VIRUS/HACKER WARNING

  • Apr. 16th, 2009 at 1:26 PM
I had this actually happen in another community that I'm in, and I figured it's time I threw a message over here.

There's been a rash of bots/hackers going around and hacking into LJ journals, then posting in communities the person runs stating a message similar to the following:

Due to legal issues I am no longer using LJ for this community. Any future posts to this community should go to the new forum I set up. All older posts will be found here.

Littered in the message are links. DO NOT CLICK ON THOSE LINKS, AND MESSAGE ANOTHER MAINTAINER OF THE COMMUNITY IF YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE OR LJ THEMSELVES IMMEDIATELY!!! The links go to Web sites loaded with viruses that will completely destroy your computer.

Cat, Zippit, and I are not going to be closing these communities, so if you see something like this on one of the communities we maintain here as part of seasonwrite, PLEASE let one of us know!

December and [info]autumnwrite FINAL STANDINGS

  • Jan. 5th, 2009 at 11:52 PM
Ok guys one more post from me here in [info]autumnwrite. Just trying to get all those loose ends tied up. ;) I'm going to go ahead and post the full numbers I had for December so everyone can see where they ended up. I'll also go ahead and post the end of challenge totals for Sept-Dec. Please realize these numbers reflect what I have been given in the daily word count posts. If you didn't post I couldn't count them. ;)

With that said, here are your counts for the month of December as well as the entire challenge! :D

December and Autumnwrite Overall Standings )

And by request I'm adding the community's total word count for all of [info]autumnwrite. Are you you ready for this?

During the entire challenge we have a total reported word count of:

3,528,246

YES that IS right! We all wrote over THREE AND A HALF MILLION WORDS! This is so amazing and more than I ever expected. Congrats to all of you who have made this happen! :D

AUTUMNWRITE WINNER AWARDS

  • Jan. 5th, 2009 at 11:14 PM
And now for the big shinies ;)

We thought a lot about what awards to give for the over all challenge and in our eyes it really came down to one. Did you meet the 150,000 word challenge. We do the monthlies and team awards to keep people motivated but this is truly the real prize and I'm thrilled to say we have nine people who met this challenge. So I want everyone to give a big congratulations to [info]aidanself, [info]callisto24, [info]candy_chan, [info]heartundone, [info]jedishadowolf, [info]qudaitsewukong, [info]moonlitxmelody, [info]seal_girl, [info]smakn. I am so beyond impressed with you all. I'll be posting all your awards here but just so we have one outside the cut, and because she had the highest reported count I'm going to post [info]seal_girl's first. All others will be behind the cut. :D Also if any of you guys would like your name to be formated differently or anything just comment and let me know. ;)

ALL OTHER AWARDS )

We'd also like to give honorable mentions to [info]acushla712 and [info]tru_faith_lost who were both over 140,000 words and very, very close. We are all so very, very proud of you guys and everyone who took part in [info]autmnwrite. You've all made this a great success. Hope to see you all next year and over in [info]springwrite!

E.T.A. [info]acushla712 did finish the challenge with a total of 156792. Sorry hun, I got this up before I got your final counts. Your award has been added behind the cut.

DECEMBER AWARDS TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jan. 5th, 2009 at 10:20 PM
Hey guys...

Woot! Believe it or not we finally made it through! And it's all because of you. :D First off I want to apologize for the lateness of these awards. Unfortunately two of your mods had a bit of computer trouble to start the new year but it looks like we've got it sorted out for the most part. Now we'd like to take the time to thank each and every one of you for making our first foray into modding something like this such a success. Whether you wrote every day of just a few weeks out of the challenge you all make this a wonderful place for writing and encouragement. Thank you all for sticking with us the last four months and I look forward to seeing you guys in the other [info]seasonwrite communities. And now with no more delay...your DECEMBER AWARDS! ;)

The first shiny we want to give out is for everyone who wrote in December. You may not have reached the official "quota" but if you wrote, if you found your muse and made your own quota or just got started, this award is for you.

December Accomplished

I'll be putting all the rest of the usual awards under the cut. Please check them out. :D

AWARDS )

Now we would all like to say a big CONGRATULATIONS and a THANK YOU to each and every one of you who has participated in [info]autumnwrite. I will be posting the banners for everyone who made the writing goal of 150,000 words in the next post, but I want to say that anyone who found their muse should consider themselves a winner. This is a long challenge and we're so very happy to see so many sticking through until the end. I will also be posting final words counts for the challenge and month, as I have them, as well as the over all count for [info]autumnwrite tonight.

Once again, thank you all so much. When [info]zippitgood and I decided to try running this we really hoped it could be something that would grow and continue from season to season, year after year. You all have given us a tremendous start. Thanks to you all and we hope to see you in [info]springwrite as well as back here next year for [info]autumnwrite take two. ;)

Your Very Proud Mods

We've got plenty of awards too. Team awards, tagged banners for those who completed the 150,000 challenge and those that wrote everyday, along with possibly a few extras. Stay tuned so you'll be sure to pick up your shinies.

Just wanted to remind everyone that [info]springwrite is already gearing up. Teams have been assigned but we're always taking more members for teams and for tackling the challenge on your own. So head on over, sign up, and gear yourself up for another four months of productivity on the project(s) of your choice!

Now that we've spent months cranking out word count I think it's a good time to look at *what* we've been writing. I do this every few weeks when I go over my work to post it and end up cutting hundreds of unnecessary words and phrases. It's a hard thing to do, but I think you really do need to come back to your work with a critical eye. I think there's nothing better than dashes and getting all the count you can, but at the same time...do we really NEED all those words. LOL

[info]springwrite

  • Dec. 23rd, 2008 at 11:51 AM
Hey guys, just wanted to make sure you all knew the fun doesn't end with [info]autumnwrite. We would love to have you all continue with us through spring. :D Here's the info on the next greatest writing challenge. ;)

You've heard of Nanowrimo, 1667 words in 30 days to produce a 50,000 word novel, and a piece of your day is set aside so your fingers can fly like the wind. Ever wanted something longer? More of a challenge? Just wanted to write more than one month?

Now's your chance with [info]springwrite!

The goal is 150,000 words at the end of 4 months which works out to be 1250 words a day. This is a continuation in the [info]seasonwrite series so if you've been part of [info]autumnwrite or [info]summerwrite we would love to have you here as well, and if not please come join the fun! ;) It doesn't matter what you work on either. A novel, multiple short pieces, multiple series, etc. Whatever you want. As long as you're writing every day, that's all we're after. Also you don't have to hit the daily quota either. Every word counts so don't be afraid to join because you don't think you can write "that much." You'd be surprised what you can accomplish. I know we have been. ;) :D

We have in the works banners and awards for highest monthly individual word count, team count, overall highest individual and team word count, most active team and a team work award, all of which are outlined in the awards post. Also there will be participation and quota banners for each month so if you like to collect the "shinies" we try to offer something for everyone. ;)

The number of teams will be set on December 30th, but any one who stumbles onto [info]autumnwrite after the start date will be placed on a team or may join as an individual if they want.

This was all inspired by [info]summerwrite with sister comm [info]autumnwrite which is just finishing up. \0/

If you're interested, hurry and sign up before December 30th if you can, but people are welcome to join at any point!

The FAQ's here.

The Sign Up post is here.

The list of offered awards is here

Feel free to pimp this everywhere!
