Rumor has it that you can find the torrent here.
I'd really like to buy some organic lamb today (Friday 22nd) for a dinner I'm serving later. Where in Austin can I do this? I've heard the farmer's market, but that's too late.
Closer to the NE end of town (eg, Braker and I-35) is better, but anywhere around would be good.
Thanks!

While sorta screwing around on the 'net, I stumbled across the Austin Texas Chocolate Festival! This is amazing to me. A whole festival! For CHOCOLATE!!! The festival is March 8 and 9. Tickets are $21.85 (eeks!) for a two hour time slot, and includes 16 chocolate samples, as well as a demonstration. Check it out.
There seem to be new food options in the Triangle opening constantly. Anyone know where I could find an up to date list of what's open? I mean, I heart me some Flipnotics, but what about the Tino's that I think I saw on the sign as I was driving by a few weeks ago?
The ones I know of off the top of my head:Mandola's
Which Wich
The Flying Saucer
Flipnotics
Mama Fu's
I have a friend coming into town this week and I've never been. He loves karaoke and has asked me to take him.
He'll be here from Monday-Friday and side of town isn't really an issue. We're going to try and show him all around.
So, what's your favorite place to go for the people watching and the experience?

Heya--is there anybody in the Harris Branch area? We just moved here a few months ago. It's...very quiet!
1. I am looking for a place that will buy used computers for pretty decent prices.
2. I am looking for a person who would like to buy my computer.
here is the craigs listing: eMachines
I'll considering lowering the price, but I'd really prefer it to be $250 or higher. Money is scarce and in quick, high demand!
You can reply here or on the ad.

Come rally for RON PAUL this Saturday, February 23, University of Texas south mall, 4:00 pm. Will include life, liberty, and the pursuit of some damn good rock n'roll by Jimmie Vaughan. Come hang with the freedom lovers.
EDIT: Looks like the schedule has been rearranged since I was told about it (of course). The music actually begins at 2:00, and the good doctor won't speak until 5:00. The planners' website has further details and links.

Just a quick question for people that have had LASIK done locally here in Austin, if you have had it done which doctor did it and how are the results? Looking for some recommendations

Saturday, March 1st, from 4pm to 8pm, Secret Oktober is pleased to welcome Austin's own The Machine in the Garden live with a special performance by Mirabilis (Summer Bowman) and Dru Allen from "This Ascension").

Good Chinese restaurants that deliver to the Riverside area? I'm off Crossing Place.
Thanks in advance.

I need to open another checking/savings account and get a credit card. Any suggestions about where to go or what to avoid?? My only bank is in San Antonio, and I obviously need something here in Austin. So far I have heard good things about Chase and Wells Fargo, and I have heard bad things about Bank of America.
Any recommendations?

New red light cameras coming to nine Austin intersections

The City of Austin has announced nine intersections where red light cameras will be installed later this year.
The intersections are:
* In North Austin at the north and south bound intersections of MOPAC at Howard Lane and Wells Branch Parkway.
* In Southwest Austin at the southbound MOPAC frontage road at eastbound highway 290.
* In South Austin at the East and west frontage of Lamar at the south frontage of Ben White Boulevard.
* In Southeast Austin at Riverside Drive at Pleasant Valley.
* In Downtown Austin at the Northbound I-35 service road at 11th Street and the southbound I-35 service road at 15th Street.
* And finally, at the Southbound I-35 service road at MLK.
A traffic study revealed the most red-light running spots around town. That's how the intersections were picked. Cameras are tentatively scheduled to be installed in April, and to be operational the following month in May.

My purpose was simply to pass on the info, not to get into shitty Austin drivers or debate the question of privacy vs safety -- but feel free if that's of interest to you. For me, I'd rather see real enforcement, not this kind of 1984 society theSicherheitsdienst Fatherland Security types have foisted upon us for so long that people find a culture of surveillance unremarkable. "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." [Often, though spuriously, attributed to Ben Franklin] There used to be a principle that one had the right to confront one's accuser; in a time when cameras are everywhere, the government listens to your conversations (both face-to-face and on the phone), reads your mail, and tracks your movements, it's become moot whether remotely recording what you do in public can be considered encroachment upon any semblance of "essential liberty." In short, it's my view that the shuggoth's been out of box for far too long for hope of any return to a more idyllic time to be anything but wish-phantasm.
