Hi everyone!

No Mother Left Behind needs a new shipping/donations director for the central United States. This person is in charge of receiving and distributing donations within their zone. Responsibilities include:

-receiving donated carriers from individuals and businesses
-ensuring these carriers are safe for use
-keeping a detailed list of inventory
-shipping carriers in a timely manner to pre-approved recepients

This person should have a fair knowledge of baby carriers and have regular access to a computer and email. You must have a PayPal address and be able to print shipping labels or go to the post office when (you will be reimursed for shipping costs).

This person will be in charge of Zone 4 of NMLB's donations, and therefore must be located in one of the following states:

Iowa
Illinois
Missouri
Arkansas
Tennessee
Mississippi
Louisiana

Prefrence will be given to those applicants in St Louis, as this is where our inventory currently is and we would prefer to save on shipping. If you are interested, please send an email to andi-mama@hotmail.com (no PMs, please!) and tell me a bit about yourself, your babywearing history, as well as links to two forms of feedback.

Hi everyone! Some of you may not know me as I haven't made a NMLB post in awhile. I am Andrea, and I am the owner of No Mother Left Behind. For those that do not know what NMLB, we are a non-profit organization who collects donated baby carriers and distributes them free of cost to low-income mothers. We believe that all mothers and babies should benefit from babywearing, regardless of their financial situation.

No Mother Left Behind is looking for a volunteer to take over our central US Donation and Shipping zone. This job includes:

-accepting donated carriers and ensuring they are suitable for use by recipients
-keeping a detailed and up-to-date inventory of carriers in their possession
-shipping carriers to pre-approved addresses. You will not be required to pay for shipping yourself.

This person should have at least some first-hand babywearing experience and be fairly knowledgeable about different baby carriers. This person needs to live full-time in any of the following states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma or Texas. Preference will be given to those in Texas (this is where our inventory is currently located, and shipping will be cheaper to another Texas location).

If you are interested, please send an email to andi-mama @ hotmail.com with "NMLB Zone 3 Application" in the subject line. Please include a brief overview of your babywearing experience, why you would like this position and links to two sources of feedback (LJ, TBW, eBay, etc).

Thank you!

I got a Mama's Milk sling from No Mother Left Behind a long time ago and now that I'm preparing for my daughter's arrival, I was wondering how to adjust it to fit us. It has velcro adjustments... Where is the bottom of the sling supposed to sit without a baby in it?

Just letting everyone know that I just talked to our 100th mom (No Mother Left Behind)and she is just perfect for the sling and gift basket! I had a hard time getting ahold of her because she had her baby yesterday! A boy!

She is very sweet and had both her children (another boy around 3 years)naturally and tried to babywear with her first but only had one of those yucky ones from Wal-Mart so gave up. She coth diapers with prefolds and plastic covers. (Won't she be surprised to see that the gift basket has a start up set from G-diapers!)And she breastfeeds!

And motherwear just sent us a gift certificate for the basket!

I'll be posting photos after the event which takes place on May 3rd!

Thanks everyone!

Wow, thanks everyone for the great response! I love this community!

We are putting together a gift basket full of natural parenting items donated by WAHM's to give our 100th mom in need. I will make a list of all the items, with websites, to give to the reporters so that they can include the information in any articles published.

If you would like to donate an item please e-mail me at: mary @ openarmsparenting dot com

This is the list so far:

Nifty Baby: Ring Sling
Amy May's Mei Tais: Nursing Bracelet
K-Wraps: Nursing Necklace
Hands Free Baby: Babylegs
Made by Maria: diaper bag

Thanks everyone!
~Mary

*Would like to add that since we have a ring sling to give away we do not need another sling, NMLB rules state that we can only give ONE sling per mother. However if you only make slings and would still like to help you can donate a gift certificate. Thanks!*

I'm just letting everyone know that No Mother Left Behind now has printable cards up on the site!

So you can keep a few in your diaper bag to pass out when you meet a mother who needs a baby sling but cannot afford one.

We are working on a flyer with more information also. This way you can take a flyer and a handful of cards to your local WIC office, free clinics, and anywhere else that low-income mothers might be.

Cards are here http://nomotherleftbehind.com/promote/

Thank you for your support of this program!

There has been a lot of exciting things going on this past month at NMLB!

I am pleased to announce that Jason has taken advantage of his Christmas break and added a few more pages and photos to the website!

We also now offer three different levels of “gifts” to our sponsors! (banner ads) Anyone who donates either slings or money to the No Mother Left Behind program is eligible to take part in our sponsors program. No Mother Left Behind currently averages 1,500 unique visits a month.

Our new total is 62! Since October 22nd 62 mothers in need have been provided with a baby sling!

Go here to read this month’s update and to check out all the changes!
