Does anyone else besides me work in the financial district and knows what's going on with the manhole cover that exploded?

I came out just after it had happened and they were starting to put up yellow tape. Now there are a million fire trucks and even more rumors circulating. The whole sitch began around 11:45-ish.


Edit: this happened just off of Summer St, I think on Arch St but I'm not certain. It's right outside of the Qdoba mexican place.

I guess I should've taken video with my cell phone of the amazing amounts of smoke shooting up from the manhole, huh?

There were some who said that the cover blew off. I only caught the smoke coming from it and figured there was some construction or something going on.

I was so annoyed! I just went out for lunch and was intending to go to this place I really like on Devonshire Street, but nope, there was caution tape up and no one allowed down the street! Had to spend a ton more at Rebecca's Cafe instead.

Yeah I'm right near Devonshire... were you trying to go to Viga? I love that place! I just went out to the frozen yogurt place next door about 30 min ago. For all I know that's blocked off now too....

There are rumors of evacuating but it could be the hopeful who want to go home early....

Yeah, Viga! I love the bread they have on the counters for free. It's so yummy. Oh, I need to stop thinking about it now. Frozen yogurt sounds good too.
