Title: Gilead
Author: Yahtzee
Pairing: Mulder/Scully
Spoilers: the show's over--does it matter anymore? ;-)
Summary: Two people find each other again in a broken world, but can they save each other too?
Link: Gilead
Why: Because while I would never have thought of this crossover, it works so well it's scary and the result is one of the best apocalyptic XF fics ever not to include aliens. *g*

"The First Cut" by Philote (Heroes)

  • Nov. 15th, 2006 at 3:30 PM
Title: The First Cut
Author: Philote
Pairing: none
Spoilers: nothing past the pilot, really
Summary: The first time was an accident.
Link: The First Cut
Why: A chillingly realistic look at how Claire might have discovered her abilities, and how that discovery would change her.
Title Through the Looking Glass
Author: Amara_M
Pairing: Daniel/Sam
Spoilers: early season 8
Summary: All she wanted was to find a safe home for their child.
Link: Through the Looking Glass
Why: A deliciously angsty little Sam/Daniel AU that I'd forgotten about. Nice to know somewhere out there is a mirror universe where Sam is with Daniel, even if only in fanfic! ;-)
Title: Separate Salt from Sand
Author: Rachael Sabotini
Pairing: Beckett/Cadman
Spoilers: "Duet" but probably not in the way you think
Summary: Kate Heightmeyer has to conduct a rather distasteful interview after a horrific firefight leaves a friend crippled.
Link: Separate Salt from Sand
Why: Gives a couple of the background characters on Atlantis a chance to shine, including one of my favorites--Kate Heightmeyer--and I just love seeing the regulars through their eyes. Oh, and did I mention the plot is like a suckerpunch to the gut?
Title: Lay Down Your Sword
Author: Sandra MacDonald
Pairing: umm...Duncan/Amanda, Richie/Felicia are the ones I remember
Spoilers: not sure--written during S4 or early S5, I think
Summary: Events begin to fall into place that will set the final Gathering in motion and reveal a surprising truth about Immortality to the winner.
Link:
Lay Down Your Sword
Share the Disaster
Come to Dust
(Note: it's not necessary but definitely wouldn't hurt to also read Epilogue: Studies in Light, Seeds, You Don't Know Me, Epicenter and Choices After Evil for some background on the universe Sandra has set up.)
Why: I FOUND IT! This is probably my favorite Highlander fanfic series of all time, which still leaves me in awe of Sandra's ability to give the HL mythology depth and scope it never had on-screen, but back when I rec'ed "Seeds" I thought it had been taken permanently off-line. Glad I was wrong!

"Triptych" by alyse (Stargate Atlantis)

  • Oct. 26th, 2005 at 5:35 PM
Title: Triptych
Author: alyse
Pairing Grouping: Sheppard/Weir/McKay
Spoilers: hmmm...nothing past "The Storm"/"The Eye" I don't think
Summary: All they have left is each other.
Link: Triptych
Why: 'Cause it's just...guh. Dark, hot, poignant, vivid, and oh yeah, Elizabeth-centric. *g*
Title: Five Ways the World Won't End (And One Way It Could)
Author: CL Kamnikar
Pairing: mostly-ignorable hints of Buffy/Spike, Willow/Xander, Xander/Anya, Willow/Wesley, Giles/Anya, Angel/Cordelia, others
Spoilers: Buffy--up through "The Killer in Me" then just speculation; Fray--issue 6 (but you don't need to read Fray to understand it, I don't *g*)
Summary: See title.
Link: Five Ways the World Won't End (And One Way It Could)
Why: Bittersweet little alternate endings to "The Gift" and season 7, proving that the end of the world doesn't always have to mean the apocalypse, or even be something that everyone in the world would even notice.
Title: Retribution
Author: Emmy
Pairing: Harry/Ginny implied
Spoilers: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, future speculation
Link: Retribution
Why: I never really paid much attention to Ginny Weasley, but this dark, vengeful Ginny is deliciously chilling.
Title: Five Ways Marshall Sumner Died
Author: [info]daughtershade
Pairing: a hint of Sheppard/McKay but not so much it can't be ignored
Spoilers: through "The Siege"
Summary: (See title. *g*)
Link: Five Ways Marshall Sumner Died
Why: Sumner fic! Good Sumner fic! I loved Sumner despite the brevity of his role, largely because Robert Patrick has a gift for infusing his roles with more depth than the script gives 'em, and that's the same reason why Shade wrote this. :-)
Title: Goodnight, Moon
Author: Yahtzee
Pairing: none
Spoilers: nothing specific
Summary: God teaches Joan a hard lesson about love, survival and sacrifice at the end of the world.
Link: Goodnight, Moon
Why: Because I still tear up every time I read it.

"Epiphany" by SuzVoy (Stargate SG-1)

  • Jun. 7th, 2005 at 1:47 PM
Title: Epiphany
Author: SuzVoy
Pairing: Daniel/Jonas...sorta
Spoilers: S6
Summary: Forgiveness from an unexpected quarter.
Link: Epiphany
Why: The most moving, meaningful PWP ever written.

"Left Behind" by miera (Stargate Atlantis)

  • Jun. 7th, 2005 at 12:44 PM
Title: Left Behind
Author: miera
Pairing: Sheppard/Weir, Sheppard/McKay, implied Sheppard/Weir/McKay
Spoilers: "The Siege" I & II
Summary: Holding them together is all that's kept John from falling apart.
Link: Left Behind
Why: Best S/W/M OT3 fic *ever*.
