Lost, Stolen or Strayed: my mind
I dided a filk again! But it's not a filk, it's a poem-filk. What do you call that? A parody, I suppose. I'm afraid this was the first thing that popped into my head at the theme, and I couldn't get it out again...

Disobedience

This was fairly close to the original; mainly the names and places have been changed. In other words, the original was just as silly.
James James Morrison Morrison Wetherby George DuPree, took great care of his Mother, though he was only three... though she tried to "go down to the end of the town" instead.

I couldn't get it out of my head (lost or stolen or strayed), so I had to exorsize it with a parody...

Yes, well, Blake did get lost, stolen or strayed, and mislaid, and wandering vaguely quite of his own accord...

For a moment there when I got the LJ notification (it seems to be dropping every fifth one though) I wondered if you were about to refute my recent article about Mary-Sue, but now I realize that you were merely demonstrating your Milne-liking -- another closet Milnist I see!

Yay! Cheers! Applause!

No, I hadn't seen the essay before--thanks! Glad to have the chance to read it. The Rule of Three/Rule of One analysis was especially helpful.

Hadn't seen it either. Found it intelligent and well argued. Also liked the Rule of Three/One, which I think will help improve my writing. Have added your article to my memories. Thanks for posting the link.

Thank you.
Thrilled that you think it will help improve your writing. The Rule of Three I really learned from a friend and zined who did a lot to improve my writing (but quoting from Lewis Carroll is more fun). The Rule of One is all my own, though you could argue that it's a corrollory to the Rule of Three.

Another Mary-Sue analysis I found thoughtful and balanced was this one on Tavia's site.
