Gather round for another session of Tales from the HP Uni Game of Fail! For previous tales of the HP Uni Game of Fail check out this comment. :)
The HP Uni Game of Fail was my second RPG ever, and I hadn't been RPing long at all. Fortunately, I was literate and had a pretty decent grasp of rules - people who spoke to me thought I had been rping for a long time. Awesomesauce.
So some of my friends and I had an idea. Two of us thought it would be cool to play identical twins. Someone else wished they could join in, and we ended up with trips. Our one male friend wanted in on it, too, and he ended up playing the poor stressed out and harassed older brother. Really, who wouldn't be stressed out having to look after not one, but three baby sisters?
So we plotted out characters' family - middle class, Jewish Canadians, parents decided to give their son a baby brother or sister, but ended up with trips... - chose PBs, discussed the relationships etc. and ended up with a very solid base. Meanwhile, we registered our characters, went through the posting processes, and posted our bios.
But unlike the epilogue of Deathly Hallows, all was not well.
I got online the next morning (boo, timezones and sleep) and was immediately pounced upon by the player of the youngest triplet. She was furious, and she immediately let me know why.
Less than twelve hours after we had registered our characters - never mind actually revealed what they were about - there appeared a set of triplets (who had an older brother). All played by this one player, known for her love of anything "exotic", failure to write coherently, and for mass-deletions of her bad stereotypes. She had made a set of triplets, and it was hard not to feel as though she had intended to "improve" on our own - where ours were nice-looking, hers were described as being stunning. Where ours were bright, hers with claimed to be geniuses. Where ours were comfortable and didn't have to worry about money too much (they were still on scholarships though, because hey, triplets + uni != cheap), hers were richer than God.
After much ranting to each other, older brother decided to fire off a PM to the head mod. We didn't expect too much because head mod (HM) and exotic triplets player (ETP) were bestest friends OMG. So we worded the PM asking HM if ETP had mentioned anything about triplets before we presented the game with ours, and just mentioning that we felt it was a little too close for comfort, having a set of triplets (whose personalities even corresponded with each of our triplets!) appear not even a day after ours did.
Well...
HM PMed us back, angry that we would dare suggest such a thing. And that since ETP was known for deleting characters all the time, all we had to do was wait for ETP to delete those too. Furthermore, since HM had to deal with people copying one of her characters (this character, by the way, was the obvious stock character of "sexually empowered woman with no other personality trait whatsoever"), we had to put up with it too.
Never mind that, as the mod, HM could have done something about it. Especially since the rules stated that copying was not allowed and all.
Eventually ETP did delete her triplets, but the fun had gone quickly from our family.
And now there's another set of triplets + older brother. But they're all teenage assassins. For real.
