So, thoughts from the movie! ( Spoilers, but you know. )I probably had a few other things to say, but I am EXHAUSTED. I need to see it again. ♥ Current Mood: geeky |

What I did at work today...
My boss did a photo shoot with the eco-bag from the U of T book store. I became the student sitting next to the bag. Except, if you look at the picture, all you can see is the bag, and my hand with my bright blue nail polish. And yes, this shoot was in front of the Koffler building, meaning a lot of people walked past and stared, and I had to explain, "the bag's the model, not me" because I was making funny faces at the camera. Oh, my job. I will post pictures as soon as I get them :D |

ride hard, cowboy
Let it be known that Iri, has finally gotten her mount. And it is large. Elephent(like) and freakin purple. I'm so happy, Iri's just riding along, happy as she pleases. But the greatest thing is, my mount matches everything. <3 Things I will take note for next time: a.) the letter lies, it does not take 45 gold pieces to purchase riding lessons and a mount (fail, people, you're made of fail for making me work so hard to make the quota and then not even take it all. but I guess it was beneficial, 'cause I need mage training badly and I'm still not halfway done and down to like 1 gold.) b.) start saving before you get to level 29 (it helps and you won't have to skimp on things you need, like training) right now, I'm gonna frolick on my purple!elephant and be merry. speak Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" (or you can just ask for the meme, I won't mind) and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you. words provided by the amazing celticoak <3
1. Panda! (I adore your panda icon!! xDD)I pandas. My favorite animal (2nd is Walruses, 3rd is emperor penguins) I don't remember when the fascination started, probably somewhere here and ending around here. I see one and am like ZOMG. (♥__♥;). I have a darling panda bear my mommy gave me for my 18th b-day and it goes with me pretty much every where. School, trips, sleepovers etc. His name is Momo and he's the cutest thing ever. (I also have a little tare-panda phone charm on my cell <3) 2. Star TrekMy latest obsession. Began with Star Trek XI, which was orgasm inducing in its own right, and ends with st_xi_kink. XD After the movie I got into the original series and discovered the hotness which is Lenard Nimoy and the awesomness of 60s scifi graphics. <3 <3 <3 its pretty much stolen my soul, its the only fandom I actually participate in nowadays, (though I still read fics from the Heroes fandom, but that's slowed down with the off season). Since May I've bought, Season One and Season Two of TOS, the Best of TOS DVD and The Star Trek Movie Trilogy collection. *__* 3. EvanescenceI first heard them (with most of america) during the Dare Devil movie in 2003 and its pretty much been love and adoration since. Fallen as cheesy as this sounds was pretty much my life's soundtrack during 2003 -2004, it was nice to listen to something that fit my thoughts, moods, and interests so easily. Not to mention that Amy Lee was the most gorgeous women I'd ever seen. <3 <3 <3 I pretty much delved deeper into their music in 2005, found all unreleased music I could and played it on repeat for a long time. 2006 TOD came out and it took me a while to appreciate it for what it was, but after a while it stuck and I do love it almost as much as Fallen. Its been a while since Amy's released anything but whenever I listen to their older music I'm a little more understanding. I've grown older now and I'm happier now, but its lovely to go back and sink into the music that I have loved and still love so much. 4. Fanfictionoh, man. The sickness began when I found a random fanfiction of Ah! My Goddess by accident around '99 or so, I don't even remember it and I didn't pay much attention to it at all because I was looking for pictures, not stories. But it stuck in my mind until 2000 - 2001, after X-men came out. My first official fandom I guess, since it was there that I found Fanfiction.net. Its really sad because I can't really contemplate what my life would be like if I didn't know fanfiction. I've been reading so long (almost 10 years now O__O) its hard to think where I'd be without it. Since essentially, fanfiction introduced me to the interent and without fanfiction I probably wouldn't be on lj right now. lol 5. Anime began with Sailor Moon (officially) I watched it religiously when I was six years old. It'd come on around 6 in the morning before I'd go to day care, mom would tape it for me and I'd watch it after school. (I still have some of those tapes) I went overseas, came back and hoshit there's Cartoon Network (back when it was awesome) and Toonami. It was there that I was introduced to Outlaw Star, the Tenchi series, Ruroni Kenshin, Card Captors and others. Cartoon Network then expanded to Adult Swim, and I watched Cow Boy Bebop, Trigun, Samurai Champloo and others before I (again) moved overseas. I was older when we moved this time, about 13 years old, and I meet friends that introduced me to more fandoms like Inuyasha, Kingdom Hearts, Yu Yu Hakusho, and others. I came back to the states, got a job and actually started buying my own anime, (fanfiction was also a contributor, I found many new fandoms and new shows through the internet ). Anime's been a pretty stable piece of my life, in High School I joined the Anime Club, in 2006 I went to my first convention with friends, I became the VP of my Anime Club in HS junior year and my freshman year of college I established an anime organization on campus. Anime also opened the door for my interest in Japanese Culturem which is also a pretty big chunk of my life at the moment. [FIC]Serran [1/1] Title: Serran Fandom: Star Trek Rating: g Summary: based on this prompt. Anon wanted a schmoopy kid!fic where Sarek is introduced to Kirk and Spock's kid, he is at first shocked at this kid's behavior but ultamitely falls under the spell of Spock+Kirk=offspring!cuteness and becomes that one grandpop who can't stop talking about his grandkids. Warnings: a bit of angst (mostly fluff) mpreg implied but not focused on. If that doesn't rock your boat go with the idea artificial insemination of a willing female. w/e way you choose to look at it, the baby happens and the baby is cute. <3 any mistakes are mine, comments and constructive crit are very much welcomed. Stolen work
Remember that freelance work I was talking about? Yah, I got COMPLETELY screwed over! Lets recap shall we? I was working on a Logo for my clients newsletter business. I was given photos of the woman and had to draw her-cartoon style-as a nurse. I had gone through 23 different versions. She liked it, but there were always changes. We decided to meet up to finish the logo, but when we met she told me she wanted something totally different. wonderful. So after working on this logo for about two weeks I had to start all over. I worked hard on re-drawing the nurse and getting the logo part to work right. It took about three-ish days to get it to look all perfect. Once I thought it looked alright I sent my client the PDF so she could see my progress. I heard nothing back from her. A day later I woke up to the reply. "Hi Tara, Hope you are going to have some fun for the 4th. Even if it's just going to fireworks. Rachel the lady doing the actual layout for Waiting Room Today took your design and did the below with it. I am sure you will be pleased. it was your artwork to begin with. You are so talented. I can see you doing vector art for me with when I design my website, and the newsletter. I also owe you $30, so do you want me to mail it to you? Let me know and I will. Please don't feel bad about completing the logo. Rachel just took it upon herself without me even knowing and I loved it so much! Hope you do too! " Emphasis on the "took your design" See, My client, Alison, decided to show my design to this Rachel woman, and she decided to TAKE MY DESIGN and finish it for me. Is it unreasonable for me to be angry... is it? Is it? I mean this woman took all of the hard work I had been doing and changed it, edited MY artwork, and everything. I didn't even say anything back... Just said "Oh. looks nice.." I'm just pissed, and I feel like MY hard work was stolen. Maybe I am worng. Current Mood: angryCurrent Music: Stepmania music |

