My sister in law wants to name her son Shadow, after her cat who died recently.
Before she knew it was a boy she wanted to name it Pink. She actually still contemplated that name after finding out it was a boy, but her husband talked her out of it. He's working on Shadow now.

On PBS Kids Sprout, people send in their kids' info and cards and stuff for birthday shoutouts. Today there was a birthday card for a little girl, Torre, said like Tori. Love, Mom, dad, and sister Peyton.
*sigh* I am glad my husband isn't a complete sports jackass. He loves him some pigskin, but he wouldn't insist we name our daughter Favre or something.

So every few months, my church publishes the names of the babies that were baptised.
Here's the exhaustive list that appeared, minus last names. The twins are in red, and my community has a lot of Irish and Italian families which explains why there is a huge number of those kind of names. Surprisingly, not as many Jacobs and Emilys as one would think, although the amount of Avas is sickening.
For the record, this is a Roman Catholic church on the north shore of Long Island in New York State.

A few posts back I commented about the "Happy birthday Aspin".
It's biting me in the arse.
Aspin is in my step-daughters 2nd grade class. I was laughing my ass off when I saw her desk. I'm going to hell. But on the plus there SO many effed up names at her school I should have a real post here in the next few days.
Man it's bad. Small town + No aspirations = bad bad baby names.

So, my fiance and I were looking in the Annoucements this weekend- yanno, the section of the paper that has all the weddings, engagements, babys, anniversaries? I like to browse it for kicks, and sometimes for giggles...
Someone had a birth annoucement, and I had to look twice...but they named their little boy (ready for it?)
TAYDEN.
WTF?! Are people just sitting around going, "hmm, let's add a letter to the name Aiden and see what we come up with?" It's not even a NAME, it's...JUST...wow.
