, 100 cats confined to one household. All we know so far is that the cats are friendly. We'll know more in a few days.

Town Cats itself can hold about 20 of these guys, and they've sent out an urgent plea for foster homes for the other 80. These cats will be destroyed at local shelters if we don't take them. Arty and I will be fostering what we can. I am hoping that none of them end up going to shelters, which is why I'm putting a call out here.

If you are in the bay area, CA, and are willing to foster or adopt, or know someone who is here and may be willing, please let me know. And please feel free to spread the word.

(My own siamese cat, Red Dog, was rescued from a hording situation--he's probably the best cat I've ever had. That's a big reason as to why I feel so strongly about helping out with this.)

- Vinci

Please, if anybody is able to help, please do so!

Rainfurrest is only 10 weeks away!, Here's what going on for July 2008.

Last year we had a wonderful event, and we knocked a lot of furs socks off with how fun rainfurrest was. This year our goal has been simple and clear. If we do something, we do it to the best of our abilities or not at all. We hope that everyone who comes will see this throughout our con. With that we'd like to take a chance to invite you to read below to get up to date with what's happening with Rainfurrest.

In this Newsletter:
===============
Hotel.
Food and Beverage.
Con Book.
Dealer's Den.
Art Show.
Registration News.
Dances.
Events.
Staffing.
Closing.
===============

=====
Hotel.
=====

Our hotel room block has sold out several times already and the hotel itself is starting to get near sold out entirely. We keep expanding the room block, but we have already broken last years room block size by a substantial amount and eventually the hotel will sell out. This is GREAT news. Unfortunately it means some people calling the reservation line got told by the telephone rep that the event code was both invalid, and no longer there. If this happens to you please contact our hotel rep through the website, or just simply phone in and try again the following day. Or if it's a real urgent situation please call Aloha at 425-223-3969. Currently we are pushing 250 roomnights right now, and continuing to grow, if need be an overflow hotel will be looked into, if you have questions about our event, please be sure to check out our webpage.

Some quick things to note are as follows:
* Deadline to book a hotel room is September 5th, after that you'll be stuck with the regular room rate.
* If you booked a room and it's not at the convention rate, please contact us.
(http://www.rainfurrest.com/contact.php?contact_selected=Hotel
* For hotel room rates please see http://www.rainfurrest.com/travel.php
* Parking rates are 5$ per day for all attendees, and 22$ per day for valet.
* When contacting the hotel, our room booking code is: rairaia

=====
Food and Beverage.
=====

The Dinner will be at 7pm on Saturday, and the cost is $15.00 for Coach and Business Class Attendees, and free for First Class.

The Menu is:
* Caesar Salad
* Orange Ginger Chicken
* Garlic Broccoli
* Sesame Fried Rice
* Brownies and Beverage Service.

Cartoons and Cereal will be served at 8am to 10am on Saturday morning in the main theatrical area, we are working our hardest to have both soy, and rice milk alternatives for those who come early and need it.

Ice Cream Social, our ice cream social will be spectacular this year with three different kinds of Haagen Daz ice cream, and a multitude of toppings.

=====
Con Book.
=====

Our con book this year is still looking for submissions from artists, writers, and advertisers who want to be published in this years book. Please contact us right away as the publishing deadline is fast approaching. http://www.rainfurrest.com/contact.php?contact_selected=Con%20Book

=====
Dealers Den.
=====

The dealers den is also starting to sell out, so if your looking to sell at this years convention please act quickly. The dealers membership is $80 and provides you with your convention membership and one dealer table 6 feet in length. For more information, and Information on how to purchase a table, please visit http://rainfurrest.com/dealer.php

=====
Art Show.
=====

Welcome to RainFurrest Airline's 2008 Art Show. Our panels are selling quickly and we'd like to see all of the favored artists in our community participate. We'd like to see all of you there and are looking forward to seeing you.

Art show panels will be $10 each. Our panels are approximately 4 feet wide and 6 feet tall and are the same as pretty much every other convention out there. There will also be an additional 10% commission fee on all sales in the art show. For More Information, on how to Purchase a Panel, please visit http://rainfurrest.com/artshow.php

This year our artshow is going to be staffed by Angel, however, this will be his last year being our artshow lead, because he wants to move on to other departments next year. This means that there is a opening for a new artshow lead for 2009. If you think you have what it takes to be the artshow lead in 2009 please come forward and volunteer this year with Angel so that we can get to know you. If no one comes forward, we may not have a artshow lead for 2009, and thereby no artshow.

=====
Registration News.
=====

Registration numbers are coming in strong! We are already 3 times larger this year than we were last year at this time, and we still have 2 months to go! How you decide to join us at Rainfurrest can make a significant difference in how we can run the convention.

Your registration can help the convention in additional ways! Our premium 'Business Class' and 'First Class' options allow you to show your support of the convention, receive VIP treatment, and get some great freebies in return! We're working hard to have some very unique, themed giveaways for our flight-themed year!

We are doing all we can to make your 'flight' an exciting one! For more information or to register now please visit: http://www.rainfurrest.com/reg.php

=====
Dances.
=====

We're pleased to announce that the dances at RainFurrest have been expanded this year! We will be rocking the house on Friday and Saturday nights from 9PM all the way until 2AM, with DJ both old and new. Friday night will see Digi-fox starting us off, followed by Jango's DNB groove. On Saturday night, we'll get the evening rolling with EarVelvet and finish up with DJ Angel, straight from the Rainbow Tiger in Second Life.

We've also created some fursuit-friendly times during the dances. 9-11PM on Friday night, and 9-10PM on Saturday night, there will be no strobe lights active. The strobes will also be doused on Saturday at midnight, and you'd all better show up, because we're going to do the Time Warp again!

=====
Events.
=====

Most if not all cons have a masquerade or cosplay where we get to show off, but our poor plushies sit in the room all alone. Now we at RainFurrest we think our plushy friends should get there time in the spot light too. So we will be having a Plushy Costume contest, with a twist. You have from now until Saturday September 26th, 2008 at midnight to get registered for the contest.

Gaming this year is ramping up with Rock Band, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Golden Eye, Pokemon Trade/Battle(DS), a DDR Tournament, and Halo Free for all, just to mention a few.

For more information about any of these events, please go to http://rainfurrest.com/contact.php and choose the appropriate department (Art, writing, gaming, or events scheduling) from the drop down menu.

=====
Staffing.
=====

We are in the unfortunate situation to be looking for a replacement hospitality lead this year. Please contact us if you're interested.

We are now recruiting for a web designer for 2009. For all of those who think they have the skill and the talent to make our website great, please come forward, we'd like to have the 2009 web design finished before the convention starts.

We are still accepting staff for this year in certain areas, please come forward if you'd like to volunteer for this year.

=====
Closing.
=====

While this was a somewhat longer newsletter than your probably used to, I think that you'll agree that this is chock full of great new information. As a final note, we already have a hotel contract for 2009 with the Marriott on the condition that this year goes smoothly and the majority are happy with the hotel. Be sure to come by the opening ceremonies of the convention, there's lots of progress happening with Rainfurrest!
