Project Runway bar television takeover

  • Feb. 27th, 2008 at 10:42 AM
I don't get Bravo, but I want pretty badly to see the Project Runway season finale tonight. Are there any bars where I can catch the show? Anyplace where folks watch it regularly? Or maybe you know a bartender who doesn't mind putting up with an hour of reality TV on a Wednesday night!

Lost Dog

  • Feb. 27th, 2008 at 11:34 AM
This is a bit of a stretch, but our ninja escape artist dog managed to hop a 6' privacy fence last night in Dawson neighborhood (between Congress and S. 1st, near Great Outdoors nursery).  His name is Charlie, and he has a red collar on that probably lost its tags (the tag clasp tends to fall apart).

He's pretty friendly, but he also seems to thing games of "Catch Me" are hilarious, so he may or may not be easy to grab.  He's probably hungry, since he hasn't eaten since yesterday morning.  He'll chase cats if they don't let them approach him, and may have travelled pretty far.  If you think you've seen this dog, even if you think he couldn't have possibly gotten that far, please let me know.

My 1 year old son has decided that Charlie is his soul mate, and is missing him very much.  Any help is appreciated.

(Yes, we've contacted our neighborhood association and all surrounding neighborhood assocations, and have put in a Lost Pet report to Town Lake)

Zilker Kite Festival

I can't remember what kind of food they usually have.  Is it all Austin area vendors?  Carnival food?  I have never actually eaten anything there when I've gone in the past, and the website doesn't give that info.   I don't remember if I declined the food before because it was all BBQ, or because it was all carnie food (or... if I was just poor at the time).  Anyone know what they have?

(It would be really awesome if jim jim's(?) water ice had a booth there!)

Does anyone know where one could pick up a lomo fisheye camera or a holga fisheye lens around town? Price?

Thanks!

Donation specifics around Austin?

  • Feb. 27th, 2008 at 4:40 PM
Hi all,

I am doing some pre-moving cleaning and I found in my bathroom I have an obscene number of full-sized unopened toiletries. I've got special medicated stuff that I use now, so this stuff is no longer useful for me.
Along those lines, I found a bunch of new toys and kids' things(I have friends that love Toy Joy) that I would like to donate as well. I would love to donate to a smaller women's shelter that may not get the exposure that SafePlace does, but still has the need, rather than someplace like Salvation Army or Savers. If you are aware of any places like this, please let me know and I will gladly drop it off. If not, I'll just go to SafePlace. Thank you in advance!

Hello All!

  • Feb. 27th, 2008 at 9:10 PM
Hey everyone,

My name is Sam and I am getting married around May 4th 2008, and I recently purchased my wedding dress online. While the overal fit is great I need some slight alterations. Let me preface this by saying, I am on a super tight budget. By tight I mean this.

Dress Cost: $130
Ceremony Site: $100
Invitations: $80
Rings: $50
Food and Beverages: $150
Decorations: $100

So you see I do not have a lot of room to get the alterations done and they are fairly simple, the dress needs to be taken in on the sides to adjust for a smaller torso, and then I need some simple tacking done to hold some rouching in place.

If anyone can recommend a reasonably costing place, that offers a QUOTE FIRST I would majorly appreciate it!!

-Sam

bustle on a budget

  • Feb. 27th, 2008 at 9:38 PM
Since I don't want the back of my wedding dress to turn up black by the end of the evening... I'm looking for a cheapo place to get a bustle done. NW preferred. Also, points to anyone that can tell me what a normal bustle and/or steam press would cost - ya know, to get an idea.

also, where the heck would I find a garden wishing well? we may as well forget it because I can't find one anywhere and I don't want to order online. I thought I saw one awhile back at Big Lots...
