I was on AM!'s site today and saw that they're playing a show next month in Orlando (where I live) in a fucking arena.
I know I'm a hypocrite or and idiot or whatever, I never expected an arena show. Years ago, when I first started listening to them, it would be a small crowd at a little bar.
Things have changed, I guess.

| H.R. 1955 |
[01 Nov 2007|12:48am] |
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed HR 1955 titled the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. This bill is one of the most blatant attacks against the Constitution yet and actually defines thought crimes as homegrown terrorism. The Bill passed 404-6.
This Bill criminalizes any act of, or promotion of, anything the Government interprets to be "radical" or "extremist." This may include Animal Rights, Environmentalism, Socialism, Labor Organizing, anything that may upset the status quo, hell anything that may upset a politician. And that's the scary thing here; it's entirely up to State interpretation.
Don't let this Bill pass the senate! Call your Congressperson, tell them you are NOT HAPPY with their vote. Call your Senators, tell them that if they wish to keep their jobs, they had better NOT SUPPORT this bill. Use every means available to you. Phone Calls, Letter Writings, Public Demonstration, Firebombings. Don't Let this Bill Pass. Talk to your friends, CoWorkers, talk to your Parents, your Professors, your Teachers. Talk to EVERYONE.
Educate. Organize. Mobilize. Make It Happen.

| 8/18 Jacksonville at Freebird Live |
[19 Aug 2007|02:34pm] |
Ok first of all, I have to get this out FUCK FREEBIRD LIVE, fuck will call, etc.
I get to the venue around 9 and missed the first band, The Gaslight Anthem. They're supposed to be good I heard. I get inside as Two Gallants is playing and to be honest I don't remember much. I've never been so hammered at an Against Me! show before. The same goes for my friend who had trouble getting in for being drunk and underage. They basically told her she couldn't go inside and being herself she raised hell in the mean streets of Jacksonville beach with some random people who didn't have tickets. Apparently they were singing and being obnoxious...etc. SOMEHOW she manages to get inside around the side of the venue and winds up on stage. I'm in the crowd dancing with strangers because I lost everyone I was with, I look up onto the stage and she's getting harassed by security. After the set was over I walk outside and she's in handcuffs. Thankfully I had a friend there who's good with talking to cops and got her out of the shitty situation she put herself in. Ha, oh wow.
Anyway from what I remember (which is bits and peices)...I recall singing my ass off to:
- Walking Is Still Honest - We Laugh At Danger - Disco Before The Breakdown - Cliche Guevara - Don't Lose Touch - Rice And Bread? - This Shit Rules - What We Worked For
other than that I don't really remember; I don't know any of the new songs but I think they played at least two from New Wave
To the left is Good With Words and to the right is Punk in Drublic girl. Ha, just thought I'd share.

Is anyone going to the Jacksonville show on August 18th?
I am trying to find my brother a ride from Daytona/Port Orange and can't find anyone I know who's going. He's never seen Against Me! and already has his ticket... but some things came up and he might not have a ride. He's a nice guy and he'd give gas money.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

| 5/25/07 House Of Blues - Orlando FL |
[26 May 2007|12:06pm] |
Brief update:
Not to offend anyone(?) but seriously, Mastodon? What the shit is that? These Arms Are Snakes came on first and played a nice set. They reminded me of Rage Against The Machine. Good stuff. Next in line was Cursive! It was really exciting to see them, especially with another great band (AM). They played a lot of good songs off of The Ugly Organ (great album).
Against Me! wasn't supposed to be headlining this tour to my knowledge. I thought they would be playing before the obnoxious hour long set of metal. But no, they switched. Which, in the end I guess that was a good thing because they played longer. Against Me! basically played a similar set as they have done the past..eh..3 times I have seen them. Three new songs included that White People for Peace song, Americans Abroad, and the other one...Ocean?....? This is out of order but...
They opened with Pints, Cliche Guevara, new song?, Energizer , Americans Abroad, Touch, Ocean???, Rice and Bread, Problems, Axl Rose, Sink FL Sink, This Shit Rules, Anarcho Punks, Turn Those Clapping Hands Into Angry Balled Fists, Unprotected Sex with Multiple Partners, Walking Is Still Honest * encore: What We Worked For & We Laugh At Danger (featuring an epic stage dive by Warren Oakes)

Seeing Against Me! in Gainesville has to be one of the best places to see them live. Fake Problems opened and Tom came out and sang with them. By the way, Fake Problems is cute as hell. The Draft came on next..I'm pretty positive the guitarist was wasted as he nearly fell off the stage on top of me a few times. Against Me! came on around 12am and tore down the house. They played a similar set as the last time I saw them in St Augustine just a few months ago. They opened with Pints of Guiness and enchored with 1) Disco Before the Breakdown, 2) We Laugh at Danger and 3) Walking is Still Honest. I love the fact that these guys always put on a good show. It's obvious they love what they do, it shows. The ticket prices are getting a little sketchy, (next FL show is about $25) but I'm still going to go see them. I have to. I just love them that much. Alright sorry for the boring post. -Kehoe

Just thought I'd share that this song never ever ever gets old. I could listen to it 7684212 times in a row and I'd still be ready to listen to it 872424 more. :]
"'Cuz baby, I'm an anarchist and you're a spineless liberal, We marched together for the 8 hour days and held hands in the streets of Seattle. But when it came time to throw bricks through that Starbucks window you left me all alone."
I know no one is going to read this post because no one posts in here. I was just listening to it and felt the need to share. :]
