AboutHi there! Welcome to avatar_exchange, the holiday gift exchange for Avatar: the Last Airbender.
Sign-ups are CLOSED for Christmas 2007.
The Premise
This community is inspired by other holiday exchange communities, like![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif)
bleach_exchange and naruto_wishlist. It is to be a Secret Santa gift exchange, in which you send in your request for an Avatar fanfic/fanart/icon set/layout, and I will assign it to someone who is to keep their identity secret while they work on your request. Before the deadline, they send in their gift to me, and I will post it, along with all the other requests, day by day toward the end of the holiday season. Sound good?
The Rules & Procedure
1. Join the community: here.
2. Copy and paste the form below these rules into a comment to this post. Fill out the form carefully and accurately. Comments will be screened. Sign-ups will be closed on October 20, 2007, or whenever I receive 50 sign-ups; whichever comes first. A post containing all applicants will be posted to the community; once your name is added, you are a confirmed participant.
3. By October 31, 2007, you will have received an email from me containing your assignment for the gift exchange. I will do my best to match up participants with similar interests to make the fanwork-making process slightly easier. If by November 1 Pacific Standard Time, you have not received your gift assignment, send me an email and we'll work something out.
4. Read the request carefully and do your best to fulfill your assignee's request. If possible, go with their first choice; don't just half-ass your assignment and do the third request just because it would be easier. Put some thought into the gift.
5. I ask that all fanfic gifts be at least 1000 words, fanart gifts be at least 400x400 pixels, and that they at least be inked if not colored, and icon sets have at least five icons.
6. All gifts must be sent to my email, sweet-difference@sbcglobal.net, with "[your name] - Avatar Exchange gift for [assignee name]" in the subject title by December 15, 2007. More details on formatting is available at this post.
7. If everything goes well, starting on December 16 and ending on the 25, I will post five gifts per day.
8. If you are unable to complete the challenge, please drop me an email as soon as possible. I don't want any participants to end up giftless.
9. If in the event that I do not have all of the assignments in by the 15th, I will need back-up giftmakers. These must be open-minded people who can carry out any assignment no matter what the request and must be able to complete the assignment within a limited amount of time. If you are going to be a regular participant, please note in your request form that you are also available as a back-up giftmaker. If not, just send an email my way. Also, if you are not a participant but would like to be considered as a back-up giftmaker, email me. I'd like to not have to employ these back-ups, but stuff happens in real life and we have no control over that.
10. To keep the secret of your identity, I ask that you please refrain from publishing your gift anywhere until the list of participant identities has been revealed on January 1st. After this, you are free to post your gift grant wherever you wish.

What pairs/characters can you/will you absolutely not write?: List only one pairing and one character, if any
Preferred Ratings: G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17 or all
Preferred Pairings/Characters: listed in order of preference
What will you not read/look at?: list anything you can't stand; certain pairings, certain characters, slash, incest, pedo, etc.
Preferred Genre(s): romance, drama, angst, fluff, genfic, family, hurt/comfort, action, etc.
Any specific prompts?: specific themes/objects/other challenges to pose to your giftmaker
Requests: List your requests in order of preference, for example - 1. fanfic 2. fanart 3. icons
