candles

  • Jan. 30th, 2008 at 11:48 AM
I know I can get the molded candles at Hobby Lobby and Bedbathandbeyond, and stinky ones at Yankee Candle Co. and the like, but I'm hoping to find hand-dipped taper candles in a variety of colors. I've been getting them at the Candle Factory up in Georgetown for years, but they appear to be going paws-up so I'm hoping there's someplace nearby that has them. I usually buy a few dozen at a time, if that matters.

The Candle Factory is closing up? That's unfortunate; do you know how much longer they plan on being open for?

No idea. They haven't said they were closing, but they said they were only going to be open on weekends while they get ready to move. When I asked them where they were moving to, they said they didn't have a place and were going to just do internet sales until they found a place. I placed an order with them on the internet on 1/12 which has not been filled, charged, or even mentioned in any way aside from the automated "we got your order" reply. So it sounds to me like they are closing but just not telling anyone. :-(

I saw some hand-dipped tapers at Crystal Works awhile back. I think most of them were multi-colored candles. I don't recall them having a very large stock, but you could check it out. They are at 12th and Lamar, near The Tavern.

You can get a bajillion colors of hand-dipped tapers at The Home Retreat, on 2nd and Lavaca. While they might not have the all the colors you want in stock, they'll order them for you and even ship/deliver them to you.
