Babcock street is still pretty backed up as well as comm ave. There are lots of police and a few ambulances, but there didn't seem to be serious injuries as the globe's reporting.

I hope the person who was going 75mph and who caused the mess is not.

He could've had a seizure or another medical problem.

Right. But why make assumptions before you know what happened?

You can't care about anyone or be nice on this community is seems... or you get snarked upon with a mighty hammer.

Anyhow... seems none of the injuries were serious AND someone else got hit by a medical supplies truck a block away from the accident. Also not serious.

Wait, I thought the medical truck was the one that caused the accident(s) in the first place... Of course, I'm at work and not following the reports too closely, maybe I'm wrong there.

Because it's human nature?

People are going to assume one way or the other until facts come out. As it stands, seizure or medical issue or not, the guy would likely only get up to 75 if he was being irresponsible. It really doesn't honestly happen all that often to begin with (A lot of folks who are prone to seizures are denied a license outright to avoid stuff like that) and even in the rare occasion it does, it's even more rare that their foot slams down on the gas pedal rather than slipping off the pedal or careening off the road entirely.

Causality and the basic odds lead me to assume that it was most likely just one hell of an irresponsible driver who lost control of his car.

Seizures can come out of the blue, not to mention that it could have also been something like a heart attack. But it's pointless to assume on either side. We can just wait for the information. I just don't think it's right to crucify the driver before the facts come out, but that's just me.

To get a license when you have epilepsy you need to go a certain amount of time without a seizure. It gets strictly monitored by the state and you need to get a test that shows your brain waves which can then show how long ago you had a seizure. I had a friend who would go without a seizure for a super long time and then right before her test she would have one.

There are people who have seizures randomly and often have not had them before. My sister who is 16 started fainting last year. She will be walking completely fine and then all of a sudden she is on the ground. She has seen so many doctors and they have finally diagnosed her. I said how will she drive (she is now 16) safely and the Dr. said as long as she is sitting it will never occur...only while walking. I was shocked. So yea there are many people out there who have conditions that can pop up at anytime.

Someone with diabetes could go into a sugar shock at any moment even if they took their proper meds.

Precisely.
Some folks begin to have pseudo-seizures which are caused by psychological trauma, etc. whence never having had one before.
Etc etc etc.
