| B5 Love Month Poll needs you! |
[May. 13th, 2009|11:11 am] |
Just a reminder that the poll about this year's Love Month needs more votes. Only 20 people have voted so far, and I hope this doesn't mean that the rest 150 people in the community would rather not have another round ;)
There is a bit of a tie at the moment about when the next round should be, so go and vote if you haven't done so already. |

So, it's spring again and time to see if people still want to do this.
This year I was also thinking of shaking things up and doing things a bit differently, maybe. I just ran xf_is_love and for the second round the theme was 'episodic', meaning that every participant claimed a different episode and then based their contribution on that episode. That went really well, I think, and so I was wondering if there was any interest in doing the same thing here. So hop over to xf_is_love to see what people did there and tell me what you think.
Poll #1392586
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: AllWould you be interesting in the fourth B5 Love Month? When should we do this thing then? Should we have a theme this year?

| My fanart - Better late than never? |

I *finally* finished my sketch for my B5 Love assignment - I hope you like it. I am personally thrilled to death because I thought I couldn't capture the images in my head on to paper any more (although this was from a photo, but same concept). Although not an exact replica of the photo, I feel it's close enough and still looks like John and Delenn.
Here's a small version; click on it to go to the big version:

| Thank you and a free-for-all |
[Oct. 11th, 2008|05:26 pm] |
B5 love month is yet again over, and I would like to thank everyone who participated, both the contributors and the watchers. We had fun time again, and a moth full of fic, fanart, songs and icons.
To end the month, I've decided to to the same thing as last year, and declare this weekend as a free-for-all: if you didn't finish yoru contribution in time, or if you didn't sign up at all, but would like to contribute anyway, you can post during today and tomorrow. Icons, fanfic, meta, whatever.
(if you don't have postinga ccess to the community (read: if you did not sign up this year), leave a comment here and I'l grant you access) |

Today in babylon5_love month, for your reading pleasure, we present a collaborative tidbit from abracax and vjs2259 .
Eventually, every J/D writer must tackle the same burning issues, trying to fill in the obvious and painful gaps in our knowledge of this tangled relationship. Between the two of us we've covered most of them, but there was one that had eluded us. Now, together, we tackle the biggest mystery of all...
Set in Season Four, during the events of the pivotal episode Racing Mars, we give you:

I am supposed to submit fanart, and I have a drawing/sketch in process BUT, while you wait, I thought I'd upload a silly photo manipulation I did in honor of Partners in Crime B5/Noir crossover story, Double Take as well as the prior story, The Deep Sleep. Without further adieu, I bring you John and Della:

I'll be back later today to post my sketch, which is a favorite John and Delenn scene from (I think) "Grey 17 is Missing." |

| Babylon 5 love |
[Oct. 3rd, 2008|01:20 pm] |
Hello! I haven't posted here before, but there seemed a few empty days this time and so I offered to take one. I was totally going to picspam you with Londo and G'Kar and their amazing romance, but then I had a cold instead. So this is basically a rambling of squee, and not anything more proper than that.
( Things I love about Babylon 5. With Spoilers for pretty much all of it I would think. )
I also love ALL THE THINGS I have forgotten to mention. But I'll stop now. |

| Song: Passing Through |
[Sep. 29th, 2008|08:53 am] |
Hi. I've come to you this year with another song inspired by Babylon 5. This one came out a little differently than the last two. Instead of writing about a character as I did in the past, this time my inspiration came from one of my favorite B5 episodes (which is also in my opinion one of the most underrated), "Passing Through Gethsemane." I used the ideas and images of this episode to explore more personal territory than I have in the last two songs. I know it's not what you were expecting to hear; it's not what I expected to write, either. But I hope you like it anyway.
Oh, and one shameless plug before we move on to the actual content: If you like this song or the ones I've done in the past, please check out my website, Beloved Porcupine Music to hear more. Since the last time I posted, I have improved tremendously as a musician, got a real band together, and even released my first CD, All Of My Heroes Are Villains, which is available for purchase from a variety of sources including my website, CDBaby, and iTunes.
And now, with no further ado, the song. Enjoy!

