    Art for Trade
    X-Posted on FurryArtists

Hello, I'm Kensan Oni, and I could use your help.

My family is in dire straights at the moment. Due to an error with paperwork, my father was denied unemployment insurance. While we are sure his appeal will go through and correct the issue, that leaves the family completely broke, and me waiting on temp agencies to get through for me.

We really could use Gift Cards for food, right now. You probably could use some art that you could show regular people, too. Here is what I'm offering.

In exchange for $20 gift cards to Target, Walmart, and Safeway, or a Visa Gift Card, I will create a 9"x12" Wildlife Watercolor illustration for you. One animal, simple background, similar to my samples.

    Samples:
    http://kensanoni.deviantart.com/art/Zebras-126452205
    http://kensanoni.deviantart.com/art/Blue-Whale-2-124771905
    http://kensanoni.deviantart.com/art/Giraffe-2-Mother-s-Care-122991748
    http://kensanoni.deviantart.com/art/Day-and-Night-Koi-Part-3-118229772
    http://kensanoni.deviantart.com/art/Grizzly-1-110360256

I also, of course, will consider performing more traditional G Rated Furry artwork, also. I just prefer working with Wildlife and Animal images at the moment.

If you can help out, please contact me. I really appreciate any consideration for this call.

    Thank you,
    Kensan_Oni

    Bart! Why you little...
I knew about this for a couple of days from an inside source but wanted it to break in the news before I announced it.

For all the local BAfurs, BART is planning a strike in early July.

    From SFist.com
Apparently we're eight days away from the end of BART workers' current contract, and therefore eight days away from a possible BART strike due to the aggressive negotiations necessary in the face of BART's (and everyone else's) fiscal crisis. In this charming, arguably anti-labor report from KRON4, we learn that it takes 2 people to replace a cushion on a BART train, and some BART employees make more in overtime than they do in regular salary. "So this is in the midst of rising fares, rising parking fees, they're $250 million in the hole -- how can this be happening?!" asks the appalled anchorwoman.

The workers' union blames bad management, saying that "high executive salaries and bonuses, and tens of thousands of dollars of expenditures on catering, promotional items, labor consultants [and] clothing" are responsible for the current crisis. The last BART strike was in 1997 when 85,000 fewer people were riding the trains. Should a strike occur, expect major messes on the bridges, broken Muni trains, packed buses and plenty of local news outrage. Also, expect that we won't be seeing 24-hour BART service in our lifetimes.
    Original article

I'll be able to telecommute to work from our East Bay office. I hope others who rely on BART are able to make similar arrangements.

Cabaret - Zoot Suit! THIS WEEKEND in OAKLAND!
I'll be appearing in my wolf costume at this show Saturday and Sunday evenings :)

Saturday June 20th, 7:30 pm @ First Christian Church of Oakland

Sunday June 21st, 5:00 pm @ First Christian Church of Oakland

Tickets and details at this link

Put on your Zoot Suit and feathered hat and join Michael Robert Patch and the Oakland-East Bay Gay Men's Chorus for our 3rd annual Cabaret! Fine food, fine wine, silent auction, and of course, the swing'n-est bunch of gay singers in town. Joined by Swing Fever, the most jivin' swing band in the San Francisco Bay Area. This evening will prove to be our most electric and high speed Cabaret yet!

Wine will be on the tables for those purchasing table seating. Hors d'oeuvres are served to all ticket holders and are included with your ticket.

Enjoy the full chorus, our small ensemble Otto Voci, plus the vocal stylings of individual chorus members performing songs of the era.

During the intermission, we have our usual silent auction for items like vacation venues, mixed cases of wine, original artworks, etc., as well as an open cash bar with proceeds benefiting the chorus and its various philanthropic ventures.

Costumes and quite a lot of fun are built into this brief run. We're trying out a new venue too. The Fellowship Hall of the First Christian Church of Oakland. Its in a great old building with the show set on the stage of their large hall. There's lots of parking available and its straight up Broadway from the 19th Street BART station.

** Bring your dancing shoes and feel free to come in your best period costume and win a prize!**

NOTE: No one under 21 years old will be admitted.

a butt-load of fake fur scraps
We have about 10 trash-bags FULL of fake fur scraps. They are FREE for the taking. Most are similar to the DF "promo shag" (fluffy fur) and their dready stuff. Black, white, pink, red, and some random things.

Hit me back to arrange a time to pick them up. We're in East Oakland.

    Baycon, anyone?
Okay, so, new question. Now that I know about Baycon, who's going to Baycon this weekend? Anyone want to suit up there (and it'll undoubtedly be a more suit friendly place than Fanime)?

    Fanime, anyone?
Is anyone on here going to Fanime? I'm interested in hanging out with some furs during my time here, especially since I realize that anime probably won't hold my interest for the whole weekend. I'm planning on doing some suiting, too.

Anyone know of any meets that are happening at Fanime or otherwise this weekend?

    How Weird Street Fair, anyone?
Any furs goin' to the How Weird Street Fair in San Francisco this Sunday?

