We're in a rut, we always go to dinner & movies.  Ideas please.

(I've already looked at Austin360 for tonight)

Endodontists (a.k.a. root canal specialists)

  • Jan. 31st, 2008 at 10:04 AM
Has anyone had experience (good or bad) with any of the following Endodontists (Please don't recommend anyone else--these are the only Endodontists covered under my very shitty dental insurance):

Capital Area Endodontics on Medical Pkwy

Michael B. Doughty on S. Capital of Tx Hwy

Jason M. Duggan on Medical Pkwy

Jeremy J. Smith on Medical Pkwy

Thanks!!

Help! Where was this taken?

Hey all,

I'm doing location scouting for a small indie film, and I came across this picture on flickr:

Can anyone tell me where this is?

And heck, while we're at it, I need a great, attractive restaurant waiting area. I have a pretty great list going already, but if you have a favorite, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks guys!!

Pic isn't showing up, so I've linked it. Odd.

Austin ISP Options

I don't have a landline. I don't want cable. What are my options for internet service at home?

There Will Be Blood, oh and you better PAY!

Went to that movie last night at the Alamo Ritz, our first time there.
Movie was intense, DDLewis is amazing, very interestingly done film..

and then our night got interesting.

I am so upset by what happened next I can’t even believe it. So you know how when you park downtown there are always nice crackheads directing you to your spot as if they found the spot for you?????? I AM SICK OF IT!!!!!!!!!
Soo soo sick of it !

We didn’t give the guy any money and went to our movie. As we were rounding the corner where our car was parked after the movie I noticed the same guy kind of slinking around as we walked up the hill.

We got in the car and started to go and guess what???????? TWO SLASHED TIRES (verified today when we tried to fix them, they took an ice pick to the sidewalls thus making them un-fixable, so we had to get two new tires with MONEY we DON’T HAVE). TWO. Not one so we could change a flat and be done.

At first my man said the we should just take the bus home and leave it… I was like NO WAY so they can further trash my car all night??????? So the hilarity ensued, I mean, HOW do you get TWO TIRES changed at midnite on a dark side street????????????????????????

We took off to 6th to see what we could find and they actually have that fix a flat crap in one of the little 24 hour stores…. We went back and first started by changing the one we could replace with the spare, no small feat as we were in a dip next to a curb, but my sweetie made it happen. As soon as he started to jack it up another dude comes by saying “pop a tire?” and started making suggestions etc, D told him, look dude, I have it under control, you are welcome to hang out but we aren’t going to give you any money…. That guy walked off in a huff….wonder if this is some scam they pull then one of them comes by and ‘helps’ you and makes some money… whatever… I was so mad at that point I was not in a charitable mood…

We had HELL with the gross fix a flat stuff, even had to get another can, but mercifully it got us home. I was SO RELIEVED when we got in…. this morning I had a dr’s appointment (thankfully I could walk there from home, I have found the doctor I always wished for, much more on that later) and D and his mom (She is a saint) dealt with getting new tires.

Beware of parking downtown apparently they’ll make you PAY if you don’t PAY.

I have lived in Austin my ENTIRE LIFE and have NEVER had anything like this happen. I was and am soooooooo sad that people do things like this.

I just don’t get it.

Fair warning.
Candy Cane Peppermint Tootsie Pops

Bought these at xmas, and realized when I got to the end of the bag that I couldn't live without them. Anyone know where I can find them in Austin? Bunch of places online, but I'd rather buy local...

long island ice tea dammit!

  • Jan. 31st, 2008 at 8:38 PM
In the middle of Nowhere, Indiana, was a place called Bdubs that served the bestest, tallest, most delicious and most drunkening long island iced tea. The closest Bdubs is pretty far, so I'll take recommendations on the place that serves the best long island in town. Please!

Also, it's cold outside and I'm wondering: is there a place that makes yummy warm alcohol-containing beverages? Those seem harder to make because the alcohol maybe dissipates but I'm no expert :)