| From the Catalog of the Centauri Ambassadorial Museum, Geneva, Switzerland, est. 2155. |
[Sep. 27th, 2008|06:05 pm] |
Item 4436, Untitled and Uncredited Needlework Sampler, approx. 400-450 years old. Needlecraft has been a much-neglected form of Centauri folk-art, possibly because it fell out of fashion after the first few centuries of the Republic and modern examples are scarce to nonexistent. Too, needlework seems to have been exclusively the domain of females, and as such held little status among Centauri art pieces. Nevertheless, many examples do exist from personal collections, such as this, donated to this museum by the House of Cotto. This particular example is interesting for its portrayal of the legendary meeting of the first Centauri Emperor with the so-called "Technomage." While the story frequently describes three Technomages, this sampler depicts only one, possibly for reasons of aesthetic design. The meaning of the glyph is unclear. The limited use of thread-of-gold in the border informs us that the stitcher was of a second- or third-tier House; examples from more prominent families would include much heavier use of gold and possibly other precious metals as well.

| A potholder. |
[Sep. 25th, 2008|09:39 pm] |
Hi. :) Today would be my posting day, but alas, this post is going to be more of a placeholder than a proper post, because I'm made of fail. I have a B5-themed potholder next to me. In a few days, when I manage to take an actual picture of it and create a chart for others to use, I'll add them here. Right now I don't have access to a camera or a good picture editor to do the chart. Instead, you'll get a few random facts in written form.
A crocheted potholder with a simple B5-style '5' on it. Hook: 3,5mm / US 4 / UK 9 Yarn: Two different colours of scrap yarn. Suggested knitting tension for this yarn is 18 stitches/26 rows = 10cm/4", but as this is crocheted it doesn't pay that big a role. Any yarn and an appropriate hook works. Size: Mine ended up 20cm x 20cm (8" x 8") but, depending on your preferences, you can make them bigger by adding stitches or widening the border.
ETA: Pics finally added!

| Three Quarter Time, Part III |
[Sep. 23rd, 2008|07:04 am] |
Part III and the end.
Three Quarter Time Part I: Closed Position (J/D, mid-Season 3, rated G) Part II: Incentive Program (J/D, Season 4, Rising Star, rated PG) Part III: The Last Dance (J/D, post Season 5, rated G) “All stars stand close in summer air And tremble, and look mild as amber; When wicks are lighted in the chamber You might say stars were settling there.” Leonie Adams Standing in the dark garden outside the brightly lit room was an elderly woman. She was clad in a simple white robe, with a hood covering her now grey and thinning hair. Music spilled out into the warm night, and she watched as the couples moved in precise steps and turns. Minbari did not dance, but the Alliance had many members who did, and occasionally a formal reception ended with practice of the art. Stars filled the night sky, performing their own celestial dance, turning around some central point of the galaxy. Many beings had tried to locate that place, but none had succeeded so far. The stars looked so close this time of year, like candleflames shining against the dark fabric of space. You are the brightest star in my sky, he had told her when he had left her. The stars may seem close enough to touch, but they remain out of reach, isolate and burning, consuming themselves until they fail and fade. Earlier in her life, she had danced. Even after he had gone, she would go to the parties, the diplomatic functions, and participate in the ritual. Never would she accept a partner for the last dance of the evening. Unfailingly polite, she declined so graciously that no one was ever offended. They were only curious when they saw her smile, full of secrets and hidden pain. She knew the map of her sky, and the location of her heart. Keeping faith, she would watch and wait; and she would always, always save the last dance. |

| Three Quarter Time, Part II |
[Sep. 22nd, 2008|06:34 pm] |
Part II, for your reading pleasure. (The icon is a bit of a tease, btw, it's only PG.)
Three Quarter Time Part I: Closed Position (J/D, mid-Season 3, rated G) Part II: Incentive Program (J/D, Season 4, Rising Star, rated PG) "I’ll always remember the song they were playing The first time we danced and I knew; As we swayed to the music and held to each other I fell in love with you. Could I have this dance for the rest of my life? Would you be my partner every night? When we're together it feels so right; Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?" Anne Murray Part III: The Last Dance (J/D, post Season 5, rated G) |

| Three Quarter Time, Part I |
[Sep. 21st, 2008|08:48 am] |
Hello again! This is a three part story, written for the prompt 'waltz'. You can read the posts separately, or wait until Tuesday and read them all together, as you wish. They are short pieces, 250-1000 words. I consider them snapshots in time, covering J/D from sweet to sexy to sad.
Three Quarter Time Part I: Closed Position (J/D, mid-Season 3, rated G) “Let your eyes half close, and your heart beat over my heart.” William Butler Yeats Part II: Incentive Program (J/D, Season 4, Rising Star, rated PG) Part III: The Last Dance (J/D, post Season 5, rated G) |
