I don't know if this been brought up before, but I was reading the earlier books when Mal and Jessi joined and Stacey moved back to NY. Mal and Jessi couldn't go because they were "too young"
But uh.........aren't they the same age in later books? Makes no sense!!

My friend owns more American Girl dolls than you can ever imagine. One of them is a girl from 1974 San Francisco, named Julie. When Julie was first introduced, there was a post on this community by someone that said that Julie was practically Dawn's clone. I didn't really think about what she'd said until yesterday, when I was dressing my friend's Julie doll. The outfit I'd chosen for her was so much like Larisa's outfit at the beginning of the movie.

So, I'm reading Stacey's Choice and my two year old son points at Dawn on the cover and says "Mummy!" I thought it was quite funny, I never thought I looked like Dawn. My hair is nearly waist length, but it isn't white blond. But neither is Dawn's on this cover. Here it is thanks to Dibbly-fresh. http://www.dibbly-fresh.com/gallery/disp layimage.php

Maybe this is a stupid question and I totally missed something... When Dawn decides to give the money from the Green Fair to the recycling project... what exactly is it going to? I thought she said it didn't cost anything but time, and the supplies they could get free... so what do they actually need money for? Sorry if I'm just being totally dumb.

hello, everyone! i know we've done posts before about favorite books, but i can't remember how long ago they were and i'm sure we have a lot of new people here who'd love to participate. plus, i'd love to see explanations about why some of the books are people's favorites. sometimes that helps people (at least me) to see books in a different light.
my personal favorites are:
#4 mary anne saves the day
i can't even remember how many times i've read this book. my copy is broken in half, if that's any indication. i love the fight. i love that the girls act so 13 in this book (at least, 13 from the 80s.) i love the new storyline of mary anne's dad and dawn's mom. everything about this book is wonderful.
#83 stacey vs. the bsc
i didn't read this one until i was already in my early 20s and a bit disenchanted with how fake BSC world was. this was kind of a reality check for all of them, i'd think. stacey growing apart from the BSC crowd was so natural. this book was really believable and i love the big fight at the end.
super special #4: baby-sitters island adventure
this is another book that has pages falling out because of over-reading. when i was a kid, it didn't at all seem unlikely that two thirteen year olds, a ten year old, a nine year old, an eight year old and a four year old would not only be able to sail out to an island on their own, but that they'd get stranded on a different island, run out of food and water, and still be able to survive for days. it also didn't seem unlikely that two parents would leave their eleven year old in charge of a baby over the weekend. it was camp at its finest. such an illogical tale, yet it was just so much fun to read about how they survived, living in their cave, their giant shell message, etc.
there are so many more that i love so much (especially the very early books) but these are probably my top three.
what are yours and why?

Would anyone be interested in buying a UK copy of #32, "Mary Anne and Too Many Boys"? It is in excellent, like new condition. Thanks! :)
Excuse the crude photoshop work (it's not my area of expertise), but I couldn't resist...

I don't know if this has been discussed, but it crossed my mind recently.
After the BSC "graduated" from 8th grade, how many of them do you think remained close friends in high school?
Who talked but didn't necessarily hang out?
Who might have drifted apart?
And....
Once they graduated high school (about another 20 years later, lol), who do you think would remain in contact?
Who would remain long lost until possible a high school reunion?
My thoughts are:
In high school, I really don't think the girls would have hung out together. I think Stacey would have drifted apart eventually from the whole group. I think Kristy would be making desparate attempts to remain in contact with some of them (and possibly stalking Mary Anne or something in order to remain friends). I can't really picture Mallory and Jessi remaining close friends.
After high school, I can sort of picture some of them (like Kristy and Mary Anne, maybe Claudia) keeping in contact via letters or something. Maybe get together for the occasional reunion. I picture Dawn heading back to California for college, and Mary Anne leaving for NYC.
Any thoughts?

I found four books I was missing for my collection yesterday, which was exciting in itself, but then on the drive home I was thinking of the new books and how I was going to post to Twitter when I got home about it (and actually, I forgot, LOL) and it dawned on me--
BSC Twitter RPG! How much fun would THAT be? And really, really easy.
Thoughts?

From #86: Claudia Kishi, Live From WSTO!:
Ashley Wyeth and Claudia discuss their friendship-themed radio show.
"Well, we'll ask the girls to sing more than one song. There are plenty more songs based on friendships, right?"
"'Ben,'" Ashley replied.
"Ben who?" I asked.
"The song 'Ben.' About the boy and the rat."
"Yuck."
"It's beautiful. It goes like this: 'Bennnnn...'"
This part always cracked me up; I'm not sure why.
Do they mention the Captain Eo show in Super Special #1 or #5?
R.I.P.

Hi!
It's time for me to unload some of my BSC books, and I have a whoooole bunch (including several later series books). I'm selling them only by cost of shipping; the books themselves are free.
I've coloured the new-cover books gray, so they'll be easy to distinguish. There's also a letter following each title, which describes its general condition. Basically, this is how it goes:
(E) = Excellent
These are books that have no flaws, or one or two very small, unnoticeable ones.
(G) = Good
Really nice copies, but not flawless. These have maybe a bent corner, or the spine looks a little worn, or something of that nature.
(O) = Okay
Used copies that have obviously been read, and have some wear. Either there are quite a few cracks/bends/folds, etc., or there is one big flaw that is difficult to overlook, such as staining or a torn-off sticker spot.
(P) = Poor
Reading copies only -- you probably don't want these for collection-building.
If you have any more questions, please let me know. :)
( Lots of books under the cut... )
I'm leaving for Mexico tonight, but I'll be back Monday, so please don't take any lack of response for ignoring!

I loved this book but I'd like to see it go to a better home :)
It is the Hardcover Chain Letter book with ALL letters intact, comes with friendship bracelet, Jessi's bookmark and the photos of Mary Anne and Dawn. Not sure if there were any more goodies in the envelopes.

Hey everyone. I decided to sell my entire BCS collection which includes over 100 books. I have the regular books, Super Specials, Mysteries, a Super Mystery, the Complete Guide, Little Sister, and Little Sister Super Special up for sale. Prices range from free to $1.50. I judged each book on it's condition. They are readable but some have messed up covers so that brought down their value. There also are a few I am looking to read still so if you have them, I would be happy to trade.

Ever get any amusing answers in the scrapbook page fill-ins? One of my favorite things about finding new books is seeing what people have written there. On the off chance that some of you are equally entertained by that, I thought I'd show the best ones I've gotten:

Hi. It's been a while since I've posted on here, so I don't know if this is allowed or it's been done before. If it isn't, just delete it or let me know and I'll delete it.
Anyway, I was reading the first BSC book I've read in a while yesterday, Kristy and the Worst Kid Ever. And I don't know why, but halfway through it I just started to think about Twilight and which members of the club would be into it. So I decided to post it on here and see what everyone else thought, just for fun.
So which members of the club do you think would be into Twilight?
I think that Kristy and Mallory would hate it. Dawn would pretend she doesn't like them, but secretly read them all and Claudia, Stacey, Mary Anne and Jessi would be Twihards in a big way. Claudia's parents wouldn't approve of course, lol.
