The Marathon
So what is your favourite aspect of the Boston Marathon?

...mine is the fact that there are people with hoses spraying water on runners because they shit themselves as they run!! I learned about the fecal leg drip a few years back when a couple of my then-coworkers ran.

Mine is the fact that I live in GODDAMNED HOPKINTON and they close all the roads at 7:30AM and the place is a nightmare!

Well you can't stop running (if your an elite runner and even if your not, it's one of those if you stop you'll never be able to start running again things) and if you've got the shits what are you going to do for 2 hours?

from what i've been told from friends in the know, after a certain point while running you start to lose control of some of your body functions.

I remember seeing some woman running (i think in a triathalon) where she had both feces and monthly flow running down her legs. It was b-move gorefest ugly.

A) my favorite part is that i take the T to and from work, so the traffic and blocked streets don't affect me in the slightest. my other favorite part is that men tend to wear rather short shorts, and there's a certain amount of... um... bouncing. which is a plus.

B) ew? just... ew.

Mine is probably that my parents nearly had simultaneous heart attacks when they learned I was due on Patriot's Day 1985 and the only hospital their insurance would cover for delivery was Beth Isreal (and they were driving in from Everett).

I wasn't born then but this year my birthday actually is on Patriot's Day.

I'm surprised so many people are surprised about the fecal leg drip. It's merely an extension of high school cross country runners who piss themselves. If you go to most races, at least a couple of the top ten girls in a 3 mile race will have a nice big wet spot. When you're going 26 miles, it just gets more extreme.

I'm sorry, but there is no reason to piss yourself in a three mile run. That's just some kind of sick fetish.

I have a couple.

First, in many areas along the route, you can stand outside with a drink in a cup and the cops generally will leave you alone. It's like Boston's Mardi Gras.

Second, it's hysterical to head down onto Boylston and see all the vendors selling the most god-awful unhealthy food and have people standing there shoving cotton candy and fried dough into their stupid faces while 20' away, these starving bastards who just put themselves through hell and have a body fat percentage of -865,000% are staggering past them.
