babyhawk options
For those of you who have Babyhawks...

Did you get the toy ring? what about the pocket? Would you recommend them or are they not a big deal if I want to save the money?

flopping sleeping head in m.t.
hi mom's!

my 14 mo. old is on my back in the babyhawk m.t. right now, asleep. this is a daily occurence, all well and good. except that i have to bend my back over so his head doesn't flop around. it's really causing me some back aches. and i even got a clogged duct last week because the ties were compressing my arm pit in a way that made that happen when i was stooped over.

i don't have the $ for an ergo. is there anything i can attach to my m.t. to keep his head from flopping?
i love this thing, except for this problem.

Back Carry
Is 6 months to early to use a back carry in my BH? She has excellent head control if it matters.

We are moving soonish and I need to pack an entire house so getting comfy with the back carry now (when my husband is here to help) will make life easier in a few months.

Mei Tai question
I lovelovelove my Moby D and Hubby's gotten attached to it too now. He says it helps him lose weight :-) I still have to help him with it though. But the baby is starting to get too big for it. The fabric starts to sag after he's in it for a while. I think we've got a few more pounds before we have to retire it completely.

I really want a Mei Tai, but I'm not ready to spend the 80 bucks for a Babyhawk or other commercial one. I was thinking of making one (or getting my mother to make one for me).

What are the advantages of something like a Babyhawk over a homemade Mei Tai? Disadvantages? Would I be able to use it for a year or longer, or would I need to trade it in for another carrier?

When to start babywearing
How early is it best to start babywearing? Did you wear your babies out of the hospital or is there a period of time that you need to wait before it is best to start wearing the little ones?

BTW I plan on using a babyhawk carrier.

My husband's Babyhawk arrived today
We sold our stroller last month. With the proceeds of the sale, I got a Didymos Iris and he got a custom Babyhawk.

Shrinkage
I washed my BH (in cold) the other day and let it air dry but now it seems smaller. Do they shrink?

Few MT questions
I've been wearing DD since she was 5 days old. Our favorite carrier is our Babyhawk MT. She's 10w old and pretty small -- she just hit 9lbs. I mostly wear her legs in, froggied beneath her but her head is really way above the carrier now. Sometimes I'll wear her legs out in our Pikkolo since it's pretty easy to cinch smaller. How do I know she's ready for legs out most of the time? What's the average age for forward facing? Her neck is pretty strong but still a bit floppy.

Also, can anyone recommend an MT or an SSC that's good for the summertime. I wear DD constantly and we're moving to an area of the Bay Area that's HOT in the summertime. I already feel hot and sticky after wearing DD for an hour or so on mildly warm days.

Mei tai help
I just got my new Babyhawk Mei Tai in the mail and I LOVE IT!! I have a Hotsling too, but DD doesn't like it for some reason. I'm hoping I can use it more when I can wear her on my hip. Anyway, I need some advice on the Mei Tai. I've put DD in it in a front carry, but it seems like her legs aren't long enough to be out and she doesn't like to do froggy anymore. She'll be 4 months on June 11th. I haven't weighed her lately but I'm pretty sure she weighs about 12 pounds. I'm so disappointed because I thought I would be able to strap her on and be on my merry way, but all she does is cry when I put her in it. Will she get used to it as she gets bigger? I guess I'm looking for reassurance. Please tell me she'll love being worn eventually!

I've been in the market for a mei tai for the last couple of weeks, window-shopping online, hearing about the pros & cons, etc.

There seems to be a pretty big price gap between mei tais made by WAHM and the ever-popular Babyhawk.
My question is: what's the difference between a Babyhawk & a WAHM MT?
Is the Babyhawk more of a brand name thing or is the quality matched by the price? (I don't mind paying for it if it's worth it)

And what are some of the key safety features one should look out for when purchasing a WAHM MT?

