does anyone know where I could find "honey glaze"? It's not really honey, but it's a sugar-based glaze used on pastries. It might be called something else, i've only known it as honey glaze though. Anyone have any suggestions or that could maybe shed some light on this?

thanks

Marriage questions..

  • Mar. 8th, 2006 at 9:14 AM
Has anyone here been married at the courthouse in Austin? If so do you just show up and wait or do you need to call ahead and schedule it with someone, justice of the peace etc. Also do you remember how much it was? I'm just trying to explore some options right now...I read on some site that it cost a lot? If that's so I may go an alternate route...I can't imagine it being that much..

Any place to take wild animals

  • Mar. 8th, 2006 at 9:21 AM
Does anyone know of a place where I can take a small animal to be
rehabilitated in Austin, like a wild life preserve or something. I have
an injured squirrel attacked by a cat. He doesn't seem too hurt, but
it's a baby.

in need of two holes.

I haven't seen any piercer requests lately so I thought I'd throw one out.

I want to get an industrial while I'm in town. So where's a quality piercer who is especially good at poking holes in people's ears? I don't have a location preference - so long as they are in Austin :) A name, studio, number and any rough idea how much this will cost would be awesome. I've heard numbers from $35-75 so I'd love a narrower price range.

and ps, thank you for the drinking options the other day, they were most helpful :)

Opthalmologist

I'm looking for a good opthalmologist in town. Not an optometrist. I usually go to the EyeMasters mall optometrist for glasses prescriptions, but I want to get contacts. I gave up on contacts a while back because I have really bad eye allergies, but I can't see as clearly with glasses as with contacts. Recommendations on opthalmologists who are good with this sort of thing?
Thanks!

If you're driving on Stassney today anywhere between IH-35 and Westgate drive CAREFULLY.
Cops are busting people left and right, and one of my customers just came in saying he got a ticket for going 5mph over.

Dropkick Murphys

  • Mar. 8th, 2006 at 1:26 PM
I know a little 13 year old girl who is desperate for a pair of tickets (one for her, one for her dad) to friday night's Dropkick Murphy's show.

Anyone have tickets to spare? For sale? anything?

Her parents are searching for them because of the circumstances surrounding it. A friend of the family PROMISED he'd take her, so they never bought tickets - and now he's flaked out her. and she's been moping around all week. I'd love to help her out. Help me help her?

Can anyone tell me more about the Excalibur Fantasy Faire near Lockhart that's opening this weekend? I have never been to one of these before.. Any reviews? Where can one buy tickets? Do people dress up to go? The website for it is pretty crappy. Thanks!

The Isle of Sappho

I ate at Ararat the other night and it was great, we had fun, food was good, etc. but I noticed that there were a bunch of lesbians swarming all over that place, both employees and quite a few hanger outters. Don't get me wrong, I like a little pick up game of softball too, but I just wondered if anybody knew why, if it was my imagination or what..?

I hope it's true becaus no matter how badly I am to the staff they can never dip their balls in the food.

Love,
Ben
Does anyone know what's going on around southwest Austin? Mopac is all blocked off down south, at William Cannon and Mopac, there were a huge line of police cars, there's cops driving on every corner and a helicopter over head yet no news of what's going on any news station.

Is it just me....

  • Mar. 8th, 2006 at 5:46 PM
...or are the amount of people on street corners with signs in this city becoming sheerly overwhelming?

Weren't they going to pass a law about that?

Does anyone ever find it ironic that all the crackheads, are within 2-4 blocks of police headquarters?

Extra good glasses repair?

  • Mar. 8th, 2006 at 7:51 PM
I am looking for really top-notch glasses repair in Austin. My girlfriend's expensive frames have broken hinges. I can't take it to a Lenscrafters type place because it requires soldering. I took them to the "Frame Fixer" place near the DPS on Lamar -- I spoke to him on the phone and he said he could fix them, but when I got there he said he didn't have any hinges small enough.

Has anyone had good luck with a full service glasses repair type place?

BLAZING, it looked like it blew up or something) this morning on the southwest parkway exit of southbound mopac? it was really, really, really, really scary driving right by it. does anybody know what happened? did everybody make it out okay?

SPC has updated their Risk Outlook area to include most of central Texas overnight. An official "Slight Risk" of severe thunderstorms now exists for our area until early morning.

The cap is now indeed breaking, and storms are beginning to fire-up here and there in almost all of the state. Any thunderstorms which form have a very good chance of becoming seriously severe with this set-up.

I'll place any relevant watches and warnings behind this cut for those who are interested.
