AboutThis community is for the buying, selling, and trading of body jewelery between BAF forum members ONLY. This community was created since the classifieds had to be deleted from the BAF forums.
This community is for baf forum members only. So please do not advertise for this community. We are having a huge amount of people joining the forums just to join the new classifieds. If this sounds like you, please do not join unless you intend to become an active member on the BAF forums. There are already plenty of trading comms on LJ for you to join. We are trying to keep this LJ community restricted to the people we know and trust on the BAF forums. I do not intend to sound mean, but it defeats the purpose of the LJ community to have people doing this- it is not only annoying the mods, but upsetting the members. Yes, you do have to be approved to join. And yes, we do have a way of knowing if you are a part of the forums or not. Each member's BAF user name is included in the tags. Members are encouraged to check each others' activity on BAF, and we will see that you joined baf just to join this comm.
This community is in no way affiliated with BAF (bodyartforms.com). They are not responsible for any of the actions taken by this communities members. Do not contact them for any reason concerning transactions or disputes in this community.
Rules:
1.) The first rule of baf_trade is, "do not talk about baf_trade".
2.) Neither BAF nor the moderators of this community are responsible for the actions taken by this communities members. The mods are here to enforce the rules.
3.) The buyer assumes all responsibilities and liabilities when entering a transaction. Though this is a more tightly knit community, please be aware that this is the internet and there are scammers. Using services like PayPal and requesting delivery confirmation/insurance helps protect both the buyer and the seller.
4.) It is the buyer's responsibility to properly sterilize the jewelery purchased through this community. Materials such as glass, steel, titanium, niobium, etc., can be brought to a local piercing shop and autoclaved for a small fee (sometimes even free!). The buyer assumes all health risks when wearing used jewelery.
5.) All body jewelery types and materials are allowed to be sold here, but please do keep in mind that organic materials and acrylics cannot be autoclaved or sterilized.
6.) You may have one small image (400 x 400 or smaller) outside of an LJ-cut. All other images must be behind an LJ-cut. Information on how to make an LJ-cut can be found here.
7.) NO advertising other communities.
8.) NO linking to another selling post. Just cross-post your post into this community. But please DO NOT put "cross posted to baf_trade" in any posts in other communities or tell other random people about baf_trade. Unlike the awesome power of BAF, we actually DON'T want word of mouth spreading about baf_trade. I think that this is one way that random people are finding out about it.
There's no really good way to enforce this. The only thing I can really say is that if anyone sees mention of it anywhere (especially a popular comm like gaugetrade!), to comment to remind the seller to take off the reference (hehe, but don't say, "hey take off that baf_trade reference!" because that's just another reference)
9.) Your ad may be edited/deleted at any time by a mod if it is deemed inappropriate (for example, selling things other than body jewelery). You may be asked to edit your own entry if there is an issue before a mod edits/deletes your post. You will be given 24 hours to fix your post.
10.) If you have an issue with your transaction, please contact the buyer/seller directly. A contact post can be made here as a last resort. Do NOT make posts in the BAF forums about your transactions or experiences with other forum members- this will also result in being banned.
11.) No drama. No name calling. Just play nice.
12.) Three strikes and you're OUT. If you receive three negative feedbacks from community members, you will feel the wrath of the bannination hammer.
13) All entries are to be set to "Show this entry to: Members" so that only community members may view content. If you change the default setting repeatedly, your entries will be deleted and you may be removed from the community.
14) Do not delete selling ads nor comments within ads. It's important to keep a record of transactions and exchanges. This aids in keep track of both monetarily based information and written agreements concerning sale details.
Directions on How to Post/The Feedback System
1.) All selling ads should be tagged with your own username tag. The format is "LJ name/BAF name". In addition, all ads must have appropriate sizing tags attached.
2). All selling ads should have a descriptive title or LJ-cut. Brief, uncluttered notation regarding gauge and design of available item(s) is particularly useful.
3.) All feedback should be tagged with the seller's tag and "positive feedback", "neutral feedback", or "negative feedback". Please feel free to leave buyer feedback as well in the same manner.
4.) All negative feedback and bannination of users in this community in other communities (primarily gauge_trade) has now been added to the memories. Users of baf_trade will not be punished for their actions in other communities, but as a community we decided that it is fair to make these negative actions public and accessible to users here. Please do note the dates and read through the entries before you enter into a transaction with another user.
This system makes it very easy to see someone's personal feedback. You may also choose to add your feedback to your personal LJ's memories for your own records. We do have a limit on the number of tags we can have, but I do not think that we will have enough members to make this an issue. If this becomes an issue, a new system will be formulated.
Please do not create any tags besides the one for your LJ user name/BAF name- they will just be deleted as soon as they are spotted. Communities have a 1000 tag limit.
