Viva Aerobus!

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 9:16 AM
Looks like they've finally started booking tickets from Austin to Cancun/Monterrey (and back)! Not many $9.99 deals left, but there are some in July-Sept, plus a lot of $19.99-39.99 tickets.

Aerobics-type classes

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 10:22 AM
Hiiiiiiii!

I'm wanting to start taking some cardio kickboxing or spin or hip hop or SOMETHING kind of classes to get me moving again now that it's sunny outside. Difficulty: I don't want to join a gym. :)

Is there a place (or some places) in town that offer this? I'm looking for a place similar to Atomic Dance Factory (RIP).

I work near 620 & 2222 and live in the 183/Anderson Mill ish area, so some place nearby or north period would be totally rad.

Thanks so much. :)

Austin Care Package

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 2:50 PM

Hi all,

This may have been asked but I wasn't quite sure how to search for it. I'm looking to get together a kind of care package for some friends of Austin-ish and Texas kind of things.

I absolutely would love to get some wildflower seeds but I've only really seen those at the Capital, which seems like an expensive place to buy them. Where do you get seeds for your gardens? I've looked at like Walmart but it's not really a Texas wildflower mix.

Also, I need your help with ideas.  What would you put in a local care package? I understand that it can be based on the person's likes and dislikes but I was thinking about things that were perhaps $5 or $10 apiece and just kind of kitschy, "this is Austin" kind of things.

Your thoughts are much appreciated...

Adult ADD meetup group meets tonight

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 4:36 PM
Sorry for the last minute notice, guess that's why I need the group! Tonight at 6:30pm at Texpresso on Anderson lane, we will be having a meetup. The meetings are a lot of fun, and we do actually get things accomplished. It's a great opportunity to talk with some like-minded people. If you can't make it tonight, we meet the first and third Thursdays at Texpresso. We meet in the back room, and sometimes have a sign, sometimes we don't. Come out and say hi!

Edit: here's a map if you need one:

Hey everyone,

After debating this for quite a while now, I've decided that I need help finding a permanent home for my little 3 1/2 year old dachshund mix, Sam.

Mental Health Professional

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 5:42 PM
Can anyone recommend any good psychiatrists/psychologists in the Austin/Round Rock area that have appointments available on Saturday? It's the only day I can go, and so far everyone has said either no, or they're not taking new patients.

Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

Wheatsville jobs...

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 5:59 PM
Has anyone here ever worked at Wheatsville Co-Op Grocery? I'm applying there and I just wanted to scope it out a little bit. Positive/negative experiences? Departments to stay away from? It seems like a great and fun place to work, but ya never know.

Thanks!

Dem debate

Does anyone know if it will be televised, and if so, when/what time? I want to go to the gym, but I don't want to miss it.

EDIT: Found it. CNN, 7pm.

I'm looking for a decent colorist. I found someone to cut my hair who i LOVE. But sadly, he doesn't color. I don't want to pay someone $34674568 either. I'd like to stay under $100. Waaayyy under $100 if possible. I've tried doing it myself, but can't get the exact color i want. (just for FYI sake, the color i'm looking for is the color of Donna's hair from That 70s Show. Specifically - the "first date" episode.)

Anywho. Recommendations plz. kthanx

Obama Rally tomorrow

Does anyone know what the deal will be for parking? How about the bus? I am not an avid bus rider, and CLUELESS about where and how to pick up the right one. Does anyone know if shuttles are being offered (like they do from Barton Creek Mall for Trail of Lights)? Can kids come to this event?

Love ya tons! TIA

Dog-friendly camping?

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 10:28 PM
We're thinking about taking advantage of the fabulous weather that's expected this weekend and going camping (which, of course, means the thunderstorms that haven't appeared yet probably will just as we're setting up the tent.  Anyway.)

Any suggestions of where we can camp with our dog?  So far all I've found is Pace Bend Park.  Any other options?  I prefer real toilets, but I can rough it for just one night.

Thanks!

triathletes?

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 10:39 PM
Recently, I've been considering competing in a triathlon or two or three... if it gets addicting. While I am in decent shape, I've never done a triathlon before. Is anyone here in a training group they would recommend joining? I've googled Austin triathlon training, and have come across quite a few training programs. I was hoping someone might have recommendations for or against certain groups. I have trouble keeping myself motivated, so I'd love to join a group that will keep me on track! I visit Houston every other weekend, so a group that wouldn't mind me missing a weekend workout twice a month, or a group that also has a chapter in Houston would be a big plus.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice!

doula needed

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 11:24 PM
Can anyone reccomend a doula or similar person for help in the hospital?
Home birth is not an option, but I'm looking for some help/ support/ standing up for my natural choices if I'm not quite myself while in the hospital.
TIA
