My Dearest MBTA....
...I am in serious HATE with you today. As much as a I rely on you and take you for granted...today you really proved to me what a dick you can be.

Leaving my early shift at work this morning I was eager to get home and get some much needed sleep before my next job, so I ran to catch the 39 in JP, where the driver decided not only to drive right past me, but then was stuck at a red light 2ft away from the stop, so I approached and knocked on the door. The driver at first ignored me, then gave me a "no...I'm not going to let you in, get back on the sidewalk" even though he had just DROVE PAST ME at the damn bus stop!

So I waited and waited and waited, the next 39 was about 15 mins late.... got on, got to Brookline village...where the Outbound conductor decided to close all the side-doors in my face as I tried to board the train, so I ran to the front door which he also closed in my face, another shake and "no I'm not gonna let you in...peace out suckaaaaah"

Finally get on a D train to go home...but oh wait its hauling a "construction car" whatever the hell that means... crawled like a snail and JOLTED to a stop every 2mins...not an exaggeration, was anyone else on this train today??

It took me nearly 2hrs to get home today...it usually takes thirty mins.

My train did not catch on fire, or crash, nobody died so I guess I do not have a legit reason to complain,
but DAMN I'd really like to kick each of these drivers in the balls...

just sayin.

Did you mean to post this in your personal journal and selected [info]b0st0n by mistake?

If I knew you, I'd offer you a cheer up drink.

*shrug* Call up and complain. I'm pretty sure that bus drivers don't get paid to slam doors in people's faces; that's ridiculous.

If you stand IN FRONT of the bus they will have no choice but to let you on. Especially if you have a whole group of people and you all stand in front of it. This works.

By yourself or with other people? I would do it with other people, but I fear the bus driver would almost run me over by myself. I know they aren't supposed to kill people, but they might try to jolt you so you run back to the curb and then they leave.

Leave the drivers alone. They're all high school educated, unfireable, fully-benefited, folks just waiting for an imaginary illness or twenty years to go by before receiving a full pension.

You can't expect good service under these conditions.

Ha. I was riding one of the red line shuttles, where the driver was boasting about how he was making time and a half (40 bucks an hour x 16 hours of OT), how they got a huge raise that also applied retrospectively...no wonder why there's a lottery to try and get a MBTA job.

I lived in Denver for a couple of years, and almost inevitably, when someone learned I had lived here - and was planning on moving back - they'd say how wonderful Boston and its wonderful public transportation were and how nice it must be to be moving back! I assumed that they had ridden the subway once, and not during rush hour. Because what you have described there sounds not so much different from MBTA business as usual.

I miss Denver's buses.

Nice. But at least your bus existed. The other night it took me two and a half hours to go from Back Bay to Somerville/Highland Ave. Because my bus was lost in the netherworld, and no MBTA employee would own up to losing it.

I shit you not.
