I'm sick and uninsured. Any recommendations for sliding-scale or affordable doctors? I live south but I'll go anywhere to get some treatment.
I was just wondering if anyone knew whether or not there'd be a city-wide Christmas tree pick-up, or if there already was one, or if we just missed the memo on how to get rid of our tree. We live up on the north side near Metric and Gracy Farms, and we haven't noticed anyone putting their trees out yet. What do we do with our Christmas tree once we've de-decorated and de-tinselled it? We're trying not to leave it up 'til March. That'd just be tacky.
yesterday i posted about cashing out of town personal checks since im new in town and have yet to setup a bank account. i just wanted to say thanks to the people who had something constructive and helpful to say and ill nevermind on what other had to comment. thanks again ;0) it was very helpful indeeb

I don't need the spa experience, just a quick mani and pedi this afternoon.
I live in the boonies of SW Austin, so I would prefer a place around Oak Hill or the Y.
Clean, no Hep, etc. ;-)
Thanks!

i'm hoping someone has gone through this recently given the holidays.
i'm leaving from ABIA tomorrow and i have 4 small gifts that i've already wrapped. i didn't even consider that it might be an issue getting through security until just now. has anyone here gone through security with wrapped gifts? i would livid if i had to unwrap them because i took extra time to find nice paper and don't have extra. it's not like they cant see what things are with the xray machine but i've found austin's security to be super strict when i've flown out the last few times. one gift is one of those reed diffusers so i'm thinking they might see liquid and sticks in a box and freak out. who knows.
i just want to know if i should just check the damn bag or not. i really don't want to though b/c i'm afraid things will get smashed.
thanks.

There were like 83million of you or something who said you were interested in auditioning. I got tons of emails. Just wanted to remind everyone who was interested, just in case they hadn't responded yet, that auditions are THIS sunday at 8pm. If you have not contacted me or have contacted me and not received the info and directions, please email me at info@bigstarburlesque.com

Yesterday I made a post requesting information about reporting an unclean restaurant to the health department. After quite a few requests that I tell which Austin restaurant is sub-par, here it is: Dan's Hamburgers on N. Lamar, right across the street from Half-Price Books and Goodwill. While I was there, a waitress and a chef spent 20 minutes trying to change a light, which is the sort of thing that should be done when the restaurant is closed. (I don't want your ceiling dust crap falling all over my food and I don't want to see someone who's supposed to be cooking/handling my food doing some sort of dirty labor.) The bus boy left 4 tables dirty, filled with dishes, so that he could move salt and pepper around tables which were already clean and wipe them off some more. He was also re-filling the sugar canisters at the tables, which is also the sort of thing that should be done after hours, or at least in the back of the house. The person at the counter was wearing a latex glove, answered the phone, and then handed me my food, without even thinking of changing gloves. (You just touched a phone!! DON'T YOU KNOW HOW FILTHY PHONES ARE?!) I'm also pretty sure that there was no manager on duty, which is also a health code violation.
I hope that this doesn't offend anyone; I'm only sharing my personal observations. I do understand what a cheap diner is, but I also understand that they don't have to be unclean. (I worked in one.) Again, these are just my observations and opinions.
