Title: Gilead
Author: Yahtzee
Pairing: Mulder/Scully
Spoilers: the show's over--does it matter anymore? ;-)
Summary: Two people find each other again in a broken world, but can they save each other too?
Link: Gilead
Why: Because while I would never have thought of this crossover, it works so well it's scary and the result is one of the best apocalyptic XF fics ever not to include aliens. *g*
Title: Five, er, Six Reports Nathan Stark Wishes Never Crossed His Desk
Author: Merlin Missy
Pairing: negligible mentions of Carter/Allison, Carter/Stark, Stark/Allison
Spoilers: um...I have no idea
Summary: See title.
Link: Five, er, Six Reports Nathan Stark Wishes Never Crossed His Desk
Why: I *loved* the madcap, black humor of Eureka's pilot. I stopped watching when it started trying to take itself too seriously (although I really should check and see if they ever got over that), but this story had everything I loved about the series in it, and nothing I didn't. Also a couple of the most *fantastic* crossovers. :-)
Title: Things That Go Bump in the Night
Author: Caitrin Torres
Pairing: Kate/Abby implied
Spoilers: maybe general ones for the first two seasons of NCIS, nothing specific past "Yankee White"; SG-1--none, really
Summary: A frustrated investigation leaves Abby with a lot of questions, and Kate with a few answers.
Link: Things That Go Bump in the Night
Why: Because it works exactly the way a crossover between NCIS and SG-1 should, right down to what Kate knows and why. The fact that it was written for me for [info]ncis_tinsel last year has nothing to do with it, I swear. ;-)

"On Duty" by kurakami (Angel/Lost)

  • Nov. 23rd, 2006 at 2:58 PM
Title: On Duty
Author: kurakami
Pairing: none
Spoilers: a little bit into second season, nothing past that
Summary: Some jobs are more entertaining than others.
Link: On Duty
Why: I haven't watched Lost in a while, so I don't know if they ever answered the "what exactly *is* the island?" question, but back when I was watching it, this was my absolute favorite of all the non-canonical theories being floated. :-D
Title: To Serve a Queen
Author: Tielan
Pairing: Ronon/Weir with a dash of Sheppard/Teyla
Spoilers: umm...sortof for S2--AU version of some events
Link: To Serve a Queen
Why: I think I'll just let the fact that I devoured this--even though I don't 'ship either of the main pairings and had no knowledge, at the time, of the universe it was crossed over with--and then went out and bought the Black Jewels Trilogy to get to know that world better speak for itself. It's one of the best Atlantis AUs out there.
Title: The Witness
Author: Michele Martin
Pairing: Starman/Jenny, umm...maybe a dash of Duncan/Anne and Nick/Nat but not much
Summary: Take one vampire cop, several Immortals, one half-alien witness to a Quickening and two FBI agents way out of their jurisdiction, mix well...and then have Sam leap into Schanke.
Link: The Witness
Why: How many crossovers do you know that could juggle FIVE fandoms and treat them all fairly? With cameos by a few more? Yeah. That's what I thought. *grin*
Title: Late Nights and Other Irrelevancies
Author: Ari
Pairing: McKay/House
Spoilers: "Rising"
Summary: Accurate diagnoses all around.
Link: Late Nights and Other Irrelevancies
Why: Because the idea of House and McKay snarking in the same fic was just too delicious to resist, even if I skimmed the sex parts. *g*
Title: Five Ways the World Won't End (And One Way It Could)
Author: CL Kamnikar
Pairing: mostly-ignorable hints of Buffy/Spike, Willow/Xander, Xander/Anya, Willow/Wesley, Giles/Anya, Angel/Cordelia, others
Spoilers: Buffy--up through "The Killer in Me" then just speculation; Fray--issue 6 (but you don't need to read Fray to understand it, I don't *g*)
Summary: See title.
Link: Five Ways the World Won't End (And One Way It Could)
Why: Bittersweet little alternate endings to "The Gift" and season 7, proving that the end of the world doesn't always have to mean the apocalypse, or even be something that everyone in the world would even notice.
Title: Runaway Trains at 3AM/Lines of Communication
Author: CL Kamnikar
Pairing: sorta Clark/Dawn but not really
Spoilers: nothing recent
Summary: Two runaways help each other shoulder the burden of their not-quite-human existences.
Link:
Runaway Trains at 3AM
Lines of Communication
Why: Probably the most inventive Buffy/Smallville crossover ever written, by one of my favorite authors in several fandoms. :-)

