Tim Burton tights

  • Feb. 7th, 2006 at 12:44 AM
I want some tights (or, failing that, thigh highs), which are black and white striped in the style seen in Tim Burton's art and film. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place these might be acquired locally? I'd even settle for tall socks, really.

I don't have time to mail order, as this is for a costume for Friday.

Thanks.

What do I do if I need to contact Emo's and/or Red River Tickets and I don't live in Austin?

512 477 3667 is the phone number for Emo's, but no one ever answers, and the voicemail is full. I have tried several times, at different times of the day/night, for good measure.

Red River Tickets seems to have no contact info whatsoever.

SXSW Help

  • Feb. 7th, 2006 at 10:46 AM
I am new to the area and kind not figure out this SXSW deal. I hear buzzwords like "badge" "wristbands" ...I go to the website and it information has just vomited all over it and I don't see a good explanation of how it all works and where films are shown and just basic "how to navigate this whole thing" info.

Help?

Speaking of SXSW...

Belle and Sebastian are playing at Stubbs on March 15. The B&S website says that there will be a limited number of tickets made available to the general public. Anyone know when and how these tickets go on sale? I can't find any information on Stubbs' website or on the B&S website...

Good Gaud Clothing

It's the "We're trying to stretch this as long as we can" Sale! Everything in the store is 50% off! But, unfortunately, today is the absolute, last and final day the store will be open for a while. So, it's your last chance to get those hard to find vintage clothing treasures, cowboy boots and Levi's Jeans.

We're open from noon-7 and then the doors are closed.

I just adopted a pup from the SPCA and am looking for basic obedience classes. The SPCA offers them, but I'd like to look at a few other places before enrolling. If you took your dog to a good program, please tell me about it... any places I should avoid?
Thanks :)

Rip off beware!

I just went online to buy tickets for an upcoming show at La Zona Rosa. They are sellling them through GetTix.Net. The price of the tickets are $14 but with GetTix's service charge of $5 and a "handling fee" of $3, the tickets are $22. EIGHT DOLLARS in service charges!??!!! Unbelievable!!!

I'm going to their box office to complain. This is fucking extortion!!

EDIT: I called them and they told me to try Waterloo or Star Tickets.
Waterloo has them for $17.50 cash.

DON'T BUY FROM GETTIX.NET!! SHOP LOCAL!

(x-posted to a bunch of places)

Two unrelated questions

  • Feb. 7th, 2006 at 3:37 PM
I adopted a persian mix kitty last weekend and she needs grooming. Where is a good place, in south austin, and about how much does that cost? I've never had a long haired kitty before.

Where the heck can I get rid of a full size mattress? I've heard that Goodwill wont take them and CL and Freecycle have just frustrated me with no-shows.

Thanks everybody!

Skilled nursing facilities

  • Feb. 7th, 2006 at 4:16 PM
My grandmother is currently in St. David's rehab for her back and can't live alone once she's discharged. The doctor says she will need to be moved into a skilled nursing facility where she can continue to receive therapy before she can live alone again. Does anyone have any experience with this type of facility in Austin? I think what we need is a nursing home that provides rehabilitative services as well. Thanks!

Electrician in N Austin?

  • Feb. 7th, 2006 at 7:50 PM
I need an electrician in the N. Austin area. (Although technically the town is small enough that it probably doesn't matter.) I'd prefer someone older but really sharp, because the wiring in this house was done in 1970 -- I think whoever did it must have taken that brown acid at Woodstock coz I've got years of experience with both electronics and electrical circuits, and I can't figure out what they did. Any recommendations?