I've forgotten just how good Infernal Affairs (aka, the film that was remade into The Departed) is. A friend had the International release where they had English and French dub versions, and that was such a melodramatic failboat of lol. Young undercover cop: "I'm either going to be killed by cops or beaten up by gangsters" *pained look from actor* Me: Oh, second hand embarrassment. ROFFLECOPTOR. I could handle it anymore and went back to the original Chinese. The movie is intense. I've always vaguely remembered the movie as "good", but re-watching years later and am still crying and short of breath at various scenes? So much, so much love. I just want to give Tony Leung's character a hug. He deserves one sfm. Anyhow. Yes, so if you haven't seen it, you really really should. It's an intensely suspenseful, fast-paced action cop film, cop vs. gangster, except where the cop is the gangster and the gangster is the cop. Complicated and brilliantly done. |

givin' it all she's got, captain.
saw star trek again today, probably for the last time. Am I the only one who wanted to start cheering as soon as the title appeared? Or when the enterprise escaped the black hole? cause I was "this" close, this close! It was 10xs more enjoyable in the aftermath of the ST Kink meme. :P "What gives you the right (mothafucker?)?" "I'm giving it all she's got, Captain!" (so says Scotty, *cough*during the sex*cough*.) "I've got your gun." "...that's not my gun." "...well this is awkward."
Am I the only one who thought that Kirk was getting his ass kicked all through the movie? PS: George Kirk, damn man. You almost made me cry (again) with your awesome. It also didn't help that I was thinking of this: all through your scenes. thank you, ontd_startrek , thank you for making my viewage exceedingly pleasurable. HOT AND COLD
君が絶えずに紡いでた、私の心の地図を広げ。 でも、願いが生まれたら、一人でそれを生きるしかない。 Remember that game where someone makes you search for something by guessing exhaustively? Yeah, this will be kinda like that. I dread all those phone calls and all those bills and having to talk to all those people no one ever wants to talk to. I guess one could say I'm rather avoidant. That said, I'm starting to wonder if I can manage to look you in the eye again--I mean, I know it's been a while or whatever, but I thought I'd prepared myself pretty extensively during our quality time not hardly knowing each other. I thought that was what I've been doing all these years. There's a nice proverb about fooling people that I plan to recite in the near future; even so, for some reason, it's way easier to fool yourself than to try and fool other people. They always see right through, isn't that weird? 愛よりも強い気持ちで、 すべてを感じられる。 That whole heart-melty thing is all very sentimental in books and movies about love actually doing this or that, but in real life--I mean, in the modern world--isn't it more akin to an epic waste of one's time? Then again, I'm a first-rate time-waster, so technically I should be good to go. But in an effort to spare my dignity, it's not at all about you, it's about the whole fucking rubber band thought ball word vomit universe and all the people trying to get out. It's about all those crazy people shooting up, shooting each other, trying to draw their way out of the paper bag that is planet Earth. That concept should merit something, albeit in the form of a cryptic message. That thing I mentioned seemed to go way over your head, anyway. So, am I getting any warmer? ところで、君はそれをきっと見つけるよ。 Current Mood: cynical // moon in sagittariusCurrent Music: OLIVIA // sailing free |

Writer's Block: Streaming
mostly last.fm because what I listen to is scrobbled onto my track list. I remember especially using the last.fm radio during those long nights writing paper after paper in the library. Pandora is my second favorite because it doesn't scrobble and it won't let you skip songs after a while. http://www.last.fm/user/xiaou_xijiang Current Mood: hungryCurrent Music: 坂本真綾 - 30minutes night flight ~sound of a new day | Powered by Last.fm |
