Austin Critical Mass Ride - TOMORROW!

  • Jul. 24th, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Love it or hate it, that big, crazy, fun and always unpredictable ride called Critical Mass is going to be coming to a downtown near you. Specifically tomorrow, 5pm, meeting on the UT West Mall. Here's a flyer for more info:

Hope to see some of y'all out there!

I agree! That is a really cool flier. :] I would like to politely mention that I think 'helmets' should be added to the list of things to bring.

I'd like to add, too, that making a dog run next to your bike should NOT be allowable.

Don't worry, it wouldn't be. Most dog owners use a trailer or sidecar for their pets. We have one guy whos dog sits in the basket of his cruiser. I know another girl who has a fully encloseable cage for her cats, but she hasn't brought them on the ride yet. The pets love the attention!

I want to go! The only mass I have in my town is at midnight on Thursdays in sketchy downtown with all of the drunkies on the road. Incredibly dangerous.

Don't worry, Austin. I'm coming soon.

Get the hell off my concrete, deadbeat.

Heh, didn't see your name on it. Hell, I own two cars and I pay my taxes. That stretch of concrete's mine... ;)

P.S. y'all, avoid downtown around 5:30 on if you don't like smiling faces and friendly bikers temporarily slowing your commute down.

I'm interested but I probably won't be able to make the 5pm start time... this may be somewhat unfeasible but is there anyway to know the route that will be taken so we can try and join the ride en progess?

It's be nice if they actually were friendly. A large group that I assume was a Critical Mass (but may not have been, I dunno) included some members who were extremely rude to my boyfriend and me. We were in his car, yes, but we were staying in our lane, away from the bikes, and moving at a relaxed pace. Many shouted insults or made rude hand gestures.

A few smiled or waved, too, but the rude outnumbered the nice, unfortunately. It makes me sad to see such behavior in Austin, no matter the vehicle someone has.

Edit: Oh, this wasn't today, but a previous Friday. No, I don't remember which day, unfortunately.

It was 27 June and I'm still sort of bummed about it.
