Is there any decent pastrami in this town?

Though, if you can, get out to Joan & Ed's off Rt 9 in Natick across from the Natick Mall.

If it's still there, the NY Deli in South Station makes a GREAT pastrami sandwich.

No. Get on the Chinatown Bus, head to NYC, go to the Stage or find a Ben's somewhere and enjoy a real sandwich.

I hear Rubin's isn't bad, Joan and Ed's is an okay copy, but seriously I'm always jonesing for a good pastrami sandwich and I'm always slightly disappointed when I get something round here.

if money is no object, head to the butcherie on harvard street in brookline and get their romanian pastrami. it's $15 a pound, but is absolutely amazing. hide it from your friends.

The Hi-Spot Deli at 10 Beacon St. serves yummy deli. It's not a butcherie so you can only get sandwiches, not pounds of meat.

I second that, since this person beat me to it.
Well, I haven't been there in months and months, but when I was there, it was great.
Then, there's here, but the ambiance is less than desireable. lol.
But seriously, don't underestimate the home-cooked (or not cooked) stuff...it's simple, and you can do whatever you want with it.

There's a place near me that I order from when I don't feel like cooking...with grilled onions and honey mustard (light on both) It's yummy! Damn. Now I'm hungry.

Okay, I'll shut up now.

Second Michael's Deli. Also, for a high-quality pastrami or corned beef-based sandwich downtown, try Sam LaGrassa's.

I vote for Ankara Cafe in Kenmore Square, but I'm not that picky. I also don't live there anymore, I hope it's still there.