ETA: Links current as of 10/13/06
Title: Cheyenne
Author: Seldear
Pairing: nothing overt
Spoilers: nothing specific that I can think of
Summary: Sometimes the most different folks in the 'verse have surprising things in common.
Link:
Part I
Part II
Why: One of my favorite types of crossovers is the AU kind that takes characters from one universe and drops them into another as if they belonged there, to see how they'd be the same and how they'd be different. This one does that to SG-1 with great success, and a twist or two that'll take your breath away if you're paying attention. :-)
Title: Made-Up Things
Author: KM Petravich
Pairing: Susan/other, Petunia/Vernon, James/Lily
Spoilers: The Last Battle and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone
Summary: Susan's daughters embark upon a magical odyssey of their own.
Link: Made-Up Things
Why: Because the only thing I was dissatisfied with in Narnia was Susan's fate, and this not only fixes that but blends the two universes in a beautiful, seamless way. :-)

ETA: link updated 08/19/07
Title: Smoke and Flame
Author: Jedi Buttercup
Pairing: none
Spoilers: BtVS--"Chosen"; Angel--"Not Fade Away"; SG-1--"Origin"
Summary: The Powers That Be warn their champions about a new threat.
Link:
Where There's Smoke
Harbinger
Something Worse
Why: Because really, SG-1's going to need all the help they can get, and the idea behind this series is just cool. ;-) Heavier on the Buffyverse side, but you still need to have seen SG-1 S9 to "get" it.
Title: Retribution
Author: Emmy
Pairing: Harry/Ginny implied
Spoilers: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, future speculation
Link: Retribution
Why: I never really paid much attention to Ginny Weasley, but this dark, vengeful Ginny is deliciously chilling.
Title: Inherited Business
Author: Jedi Buttercup
Pairing: none
Spoilers: BB--the movie; BtVS--through "Chosen"
Summary: So who *does* one hire to construct a super-secret superhero hideaway?
Link: Inherited Business
Why: Jedi is one of my favorite crossover authors, and the reason is because she always comes up with the most unique ideas, like this one.
Title: The Ridiculous and the Obscure
Author: Besterette
Pairing: none
Spoilers: TS--TSbyBS; SG-1...nothing major beyond the movie &/or pilot
Summary: Winning and losing is all a matter of perspective.
Link: The Ridiculous and the Obscure
Why: IMO, a *perfect* Daniel reaction to Blair's press conference, if they knew each other. *g*
Title: Goodnight, Moon
Author: Yahtzee
Pairing: none
Spoilers: nothing specific
Summary: God teaches Joan a hard lesson about love, survival and sacrifice at the end of the world.
Link: Goodnight, Moon
Why: Because I still tear up every time I read it.
Title: Them Mean Ol' Low Down Lando Calrissian Blues
Author: Yahtzee
Pairing: slight hints of Clark/Lex
Spoilers: umm...nothing recent
Summary: Token black guys bond while their white co-stars are preoccupied.
Link: Them Mean Ol' Low Down Lando Calrissian Blues
Why: Because Yahtzee does satire as well as she does angst, which says a lot! Plus, oblivious!Clark and some decent "screentime" for Pete! ;-)

"Hell Money" by FayJay (Angel/Smallville)

  • Jul. 27th, 2005 at 8:21 PM
Title: Hell Money
Author: FayJay
Pairings: none
Spoilers: teensy ones for Smallville S1
Summary: W&H handles an irritable client.
Link: Hell Money
Why: Because of *course* Lionel is a client of W&H--plus, it's a great pre-"Memoria" explanation for Julian. *g*
Title: Who Watches the Watchers?
Author: Kim Sefcik
Pairing: none
Summary: Chance's luck sucks him into a mystery of staggering proportions, and brings to light a few secrets the Watchers didn't even want Joe to know.
Link: Who Watches the Watchers?
Why: Of the very small amount of Strange Luck fic out there, most of it involves crossovers, and this remains one of the most engaging, IMO.
Title: Someone to Watch Over Me/Siege
Author: Laura Picken
Pairing: none that I remember...maybe a dash of M/S UST
Summary: A trip to Cascade brings out some surprising new abilities in Mulder and Scully. (Inspired by Lifeline)
Link:
Someone to Watch Over Me
Siege
Why: There's that telepathy fic kink again. *grin* And this story was what got me into The Sentinel fandom (before I'd ever seen the series), as well as what inspired me to go back and read Lifeline.