Apparently if you purchase a Magic Sticker (which goes toward supporting the event and entitles you to a bunch of benefits at the fair), it's discounted for those in costume (perfect incentive to wear a suit, no? ;]).

Anyhow, if you're thinking of going, comment here! I think it might be fun to meet up! :)

roomate wanted june 1st san jose $800 plus utilities
    Hello there,
I live in Almaden Lake Village Apartments in San Jose. One of our roomates is leaving and we need to find a replacement.

    About the apartment:
see the link below.. this is a very nice complex right on Lake Almaden. We live on the third floor (walk up) and have ten foot vaulted ceilings with floor to ceiling windows in the living room. We have a dining room, living room2 balcony's, 3 bedrooms, a closet in the hallway just for you as well as 2 others, our own laundry room with washer/dryer, ac and heat, 2 bathrooms (one is in the master bedroom, the other you share) 2 parking spots we share in an underground garage and extra parking at the light rail right next to our building. We have a completely gated complex with key fobs to get in. The complex has a pool, hottub, workout room, clubhouse, and patio. There is a security patrol as well. We have cable and wireless internet. Your room is medium sized, a good sized window overlooking the lake and mountain, and a closet. We are literally right on the light rail, at the almaden station. This is definatly a luxury apartment; the grounds are beautiful and its very safe and clean.

    About Us:
We are alternative lifestyle friendly! Both roomates are 420 friendly. We like the furry community as well as the burning man community. We are laid back stoners who have grown up, so we're very clean and tidy, and have gotten to the age where we're not party animals anymore. We're mostly quiet and chill people.
I am 29 and work as a dominatrix/adult model I also do fashion design on the side. I have 2 dogs that live here.. a miniature pinscher and a husky/australian shephard mix. They're both 5 years old and very chill dogs. My boyfriend AJ spends a good amount of time visiting but we wont get in your way :)
Harley is a 36 year old ex-navy electrician. He's very chill and responsible.

Utiliies: We pay water/sewage/garbage, cable/internet, and electricity. That comes out to about $150 a person a month max.

    Deposit: $100

You should be fairly clean, able to clean up after yourself. You should be able to get along with dogs. Laid back people/ alternative lifestyles a plus :)

Email me here if you're interested!

    Furry Camping trip in July
Im thinking of organizing a furry camping trip to Los Padres National Forest near Big Sur (about 1 1/2 - 2 hours south of san jose) sometime in July.  I drove past it last week and its simply gorgeous.  Its off HWY 1 and since its a giant national forest, there isnt anything near it for miles except the beach.. the woods, and the mountains.  I figure this will be a great burning man preperation trip/ burning man crazy party / throwback to the beach raves at red white and blue beach.  Id ideally like to get a bunch of people to go.. throw a big furry/burner party.  Anyone think this is a good idea?

    Local IRC chat place
It's been awhile since I've made a post about this, but I try to keep everyone in the loop and let newcomers aware of our local chat network.
I currently admin the San Francisco Bay Area chat channel and have heard people would like to stop in and chat awhile. We've had this channel since around 2003 and still going strong. On average, we have anywhere from 20 - 30 fuzzies in here chatting it up.

Not a local? Come by anyway. We have about 10 regulars who aren't in the area, but come by to just hang out.

For the savvy, we're on the Anthrochat IRC network (irc.anthrochat.net) in channel #baycafe.

For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, send me a reply and I'll do my best to walk you though the steps.

I've found two patches as I've been helping people move.
One is already up for auction. But before I put the other one on
auction, I thought I'd offer it to the BAF community. Contact me
    off-list!

    The Caption Game
This was a game that was played at tonight's Berkeley FurMeet, posted at the request of those that participated. I brought a pack of index cards and an idea I got from a game I saw posted somewhere online.
The game starts with a short phrase. That phrase is given to one person, who illustrates it. That person then shows the illustration ONLY to the next person, who gives it their own caption. Only that caption is passed to the next player, who draws their interpretation and so on. In other words, it's sort of like the Telephone game with pictures and captions.
Several folks participated, and I think the results can be hilarious.
    Our results? )

    $10 Tiger Tees
Hey cats. I've got a shirt design up for preorder at Cameesa:

The way Cameesa works, briefly, is like this:

    1.) Artist submits t-shirt design.

2.) People preorder the design by 'supporting' it, for $10.

3.) When a design has accrued $500 in support, it goes to print, and everyone gets their tees.

They've got a deal going for the next few days (not sure when it ends) for free shipping on all preorders, as well. That's not a bad deal for a shirt!

On Saturday the 21st, the local group of monterey bay furries is going to have a sketch crawl down at the Aquarium. We'll probably convene at a nearby location and loiter until everyone's shown up sometime in the late morning, and then mosey over to the aquarium as a group. If you're within driving distance and interested, you're welcome to join us. Drop me an email at astolpho_on_the_moon (at) yahoo.com or leave your email address in the comments and I'll include you in the CC list when I send out the announcement with more solid plans later this evening or tomorrow. I'll also be sending the announcement to the BAF list.
