Disturbance at Downtown Crossing Monday afternoon?
I'm a high school teacher in the BPS, and I've heard stories from students about a big fight at downtown crossing yesterday after school. The only media mention I've been able to find is this terse one, and I'm wondering if TV and newspapers are making a point of not covering youth violence because they're afraid they'll trigger an escalation.

Was anybody here at downtown crossing in early afternoon on Monday and actually witnessed what happened?

Hey, that explains why there were cops all over the place this afternoon. And I wasn't going to ask because it was such a small question...

This (Tuesday) afternoon? Probably something different, unless the kids decided to "finish" whatever started on Monday ... and I sure hope they didn't.

This afternoon, as in now that there have been reports of something in the media, a lot of police have to go and hang around and show the public that NO REALLY, WE'RE ON THE BALL HERE GUYS even though the troublemakers will probably have already moved on elsewhere.

I saw TONS of cops Mon afternoon and was curious as to what was going on too.

idk arent there always fights at downtown. bc thats where all the fights from my school are.

I heard about it on the radio but that's all... they just said a ton of students showed up and brawls broke out.

the article makes it sound like only 4 or 5 people were involved, btw. Not 200.

Actually, the article you link to describes a different incident, which apparently happened the previous Friday afternoon and involved a half-dozen people in their 20's. The one I'm asking about was on Monday afternoon.

All I know is that my Orange Line train was held up for 20 or so minutes due to "a police action at Downtown Crossing." I was curious too and couldn't find much info on it.

The Metro had an article today about how they're putting in more cops to keep the teenagers from fighting.

Really, just give the cops the ability to ticket them for community service. Associating starting a fight with having to wear an orange vest and pick up litter all Saturday on the Common will cool hot tempers rather quickly.
