Awakening Fire

Summary: Ooh, we've gone back in time! The year is C.E.64, and Dearka and Yzak are ten years old - and believe us when we say, you have never seen anything cuter in your life! (Though they only LOOK cute - in fact, they're both violent little brats already, as becomes clear when they meet for the first time.) We also get to meet their parents - Dearka's dad, who's basically an idiot, and his mum who's probably on valium. But at least neither of them are as creepy as Yzak's mother.

P.S.: Right now, Private D is the last of Kurume Nanao's published works. But we promise, that as soon as she releases the next one, we'll do it immediately.

Summary: It's two years on from the boys' time as Reds, and Yzak, now a Commander, seems rather different - calmer and more stable - but his haircut's exactly the same. Dearka, meanwhile, has spent the last half a year in prison, and he's not exactly been welcomed back to Zaft with open arms - except of course by Yzak. But although he insists he trusts Dearka when he meets... uh, some guy he's sure he knows from somewhere, even Yzak secretly has his doubts. Can he really trust Dearka? Well of course he can - the real question is, by the time he realises this, will it be too late for them ever to be as close as they used to be again?

A quick note: Despite that this is set much later than previous volumes, during Destiny, it was actually published earlier in the series - between Assault Shroud and Primal. We decided to scan it in order according to the storyline instead, not that it would have mattered either way! :)

Summary: They've been rescued, but the boys are still on Earth, working at Zaft's Gibraltar base. Even having a whole new set of subordinates to make life difficult for can't distract Yzak from the fact that Dearka's been avoiding him since that night on the island. Well, nothing like a good argument or two to get these two back on good terms, and eventually Dearka decides it's worth trying to talk about how they feel after all. And if after all that's happened between them that's too awkward, he can always win Yzak over using his amazing butterfly catching skills instead.

Summary: Abandoned at Earth, Yzak and Dearka are forced to make atmospheric entry in their Gundams. Luckily for them, they not only survive, but handily touch down on a tiny island. Dearka struggles to get over the fact that Yzak's slightly insane, so he can start dealing with the fact that having Yzak around makes him slightly insane as well - if he doesn't know why that is already, he's got to have realised by the time they get off the island.

Meanwhile, Commander Kreuze still hasn't come looking for them. He probably just... forgot where he left them. Right?

Summary: Duel having been considerably damaged by the Strike, Yzak's on a yelling, screaming rampage and no-one is safe. More in an attempt to get Yzak to like him again than anything else, Dearka comes up with an idea for improving Duel's poor defences - when it becomes clear it's completely impossible, Yzak decides to go for it. Before the work is done, however, Yzak faces Strike for a second time... Can Duel's original armour withstand attack by the Strike again? Will heavy sedation calm Yzak down a bit? What makes Dearka think he can do the work of a full team of trained mechanics? And why IS that guy winking at him?

Summary: They've graduated! Huzzah! Even Dearka's made the Reds, and off they go to join the elite Kreuze team - disappointingly there's less Natural-killing to be done than they expect (which gives Nicol plenty of time to read some of his favourite composers). Rusty proves himself more than once to be the only one of them with any diplomacy, level-headedness or observational skills whatsoever - whatever would they do without him? Let's hope they don't have to find out when they finally get sent out on a real mission....

Summary: Continuation of Dearka and Yzak's adventures at Zaft school. Disaster - surprisingly, the debris recovery mission does not go just as planned! Stuck out in uncharted space together, will they find some common ground to help them get along for long enough to get themselves home safely, or will they just fight until they use up all their oxygen?
