Filming movies in Allston?
Does anyone know of any movies being filmed in Boston?

I was driving down Harvard  Ave today at about 7:15AM and saw a rather professional looking movie set with lights and cameras and a couple of cops patrolling the scene. It was near Wonder Bar. Anyone know what this could be for? And why they would shoot a movie scene in Allston?

Anything to help my curiosity would be much appreciated...

oh crap. i don't remember the name, but it has Cameron Diaz in it.

i've seen stuff all over this area for crew parking and such (such as the shaws parking lot in brighton mills), so i know they've been filming in this area for a little while, although i have yet to actually see them filming.

They filmed most of it in Chelsea I believe. I drove by the sets and they were pretty cool. I liked seeing all the old school foreign cars too.

Pink Panther 2 has finished filming, as has Bachelor No. 2.

now it's The Box by Richard Kelly.

next up: The Surrogates starring (possibly) Bruce Willis, directed by Jonathan Mostow (as per the Globe).

haha oh yeah and this is actually my job :P

Let's hope THE BOX is decent, because so far Richard Kelly's career arc is looking like an even faster version of M Night Shyamalan's. Already I'm surprised by how fast he went straight from a massive word-of-mouth success to an utterly horrendous bomb in the span of just two movies. It took ol' Night about three or four to do that.

What's with the recent flood of movies in town? It seems like the last 12 months have been nonstop filming.

They've recently made it easier for movie companies to film in Boston, and have added some great tax incentives ... I believe the studios can get up to 50% back of what they spend in the City?? But don't quote me on that. I heard it from someone who heard it from someone.

You know how it goes, first the gays, then the moonities, and then the industry....

or something about tax incentives for the studios...

tax breaks.

and the movie companies hate me. one of the responsibilities of my job is to fax any mentions of our movies to the studios, and the carol beggy, mark shanahan, gayle fee, and laura raposa love talking about where the stars are eating lunch in the globe and herald.

This article in today's Globe says the movie you saw filming in Allston was "The Lonely Maiden", with Christopher Walken. It's about art thieves.