Thx :)

babyhawk Q
Hello there. My name is Jasmine.
I'm new here and have yet to post bc I my baby isn't out yet, so I haven't had any questions, but now I do. I am due in 5 wks and thinking about purchasing a Babyhawk. I can't stop drooling over the website. My question is totally an aesthetic one. I am thinking of getting a reversible one and I was wondering if any of you did and if you thought it was worth the extra cash. And also, did you get two totally different fabrics so you could match your outfit/mood, or did you get two fabrics that compliment each other?
Kinda silly questions, but I hope you all will help me out ;D

TIA

I have been using my Cinchworm so much that I was neglecting my Babyhawk. I'm wearing it today while the CW is in the wash. I finally put my 3 month old in a rucksack style on my back(which is how I always carry my 4 year old) but I am wondering about the Tibetan style carry. There weren't any pics on the BH website. Anyone got any action shots?

Baby Hawk vs. Ergo?
Hi.  I'm new here.  Sorry is this has already been asked before but I was hoping for some input from some of you on the Baby Hawk vs. the Ergo.  We have a Mei Tai for our daughter but I'm looking for something a little bit sturdier.  She is 13 months and approx 23 lbs.  Also, my husband refuses to wear her in the MT because it looks so feminine.  I want him to wear her too so let me know what you think!
TIA!

Mei Tai help
I got my 14 month old on my back earlier today in my Babyhawk for the first time. It wasn't easy -- he hadn't been worn in several months because I was pregnant with my daughter and wearing him hurt, and prior to this, he'd only been worn in my Moby, and on my front. My main issue (besides squirmy toddler) was crossing the straps in the back. Is there a trick to it? Or are my arms just exceptionally short, and that's my issue? Also, how the heck do I get him down without dropping him? We managed, but in the end he was sitting on the floor laughing at me because I almost dropped him. And anything that scares mommy = the funniest thing ever.

BH Question
I received my first Babyhawk today and gave it a go at the grocery store. Putting it on in the parking lot was my first wearing. All in all I LOVE it, possibly more than my Moby, there is less room for error and I like how she seems more snug. I also love how easy it is to take her out of it compared to the moby where I would wake her when I tried to take her out.

Anyways, a question. I seem to have some trouble getting it tied tight enough around the waist. Her feet started to stick out of the bottom (luckily we were headed to the car so I was not worried) which does not seem right.

Advice?

Also does anyone nurse in their BH? Any pointers for me?

I'm Addicted
I cannot even begin to explain how babywearing has changed my life. Besides making life in general easier, I feel so much closer to my baby. She loves being worn and close to me and it makes me so happy to look down and seeing her sleeping peacefully or looking up at me.

When I have her in our Moby at the grocery store, I get so many questions which makes me happy but only 1 person has expressed an interest in purchasing a Moby (or other babywearing item), I happened to have the card of the store I got my Moby and was happy to pass it along to her.

On that note, yesterday I purchased my first Babyhawk in Calavares. It might be here tomorrow, Friday at the latest. I am so excited.

I am sensing a growing obsession here.

Another babyhawk question.

My daughter likes to sit in the legs out position now rather than the froggy position. But she doesnt like not being able to see. Could I roll the botton piece of fabric that I tie first a couple of times before I tie it so that she sits higher? Or is there another way to do this?

Thanks!

BabyHawk question
My son is 8 weeks old and he weighs 14lbs. I'm not sure how long he is, he wasn't measured at his appointment last week. But I'm guessing he's 24 inches, at least.

I'm wondering at what point do I position him with his legs out? Right now he kind of sits on them. Is that right? He seems comfortable like that. His head seems to come over the headrest, though. I wore him at the mall the other day and he fell right asleep. And I had 3 people ask me what it was/where I got it. So cool!

TIA!

So, i let my sister use my babyhawk and now she won't give it back. I ordered a Beco Obi to try out cuz it was on sale and also ended up ordering an AngelPack MT that was on sale. I feel like a crazy person!! it's not like i have the money for these things ;p
I have a wrap, but, i can't get the hang of it and baby girl starts to cry.

Has anyone tried the Obi yet?

New to babywearing
Hi. My name is Sarah, and I am addicted to babywearing. :)

So far I have 2 hotslings, 1 moby wrap, and 1 babyhawk mei tai. My daughter is only 6 weeks old. LOL How do you resist the urge to keep buying more and more?

I just got my babyhawk today and it is amazing. I think I've got it on right. :)
