An Open Letter to Mayor Menino
Dear Mayor Menino,
In light of the recently revised rules requiring all venues to end 18+ events no later than 11pm due to concerns about violence outside these venues, I am asking that the licensing board also call a hearing to consider the suspension of Symphony Hall's license to hold performances.
You might recall the holiday stabbings outside of Symphony Hall. This was no ephemeral threat to the hundreds of young children inside at the time of these stabbings, and a fair and equal application of the Law requires that the owners of Symphony Hall be held as accountable for the actions on the sidewalk outside their venue as the owners of clubs along Lansdowne Street are held for theirs.
If the owners of Symphony Hall are unable to control the mayhem in the streets outside their venue, then under the standards set by the Licensing Board in the name of Public Order, there should be penalties assessed and restrictions- if not an outright revocation- placed upon their license to operate. It is only Fair and it is only Right that the law apply equally to all.
Respectfully,
Sonofabish.
